the change of weather brought a change in ingredients. pastry fillings were different, new items were added, and kai reveled in the gentle smells in the air as he sat out in the cafe during a quiet afternoon. usually, the merman would be walking around, chatting up customers, but the very few sitting inside today seemed to be enjoying their solitude. instead, he bides his time out front, deciding to finally put some lights out. ❝ i can never quite outdo the witches' business, but maybe this will be my year, ❞ he says at another passing, stepping back to take a glance at what he's done so far.

adeline's eyes seem to light up at the presence of the art director. she couldn't help but feel a little hero worship towards the older vampire. " you have a gift. " she replies, a saccharine smile forming on her face. " history, evolution, i could never get tired of studying it. it's probably my favorite part of being immortal, experiencing change. " her gaze travels back to the art work in question. " you know, i'd bet you can't find another exhibit like this anywhere else in the world. "

         “  it’s  quite  fascinating  ,  isn’t  it  ?  ”  hera  asks  ,  walking  up  from  behind  [  your  muse  ]  .  the  latest  featured  exhibition  at  the  art  museum  may  just  be  her  most  ambitious  one  yet  .  titled  bestiary  :  the  book  of  creatures  ,  she  poured  hours  of  research  to  gather  the  works  of  both  humans  and  supernaturals  alike  .  an  exploration  of  how  each  views  the  occult  .  “  i  suppose  it’s  a  bit  on  the  nose  but  i’ve  always  found  it  interesting  to  see  the  evolution  of  change  as  time  progresses  .  what  do  you  think  ?  ”

(   alisha boe  .  cis woman  .  she + her  )       —       blasting  mantra  by  kaz moon  down  main  street  we’ve  spotted  ADELINE DE SAINTGNE  sporting  their  antique aquamarine pendent.  the  twenty - eight ( one hundred and thirteen )  year  old  VAMPIRE  who’s  been  in  town  for  ten years  often  can  be  seen  picking seeds out of a pomegranate, reading classical literature, daydreaming under the night sky,  or  working  as  a  HISTORY PROFESSOR  at  PORTUM UNIVERSITY.  people  say  they  display  vivacious  and  overbearing  traits,  but  we  rather  trust  their  vibes:  vibrant flowing dresses, a pearly white smile full of sharp teeth, being cheerful to a fault.  also,  we’ve  heard  they  love  VINTAGE FASHION !   aren’t  they  fascinating ?

adeline, affectionately known as addie, was born in a french village, the name long lost to time. eight years younger than her older brother, he was a role model, a person to look up to, from the moment she was able to raise her head. she doesn't remember her parents, she was too young when they passed leaving two orphaned children. life as a human was troubling for the siblings, food wasn't always a guarantee. still, addie had hope that things would turn alright for them. things didn't exactly go as she anticipated, though they would change drastically.

one night her brother came home and he was...different. a stranger accompanied him and for the first time in her life, addie experienced true fear. by morning she was no longer human, now a creature of the night. the stranger taught them how to live as vampires and although she still had an uneasy feeling, she embraced the change, if only for her brother.

the uneasy feeling comes to a close as their maker is executed and the clan is forced to flee france. addie and her brother are separated for the first time since her birth.

now alone in the world, addie spends her days studying, learning the history of her kind. in her free time she searches for her brother, travelling around europe. ( there is a lot of open room here for supernaturals that were in europe around this time to meet abbie ! leaving it open and vague )

eventually she hears rumors in a small romanian village about a hostage that had been taken after a witch hunt. with fear that it may be her brother they were talking about, she attacked and killed the captors, eventually finding and saving her brother. this would be the first time addie had ever really lost control and it still haunts her to this day.

she nursed her brother back to health, as reluctant as he was. he had always been there for her when she needed it so she would be there for him as long as it took. the brother who came back was not the one she remembered but she would cherish him just the same.

since then she's been trailing her brother around the world, eventually finding their way to portum. addie took on a job as a history professor at the university. it's her first time teaching and her methods are questionable but she has a first hand account of the 1900s.

addie has a love for all things vintage/classical, classical books & music, vintage clothing and jewelry. she still owns a few pieces of clothing, ones that were easy to lug around as she travelled a lot.
