So, I wasn't planning to record today. Monday is one of the few reliable times I have the house to myself, but for various reasons (mostly my regular counselling sessions), I don't generally feel like recording.

But, things conspired to inspire me to record regardless, and you my dear listener, are the (hopeful) beneficiary of that. :P

Having just finished a replay of the Dead Money DLC for Fallout:New Vegas, I figure I might as well link to these recordings I did of various bits of that one.

I think that there are two key things about Dead Money (the Fallout New Vegas DLC for anyone wondering) that are worth saying:

The first is that it absolutely holds up, over a decade later - the storytelling and atmosphere are perfectly judged, the pacing the same: The Villa feels so... utterly unworldly, so profoundly wrong, and yes, hostile as anything, while the Sierra Madre itself sharply juxtaposes that just enough to make it feel like once those doors are close behind you, the wrong is locked out, even as the Suites give this... undefinable air of desperately holding out against the nameless, formless, inevitable Void in the form of The Cloud.

The second thing to be said is that the sound design and voice acting both are unfathomably good: In particular the Police Station bell, the banging sounds in the Clinic, and for that matter the bell tower at the north of Salida Del Sol are... so profoundly unsettling and chill inducing, while Dave B Mitchell really brought his A-game as Dog/God (and Laura Bailey is always on point).

And I suppose the third, is that the writing really was superb. :P

To those who know these joys, the Sierra Madre holds little they don't already have. Out in the world, beyond these walls, that is your chance to Begin Again.

So, I had the opportunity to record, and after recording a sfw thing, I then thought I'd deal with some of the frustrations of this week in the most classical of fashions.

But then I thought maybe I should record it? And maybe I should use my new Tenga Spinner again, but try it this time with my normal lube rather than the maker's own brand. And then... well, this was the result.

So, some of you may be aware that this time last week, I actually bought a game at launch for... the first time in years quite frankly.

And having played it to death much of the past week in amongst all the other life things, I have a ramble about it for all you lovely people who may choose to listen. :)

So, after last Mondays's audio was reasonably well recieved, I thought that I should get myself more toys, and realised that I had a chance to record coming up this Monday, and so I obtained a new toy, specifically a Tenga Spinner.

And then my life kinda imploded into a hell of a lot of stressfulness over the last few days - and so that nice chill thing I'd been planning on kinda went out the window, but I was *going* to try out my new toy damnit!

This was the result. :P

So, I was feeling a touch... feral this afternoon, and, having the house to myself, I decided I wanted to break out my stroker and get off.

what accents are you good at? terrible at? Irish? French? How about American Deep South?

So, I figured I'd principally respond in audio form, but the short tldl is that I have my natural accents, but beyond that about the only one I can *kinda* do is a northern irish accent (which now I think about it is a bit odd given how my ancestors were from somewhere on the west coast).

All the rest is just nope sadly - though maybe with enough practice and effort I could get there.

EDIT: Oh! Entirely forgot - american accents are more possible when singing along - but good luck getting me to sing most of the time. :P

I somewhat take issue with the concept of hiding - I mean... I've probably been more open about the ups and down of being me, not to mention the most significant moments of my life in the past several years in this space than I have basically anywhere else, with the debatable exception of talking to my counsellor. :P

But the honest answer....

-pauses for a minor existential crisis-

I'm just an introverted, nerdy/techie, neurodivergent bloke who spends more time gaming than he probably should, who enjoys long walks, working wood, recording audios, and learning things from youtube and podcasts (also a bit of a politics junkie).

Physically, the inactivity of the past few months since I moved away from Home has taken it's toll - am definitely thicker around the middle than I should be, and weaker in arm and shoulder, but I am working on that again now.

I wish the world was kinder, better, and more befitting the future we all expected/hoped for growing up. Against all the noisome evidence of recent years, I still believe that the fundamentals of humanity tend towards goodness, towards the lights of reason and liberty, even if my rational brain does tell me that it'll be a while before those beacons truly burn away the darkness trying so hard to smother them.

I don't read as much poetry as I should - honestly, don't read as much as I should just in general (news articles online and tumblr posts don't really count) - new (to me) films and TV just stress me out. Metal and rock and folk are preferred musical forms, but most things tends to occasionally throw up something or someone I like.

Sexually, I'm a switch who's IRL sex life remains blighted by his introversion, social anxiety, and by presumably having something very wrong with his tinder/feeld profile given the total lack of matches, but hey, audios are a nice outlet when I can actually record, and I do have a few online play partners which is also a nice outlet.

Anxious mess? Nerd with a scary memory for random factoids? Gamer? Techie? Hopeless romantic who probably will be alone for a long time yet to come?

Yeah, all the above, and probably plenty more, but I figure this is going on too long at this point. :)

So, this morning I woke up, and, scrolling the new tab on my phone while my brain was booting up, I saw this article from PC gamer talking about how the RTS genre's great revival has flamed out and is never really going to come.

And I chose violence.

Upshot though is that I recorded a half hour ramble on how to fix the RTS genre, and maybe return it to significance.
