Final Statement
Aqua House - “OASIS”
In today’s society, we are surrounded by all buildings made of concrete, metal, and electronic wire, people feel exhausted and tired all the time because of the fast-paced lifestyle. The ‘OASIS’ is a place where can slow it down, let people take a break from work, and listen to their inner voice.
The ‘OASIS’ is a meditation experience museum. It emulates the environment of the oasis in the desert and has planned into four practical areas – the shoe depository, the meditation room ‘desert’, the relaxation room ‘oasis’, and the ‘grass room’ for people to clean their feet. To emulate the environment of the desert, I decided to build glass walls around the courtyard and add a ceiling to it. To entering this experience museum, people need to take their shoes off and put them on the cabinet in the shoe depository room. Through the glass door, visitors will enter the ‘desert’. I add the floor heating under the sands so that people can feel the hotness just like they are in a desert. After all the visitors enter, the radio will broadcast some information to guide people to meditate, and ten minutes later, the camel bell sound played on the radio will wake them up so that they can go to the relaxation room ‘oasis’. The water flow on the ground will lead people to the waterfall, visitors can have a rest on the chair and enjoy the coolness and comfort in ‘oasis’. At the end of the journey, the visitors will go to the grass room to clean their feet and go back to the shoe depository room to wear shoes. Because this is a one-way in and one-way out space, the maximum visitor capacity is 10 people per tour, and it requires prior reservation.

For the first image you can see that I changed the ceiling to glass fill with water, the reason why I changed it is I think the rock ceiling I did before was too “heavy”. It visually narrows the height of the room, I don’t like it because I want the room to be comfortable but the “heavy” ceiling makes people feeling berried and suffocated. The water ceiling not only expend the room’s height visually with the reflection of water, but also has the meaning of the underground water, which is one of the water resources that oasis have. For the second image I decided to use the soft light yellow light instead, to unify the room’s style with sand and the warm lighting also makes people feel relaxed.

I add the rocks to hold the ceiling. And I also made a rock table with water and iced wet towel on it, so that people can re-hydrate after meditating in the ‘desert’.

After rendering the grass room I decided to build the shoe depository room. For the shoe cabinet I made it looking like rocks, so I use small rocks and put them together to make it a whole rock. I also add some chairs for people to sit while they take off/wear their shoes.

I started to build the grass room - the room for people to clean their feet. I add a towel shelf so that people can use towels to clean themselves just in case someone don’t like the grass cleaning.

I realized that the meditation room is not looking like a desert, it’s not warm enough, so I adjust the light again, this time I use the same light in relaxation room to unify these two rooms in one same style.
