korzion asked:
"Today I am thankful."
Helaena was mid sip, but that sounded like a toast to her. She lifted her cup and gave an awkward swallow. Feasts like this were so awkward to begin with, rife with expectation and meaning (only half of which she even began to understand). They always seemed to end with sour spirits, but at least there was a good middle part where the wine seemed to take hold and the music was lively. At least it was just family this time-- family were always better company than the other noble houses. Less pressured. Less empty words.
"To gratitude then."

@xx--ofmanythoughts--xx liked this post for a starter.
Helaena doesn't recognize the other woman, but she does recognize her dragon. She rides atop Vhagar, Aemond's dragon. The woman herself looks a bit like him, angular features, strong jaw. Her hair is white as Helaena's own, plaited into a complicated design that did well to keep it out of her face as she sat astride the largest dragon Helaena had ever seen. The hair reminded her a bit of Rhaenyra in it's length, elegance, orderliness. That and the crest of their house was engraved in the chest plate the woman wore, although the armor itself was an older style, nothing Rhaenyra would wear. Only a Targaryen would have that hair and skin, those features. Only a Targaryen would wear the sigil of their house. Only a Targaryen could ride a dragon, and only one Targaryen woman had ever ridden Vhagar.
Pale fingers rose to shield her eyes from the sunlight as she watched the pair fly past. No one seemed to notice a woman astride a dragon pass the towers of the Red Keep, aside from Helaena. She followed their direction long after they had passed, to the edge of the walkway, her hand resting on a stone parapet as she watched for their return.
