“An important part of opening ourselves to the Holy Spirit is making a conscious determination to be a participant in whatever He wants to do, instead of remaining merely a passive observer.”

“Ruth is a woman who sacrificed everything to follow God’s will for her life. And because she laid her all on the altar, she was immensely blessed. Just as we will be, when we lay down our own pursuits and whims, and yield completely to God’s voice alone.”

i’ve been learning this season that prayer is so important and God is so accessible. He’s closer than our every breath yet we forget that He is near. i’ve started being intentional about reading the Word and praying in the middle of my day, aside from my quiet time, and have felt more centered and closer to Him. too often, we brush prayer aside as a last resort or we only strictly do it in the morning or at night. it’s still important to do it during those times, but watch how God shows up when we are intentional about seeking Him in every part of our day - in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night.

realizing all over again that God is truly all we need and there’s no way around that. there have been many times in my life where i’ve searched for things to fulfill me. people, relationships, approval, popularity, hobbies (yes even hobbies) and so much more. still, every single time i think that this certain thing could bring me joy, i end up reaching a point of emptiness inside. whether it’s a split second or even an entire month, i realize all over again that i am nothing without God. not even a full days rest could compare to the refreshing joy of being connected with God and being fully known by Him. without God, i am nothing and i can do nothing. it really all comes down to this: even if everything was taken away, would i still be okay with just jesus?
so friend here is your reminder that God is all you need and all you’ll ever need.

TASTE & SEE 🍨 🍭 🍦
“O taste and see that the LORD [our God] is good; How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.”
Psalms 34:8 (AMP)
The other evening, I was standing on my balcony looking for the food delivery man...and I began to smell the sweetest smell. It was a rainy day and as I searched anxiously for the delivery man (hoping he wouldn’t deliver the food to the wrong house) , the smell of an ice cream parlor began to waft over to the balcony. Holy Spirit dropped this psalm (Psalm 34) in my spirit and whispered “taste and see.”
Sometimes when I’m waiting on God I just
want the answers, I want the solution, I want the breakthrough...
but God knows the thing I NEED — a reminder of who He is. God’s love is SWEET. He is so faithful and like the psalmist says... “His children never lack any good thing. Those who take refuge in Him are blessed. He is near to the broken-hearted and crushed in spirit. His eyes are forever towards His children.
Father, in the name of Jesus, guide our hearts toward you. Position our hearts that we may long for you above anything else in this world. Remind us that your love endures forever and far surpasses the love of this world. We thank you God that you have overcome this world. We thank you for your heavenly peace that surpasses all understanding. Heavenly Father, captivate us with the knowledge that you are GOOD. May we experience this truth not just in our minds but in our hearts and soul. You are JEHOVAH-RAPHA — healer of our broken hearts. You are our comforter when our spirits are crushed. May we never forget that we have everything we could ever need in your presence. May we never forget that we are BLESSED with treasures not of this world —so that even when earthly tragedy and sorrows come we would cling to You and Your heavenly promises which are yes and amen in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus’ name
Amen. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

“It horribly skews the meaning of the cross when contemporary prophets of self-esteem say that the cross is a witness to my infinite worth. The biblical perspective is that the cross in a witness to the infinite worth of God’s glory, and a witness to the immensity of the sin of my pride.”
— John Piper (via fearlessproverbs)
