I literally know nothing about this Brent Faiyaz - I only heard him for the first time last month on Goldlink’s “Crew”. This is such a vibe. Time to step out of the shadows, Brent.

Goldlink might be one of the most underrated artists in hip-hop. Off the back of 2015′s brilliant “And After That, We Didn't Talk” mixtape, he hits us with a full LP - “At What Cost”.
Similar to AATWDT, it’s full of razor sharp flows, the signature rap/sung verses and some killer hooks. The standout for me, though, is “Meditation”. Kaytranada is one of the few producers that can recycle his beats without making them sound stale and samesy. I first heard this cut in a Boiler Room years ago...fast forward to the closing seconds of the 99.9% intro...and we end up here. As is customary for most Kaytra cuts, I want to hear this in the club, in the whip, at a bbq...there’s something about those woozy beats. Jazmine Sullivan does her thing too.
Other notable cuts include the Wale featuring “Summatime” and another favourite “Crew”, which has garnered good attention since its release (I see you Brent Faiyaz).
Ultimately, this project probably won’t receive the attention it deserves, but I’m certainly looking forward to hearing more from DC’s finest.

Two days until VI drops, where else to start? I’ve followed his career since about 2011. I won’t lie, I was slow at the start, only really doing my homework after I heard Section 80. Since that day, I haven’t looked back.
One thing is unique this time. I have *NO* idea what to expect from DAMN. Before GKMC, I heard The Recipe, Swimming Pools. Before TPAB, I had I, The Blacker the Berry and the Colbert Report performance. You could take a good stab at the kind of content to expect. This time, it could be anything.
One thing is for certain. Kendrick Lamar doesn’t have doubters in music anymore. Sure, some people aren’t fans, but nobody can ignore his greatness. Is he about to make history and go 4/4? Probably. Here’s to April 14th.

Into the blogosphere...
I’m starting this to provide a bit of respite to my Facebook friends and Tweeps. Apparetly not everyone wants to be spammed with good music 24/7…hopefully we’ll find a few out here.
