“I actually have a very similar drunken story with the same song, but mine probably involves more glitter and less clothes than yours,” he fondly thought back on the blurry memory from his early twenties, “it was Pride.” he said by way of explanation, not that he wouldnt happily sing ABBA covered in glitter any other day of the week. “Nah, no rush, I live right upstairs so it’s not like I have the best work/life balance anyway, come this way.” He gestured for her to join him by the shelves of record players, “we have a few record players to choose from, but if you want me to see if I can fix yours, I can stick ‘round tomorrow.”
“that’s very... interesting to picture.” the blonde laughed, blushing as she knew that he definitely caught her looking at him from head to toe. “oh, please. my after pride protests stories are so... fun yet so blurry. all i could remember was fighting for rights, getting a drink after, and voila! nothing.” she chuckled again, then placed the record on the counter to pay for it, but then followed him to where the vinyl players are. “hmm...” her ocean blue eyes carefully scanned the collection, and the one in white definitely caught her attention. “how about... you go check out my old one, then if it’s unfixable, then... i’ll be getting that one.”

It was a day he’d had marked on his calendar weeks in advance; the return of his close friend and confidant. Texts and Facetime calls were effective enough, but nothing beat having Hayden to talk to in the flesh. Eagerly, Drew stood with the mass of people awaiting the arrival of their own loved ones, vigilant in seeking the blonde out. But his attention had averted upon receiving her texts. Gaze shifting from his surroundings, down to the screen of his phone, the male hadn’t come to recognise the figure approaching. Unprepared by the force in which Hayden had thrown herself at him, he grunted and stumbled back slightly. The wrapping of his arms around her had been instinctive, however.
“Jesus, give a man some warning next time.” Still, Drew squeezed at her frame tightly, lips smacking against the side of her head. He found himself chuckling at her words. Of course food had been the first thing on her mind. “I predicted you would say that. I have an Uber waiting for us outside, and take-away en route to your apartment as we speak. It’ll be there as we arrive.”
soft and feminine chuckles had almost filled the whole vicinity of the airport as soon as hayden had thrown herself to the familiar figure. truly, there is no place better than being at home. “the text message is considered as the warning. how come you’re still not used to all this when we’ve been doing it for years?” she says upon pulling away, a hand attempting to fix his shirt back to its neatness.
“ah, you know me so well.” the blonde murmured with an amused expression on her soft features. “you have everything prepared for a good night, huh? i’m looking forward to it, drew.” she then began pulling her luggage, following him to where the uber was parked waiting for them. “so... should i wait for us to get to your place to hear stories that i’ve missed?”

“Super Trooper is great, don’t get me wrong… but Abba: The Album has I’m a Marionette, which is,” Ed held both his hands in front of his face, bringing his fingers together for dramatic effect, “incredible. You know it’s a party when I’m a Marionette plays.” He fondly recalled many a night with his sister, where they would stand on the couches shouting the words. So much of the music that he loved was tied to memories like those. “Of course,I watched my grandfather fix a few, so I’d be happy to try and help. I guess it depends if you wanna be vintage or if you want brand new.” Pressing his lips together thoughtfully, Ed walked over to the shelves. He was too engrossed in the conversation to remember he wasn’t supposed to be working,“We have a few new record players over here if you want to look.”
“ah, how could i forget about i’m a marionette to actually... have second thoughts about this whole thing.” the blonde laughed, now setting aside super trooper and just kept abba: the album in her arms. “funny drunk story that you didn’t ask for: i remember watching a clip of me drunkenly belting out the lyrics to that song. it was fun, but the effect the next day wasn’t that... good.” she laughed again, then just looked around the store to see if she’ll spot anything that she might like. if not, she might as well just come back some other time. “oh, shit. my record player’s at home-- i’ll gladly just bring it tomorrow around... an hour after lunch. sounds good to you?” she wiggled her brows, hoping that her charming antics was enough to get him to say yes. “ooh, show me-- if you’re not in a rush to get out of here and whatnot.”

madibv:
madi offered a smile to assure hayden that all was fine. if anything had gone overboard, she would definitely have handled that at the moment. “no worries, he didn’t do anything harmful. just annoying but you must know how that goes,” she pointed out, knowing almost everyone had their own creep horror story. “yeah, well. what else is new, right?” she joked, laughing a bit. “so enough about me, dear. how’s the music coming?”
the smile given to hayden was enough. she knew madi could handle the matter well, but she just had to make sure. “oh, please. they couldn’t really take rejection, huh?” she sighed softly, sipping from her glass again. “just let me know if there’s anything i can do to help. you know i’m here for women protecting women.” she genuinely smiled towards the blonde. “oh, please. it’s been... overwhelming-- but i’m handling it well, surprisingly. my latest album received a lot of positive feedback, and that keeps me... going. anyway, are you free this coming weekend?”

“I live here! I’ve lived here for nearly a year now—It’s mad right! Me in bloody New York! What about you, do you have a place here?! You’re always jetting off!” Flossie held onto her friends wrist lightly, beaming a smile out of her. “–We haven’t seen eachother in—fuck me, how long has it been?” Flossie shook her head in disbelief. “God, yes! Coffee! Let’s go! I’m so excited to finally grab you and have some of your time. You’ve been a busy woman!”
the revelation definitely surprised the blonde. how come she had been living here and they never actually bumped into each other? maybe, new york wasn’t really as small as she thinks it is. “oh god! i wish i saw you or reached out earlier just so this wouldn’t be our first time actually meeting here.” she laughed, hugging the smaller woman again. “i don’t know... i think... a year or something? i’m bad at remembering time frames-- but that’s not important! we’re here now!” she clapped her hands excitedly, laughing at how loud they were being. “yes, darling. you have me for... the rest of the day just because i missed you so much. tell me everything that i missed right here and now!”

good traditions in a friendship is always something that hayden keeps like a promise. the first thing that came into mind when she was told that she’s bound to new york for the last show was getting to hang out with one of her best friends after a couple of months of just calling through facetime. with these amount of time, they definitely have a lot of thing to talk about while enjoying pastries and a cup of tea or coffee on the met steps. this has been their tradition-- for a decade and counting.
just a couple of minutes after resting into her home, hayden perked up to meet up aubrey into their usual hang out spot. she made sure that she carried a couple of baked goods that they share during their catching up sessions, just to ensure that time was the only thing that changed in their friendship. soon enough, she was squealing at the sight of the brunette standing with an extra cup of coffee at hand. knowing hayden, her excitement had her running up to aubrey as if they haven’t seen each other for more than a year. “oh, god... i swear i missed you so much!” she giggled, tightening the embrace before pulling away. she then had them sitting down on the steps, a grin slowly becoming more prominent as she looked at her best friend. “where should i begin...? jeez, i have a very... messy thought process, so ask away to serve as my guide!”
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐘𝐃𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐔𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 meet at their usual spot on the Met steps, Aubrey really couldn’t be more excited to be reunited with the tall legged blonde she had considered her best friend for almost a decade now. It had been a little while since had last really been able to catch up with her — and while they had texted each other continuously and religiously throughout their busy lives, she was really looking forward to getting to see her again. Hayden was always the fun type of person to be around. Who she never didn’t share an adventure with, and who Aubrey knew she could literally always count on. Always brightening up any room she arrived in, and always nothing but supportive of her art ever since the very first day she had met her. It made it nearly impossible for Aubrey not to smile once her hazel eyes finally caught a glimpse of her already sitting on the steps as she approached the one building she knew inside and out. And the one place that had slowly but surely over the years become like a tradition for them.
“I already got you your favorite coffee,” the brunette sang as she greeted the other girl, two cups held snugly between both hands as she finally settled down onto the step beside Hayden, her arms briefly flung around her friend’s neck once she had placed the carton down onto the cold hard surface next to her. “Please tell me everything I’ve missed and don’t leave out any of the details.” ( @hcydensxndrs )

jamesselroy:
James’ friendship was something that seemed to have fallen into his lap. At first, he had no idea who she was, that she was in fact a famous singer, and since learning of that, it changed nothing when it came to his friendship with her. To James, she was simply Hayden, nothing more or less. What he wasn’t expecting was to see her sitting in the middle of the park, a grin growing on his face as she waved over at him. “Hey yourself.” James greeted her with a wide grin, closing the small space between the two of them. “Oh wow, it’s been too long, Hayden. Way too long.” James shook his head as he took a step back to look at her. “How are you? How have things been going with you?” He asked, truly interested about going on in her life. He didn’t much like keeping up with tabloids and pop culture but he tried time to time to read what he could about what was going on with Hayden. Though he much preferred to hear it from his friend herself.
despite her superstar status, hayden had always loved having friends around town who didn’t see her as someone who deals with a lot of press on a daily basis. whenever she gets to hang out around those kinid of people, she feels more grounded and at ease-- as if she’s still human after everything that she has achieved throughout her career. “well... a couple of months isn’t too long, james.” one of those people that keeps her grounded is james. so as soon as he joined her, the smile on her face only grew more prominent than ever. “i’ve been tired lately... but good, really. i got to do what i love, so i’m not really complaining. how about you, though? how did life treat you while i was... on the other side of the world?” she grinned widely, looking like an excited child. “oh, and i’ve got a show tomorrow night.” wiggling her brows, hayden wished that he got the message immediately.

for hayden sanders, there’s no place in this world that can compare to the feeling that new york gives. it’s a mixture of home and adventure-- knowing the blonde, this excites her more than ever. that’s why this is her place to be. just as she was creeping on social media, she couldn’t help but feel more excited as one of the performers she looks up to decided to send her a message. her excitement just got worse when she red that the one and only veronica, was asking her to come join her into one of new york’s dive bars. it was a surreal moment for her, and this is an opportunity she would miss. “be there in an hour.” hayden responded as she settled her stuff on her place. right after, she was immediately on her way to their agreed destination. luckily, spotting ronnie isn’t just a chore despite the number of people in. “ronnie!” she called out with an ecstatic wave, opening her slender arms for a warm hug. “oh, dear. it is my pleasure to be with you here tonight. what’s up?” she chuckled upon pulling away. “drink’s on me!”
Veronica has been scrolling through her instagram durring intermission when she saw Hayden post, announcing her arrival in New York and hints of a new mystery project she was working on, most likely a new album, and Veronica couldn’t resist reaching out. She’d been a fan of the singer since she’d first came on the scene a decade or so ago, and seeing that she was working on something in New York, Ronnie had to meet her, she wanted in on this mystery project. She sent Hayden a DM on istagram asking if she wanted to meet up at Miller’s and was thrilled when the singer agreed. Once Ronnie was out of costume, she headed straight for Miller’s, waving towards the singer as she entered the little dive bar. “Ah! I can’t believe we’re finally in the same room together. Thank you so much for coming out tonight, sweetie!” Ronnie grinned, hugging the blonde

hours before her flight back to new york, hayden knew that the best (and first) person she should contact is drew. she considers him as someone that she trusts her whole life with ever since they were introduced to each other. they have formed a good chemistry, and this led to a bond that kept them tight for years. fast forward to the present, hayden was finally back in her town for two shows and the rest of her days. “i can’t believe that i’m a little bit hungover while at the airport.” she typed on her phone, sending him a message to see if he actually remembered. “if you’re looking for me, look for someone who looks like they haven’t slept a wink. i hope you are looking for me right now. whoever finds who first wins. loser buys dinner.” she was wearing her oversized hoodie and a pair of leggings, matching it with her white sneakers that goes well with any outfit she puts on.
just then, she spots the male from a distance and immediately ran up to him for a hug. “i think i found you first, drew. saying that i’m starving is actually an understatement.” she laughed upon pulling away. @drewinston

flossiehawkinss:
Flossie was in her own little world, she finally felt like she was settling in her new home after leaving London in such a rushed fashion. She felt like she finally had two great jobs down, friends she could call when she needed them and she finally felt it was home. Having a day off from her busy schedule, she had her own airpods in listening to some of her playlists, as she took a big inhale, wondering what she was going to do that night.
Seeing someone wave at her in her periphrial, she raised an eyebrow–then her brain registered. She let out a loud scream “HAYDEN!” She thrust herself towards her as she squeezed the woman. “HOW THE–WHY ARE YOU!” She didn’t even care just kept close to the woman. “—-Oh my–I’ve missed you so much!”
“flossie!” knowing hayden, she greeted her with as much energy as the brunette had radiated. she had always loved flossie’s company, and seeing her here had displayed her immense happiness. “please tell me you’re not just visiting new york for a week or two.” she joked, even though she loves the idea of having more of her close friends near her. “how have you been? i feel like... we haven’t seen entirely for years!” she laughed once again. “tell me everything i’ve missed over coffee?”
