Excuse Me | Open
There was someone standing in front of the rice display, and she wasn’t sure what to do with herself. Normally she’d tap them on the shoulder and excuse herself. But recently she just didn’t care enough to be that polite, though it was starting to land her in some less than ideal situations. She could always go look around the store and come back to it, but it wasn’t like she needed anything else.
Biting back a sigh, she adjusted her grip on her basket of groceries and cleared her throat. She hoped that would be enough to get them to move, but after a few seconds with no movement Nami started scowling slightly. “ Excuse me. “

In Need of Directions | Open
She was lost.
How the hell was she lost? She didn’t get lost.
Sighing to herself, Nami ran a hand over her face. She’d have to stop and ask for directions. Something she absolutely detested doing. But she didn’t have a map with her, and her phone... well it wasn’t like she had many contacts in it who could help her. Fighting back the urge to just turn around and try to head back the way she came, Nami glanced around her. There was a bar, or what she thought was a bar. Maybe someone in there would be friendly and helpful.
She made a beeline for the door, and pushed her way inside. Greeted by the familiar smells and sights of a bar, Nami could feel herself relaxing ever so slightly. At least this was something she knew how to handle. Stepping up to the bar, she found a seat and quickly took it. The woman glanced around, trying to spot hopefully friendly face, but saw nothing. Biting back an exasperated groan, she grabbed one of the drink menus to give herself something else to focus on. Maybe if she was patient something would change, though she doubted it.

“If I use 3 milliliters of that… No, that’s far too much, but 2 might not do the trick… Perhaps 2.5 would be a good compromise, but then I would have to split that into quarters…” Ford mumbled to himself, scratching out lines in a notebook. He would have preferred to use the chalkboard he had back at his own clinic, but as he was currently waiting for the ferry, this was all he could do to try and get the idea down before he forgot it.
“…” Muttering a few more things, he began circling some numbers, crossing out two more, and then writing a new formula over on one page, while scribbling out math on the other. He didn’t even notice as someone began to approach the bench next to him.
It was the first time she managed to work up the courage to leave the island and travel to the second island. Following the signs and the directions of some of her co-workers, Nami shifted her bag against her shoulder as she walked up to the waiting area. So far there was only one other person. Maybe she was early? She hoped that was it.
Getting closer to the man, she watched him scribble in his notebook and blinked slowly. Most people these days seemed to prefer writing everything on their phones. It was a breath of fresh air seeing someone write something out longhand. Curious as to what he was writing, she stood on her toes and tried to peek. Seeing the numbers, her nose scrunched slightly at the mess on the page.
“ You write your twos oddly. ” Nami didn’t realize she had said it at first and blushed when she did. “ Sorry, I didn’t mean to use my outdoor voice. “

A Place to Sit | Open
She was tired, after walking all day she’d be surprised if she wasn’t. But she had done what she set out to do. She managed to make it around half of the island and seen more. Slowly she was starting to feel more and more comfortable on the island. Starting to feel like it could maybe be a home. But she could think about that later.
Spotting the church she had heard about from someone at work, Nami’s pace quickened. Hand on the door she started pushing and felt a rush of relief as the door opened for her. Sliding inside, she tried to remain respectful while hurrying to take a seat. A quiet sigh left her as she sank onto one of the benches and took the weight off of her feet. Much better.

“My pleasure. If ya were I was goin’ ta offer ya a tour around town. It’s small, quaint, but enjoyable.” Kathy responded putting a hand on her hip. The red head looked Kathy over, and Kathy gave her a smile. She definitely didn’t mind her eyes on her.
“Oh? Are ya layin’ the compliments on already? Don’t worry hun, ya got my full attention.” Kathy replied with a soft laugh. The girl seemed to be pretty nice and pretty She walked up to her and got a bit closer. She stuck out her hand for the woman to shake.
“Name’s Kathy. I haven’t seen ya around before. What’s your name?” She asked.
Nami’s smile grew lopsided as she watched the woman draw closer. She had to admit the other was even prettier up close. She just hoped she didn’t trip over her tongue like she always did and manage to screw it up. At least the other was getting closer, that was usually a good sign. Granted there had been that time with the pirate, but she continued to believe that was an isolated incident.
Taking the woman’s hand, she shook it firmly a few times before slowly letting go. “ Nami, “ she told Kathy, head tilting to the side slightly as she reached up to brush her bangs from her face. “ I’m new to the islands, only been here a few weeks. So if you’re still offering a tour around the town, I wouldn’t say no. As long as I can think you with a drink afterwards. “

Kathy was just about to head to the Blue Horseshoe Crab, probably her favorite bar on both of the islands. She knew the bartenders well, had met the populous there many times, and over all enjoyed the atmosphere that was there. It was almost like a second home, but in reality it was just a business she frequented.
She looked a bit into the distance and saw a red headed woman walking with her nose in a map. She was a cutie. Not too many people could rock that short hair she had. She went up to greet her, but was ignored. Did she not hear her? Or perhaps she was studying the map too much? It was… odd. Then she turned around and began talking to her. Well… just a single word at least.
“Hey there, looked like yer back.” Kathy teased with a chuckle. She smiled at the woman. “I was asking if yer lost. Don’t want a cutie losing her way around here. Ya know?”
Nami stares at the woman in confusion for a moment, not entirely certain if the other woman was being serious or teasing her. It took her a few moments to come to the conclusion that the other was just trying to be friendly with her. Trying to offer her a small smile, Nami moved away from the table a little. The less distraction she had while talking to someone else the better.
“ No, I’m not lost, but thank you for asking. “ Looking the other woman over, her smile grew a little more. The woman was certainly attractive, and that was something she could appreciate, even with her head filled with ideas about exploring and travelling. “ I think this is the first time I’ve had someone with eyes like that try to rescue me from my thoughts. “

Vivi had her reasons why she was here in the library. For she had plenty of questions herself, like why is magic fading from the rest of the world? You would think she didn’t had a sense of self preservation since she was immortal– but the witch rather have a better idea with what goes on with her fate. As she was meandering about in the place, she noticed a peculiar woman with firetruck red hair. It reminded Vivi of fire, and the eyes only seemed fitting with of ice– what an fascinating combination. Sometimes she wondered just how vast humans can be. Well, they were– came in all different shapes and sizes, thoughts and walks in life–but this woman herself didn’t want to care at all.
“…Does it look like I’m needing something?” That came off a bit rude.
Nami blinked slightly at the woman, slightly taken a back by the tone the woman had used. Most people here on the island were oozing with politeness and cheer. The woman’s blunt tone, which she thought most would take as being rude, slightly refreshing. In a way it reminded her of home, or some of the places she had considered home over the years.
Raising a shoulder slightly, she turned her eyes back to her book. “ Seemed like you wanted something, you were staring. Thought maybe I had one of the books you were looking for.” Gaze sliding to the pile of books around her, she sighed a little. It was entirely possible. She had taken so many books off of the shelves, simply because they had sounded interesting.

Popuri had more or less gotten used to the work of a Guildmaster. It was a learning process, and one that she enjoyed, but today there were a lot of things weighing on her mind. Worries she didn’t have words for.
A voice interrupted her thoughts and she looked up to see Nami, one of the newer guild members. It’d be a lot easier to focus on her than try to figure out whatever emotions were going on.
“Of course~” She gestured for Nami to come in. “Take a seat.” Nami certainly seemed worried about something and she hoped she could help. It would be a great distraction from her own problems.
Nami hesitated for a moment before stepping into Popuri’s office. She’d been in the room only a handful of times, and like the previous times she was slightly daunted by everything. Trying not to let that show on her face, she carefully sat down in the chair her boss had gestured at and set her bag down on the floor.
Carefully watching the other woman’s face, Nami tried to find the words to start the conversation. How to admit that she’d been watching her all day, and that she was concerned? This wasn’t something she usually had to handle, and now she was reminded about why she normally shied away from things like this. But Popuri was so sweet and caring to everyone, it was hard not to be drawn in and feel concerned.
Taking a deep breath, she crossed her ankles together and set her hands in her lap. “ I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I noticed things were, um, getting rough earlier. And I, well, um, just got a little worried? “

A Mountain of Books || Open
Curled up in a back corner of the library, it was impossible not to enjoy herself. She had two piles of books at least seven books high, on either side of her, and a slightly smaller one on the floor in front of her. Back pressed up a bookshelf, with one book balanced carefully on her knee, Nami was more than ready for a nice afternoon of reading.
Somehow she had managed to find a history book that wasn’t as boring as she usually found them, and even better it was about Arcadia. She liked knowing more about the places that she stayed in, even if only briefly. It made her feel more connected to the people and the place, and brought a sense of peace. At least for a while. Then before she knew it that sense of peace turned into restlessness and a need to get away from everyone and everything.
Hearing a set of footsteps approaching her, she debated about ignoring them, but thought better of it. In a place like this, everyone knew everyone, and snubbing someone would likely change the way everyone talked to her. Slowly, she looked up, thumb moving to hold her spot in her book. Face straight, she stared at them for a moment before asking, “ Can I help you? “

Lost in my Head || Open
Leaning over the map, Nami traced the islands coast with her index finger. The island was still new and exciting to her, and she loved looking over the maps trying to figure out where everything was. She was lucky that the guild had no shortage of them, and even a few of the surrounding islands. Nami turned her head and eyed one of the other maps she had pulled out and hummed quietly. There was so much she needed to see, she had no idea where to even start.
Her attention returned to the map of Arcadia on the table in front of her, and her finger traced the outline of the forest carefully inked onto the paper. It was definitely one of the places she’d be visiting soon, it was just finding the time between unpacking and work. Maybe she could ask Popuri for a day off? No. She had only just gotten here, that would look bad. Not that that had ever stopped her before.
Nami was pulled from her thoughts by a figure appearing in the corner of her eye. Blinking, she looked up from the map and frowned. Had they said something to her? It was likely. “ Um, “ Nami’s gaze wandered back down to the map for a moment. She definitely didn’t want to ask them to repeat themselves. “ Yes? “

A Friendly Ear | Popuri & Nami
Nami had been keeping a careful eye on her boss since about mid-morning. She wasn’t entirely certain when she had first noticed that something was slightly off, but there were several little things that made her stop and wonder if something had happened. Gathering her things from her little corner, she lifted her satchel off of her desk and slung the strap over her shoulder.
The red-haired woman hesitated for a moment, eyeing Popuri from the corner of her eye. She wanted to say something to her, to ask if she was alright. But every time she opened her mouth to ask she found the words dying on her lips. Taking a deep breath, she shifted from foot to foot. Maybe it wasn’t any of her business, after all she was still new to the Explorer’s Guild. But maybe that would make it easier for the other woman to talk to her if there was something wrong.
Only one way to find out.
“ Popuri? “ Her voice didn’t seem quite right to her, and she paused to swallow slightly. This was a terrible start to things. “ Do you have a moment? “
