SUCCESSION
Succession is an American television drama series that premiered on HBO in 2018, and it will end this year with a four and last season. The show centers around the Roy family : a wealthy and very powerful family that owns and operates a global media and entertainment conglomerate called Waystar. The patriarch of the family, Logan Roy, is the CEO of the company, and the series follows his four children as they compete for control over  the company. Succession won many awards, such
So what is great about Succession ? Why is it standing out from all the various shows available right now ?
Succession is an addictive show, it dips us in a gripping world of corruption, greed, and self-interest, it’s impossible to look away. It’s possible thanks to the sharp writing of the series which depicts complex characters. The series can count on a outstanding performances from all the cast. The show is character-driven, and explores various themes such as power, family dynamics, loyalty and last but not least, betrayal. The show is so interesting and gripping because it delves not only in the professional lives of the Roy family with the corporate maneuverings, but it also delves into their personal lives, their inner workings, their battles with each other.
While the subject of Succession may seems trivial at first, the series manages to exceed that. It provides insight into the inner workings of the power structures that govern society, particularly in business and politics. The show also sheds light on issues of corporate greed, corruption, and the impact of unchecked capitalism on society. What I like about Succession is that it’s great show to watch but it also encourages viewers to question the societal structures and power dynamics that govern our world, and the role we play in shaping the world around us.
