I finally watched The Sound of Music and like I get it now, I get it. 

It’s a beautiful two hour love story of a strict man finally opening his heart again and then a fifty minute public service announcement to hate the nazis. Brilliant.

actually the craziest impact animorphs has had on me is that i never really got an urge to eat cinnamon buns from reading them BUT the phrase "the refreshing beverage known as vinegar" has forced its way into my head every other week for years to try and convince me it would be a good idea to chug a whole glass of it

I'm almost 30 and still amazed you can just walk into a library and pull a book off a shelf and read it, don't even need to ask anyone, can just sit down and read book for free until closing time. There is nothing that free anywhere else that isn't serreptitiouly religious or requiring registration. that's how stuff should be. Libraries are so good

Notes from a Librarian:

Libby and CloudLibrary let you add multiple cards to your accounts. Libby searches all accounts at once for books. CloudLibrary you have to physically switch cards in the app or on the website. BUT you can use WorldCat to search all libraries to see who has what in one go instead of searching fifteen cards.

Second; CloudLibrary has a website you can use to read on a computer, or even your TV if you really wanted too. Libby used to but does not anymore.

You can change both Libby and CloudLibrary to different colors and fonts, both have the OpenDyslexia Font.

If you have a disability that makes it hard for you hold a physical book, or a sight disability; in the US you are able to apply for your local Braille Institute and get free resources. Most library will have a link on their Digital Resources page. They will mail you Braille books, talking books, and give you access to BARD; which is their e-Reader app. And because they’re a library of Congress resource it’s free and there are no waits for the audio books. And the “professional” that needs to sign off on your application- can and should be your Librarian!

And Finally;

Queer Liberation Library gives you a free e-card on Libby.

In most states in the US you just need a current state ID to get a library card doesn’t matter where in the State you live. And if you are a homeless or foster youth almost all libraries have a system in place to ensure you can get a library card. And if you are homeless without an address, please ask your librarian if they can give you a digital only card. Digital Only Cards will still give you access to the online resources; books, highschool online, research databases, kanopy, and computers in the library and printing. The only thing you won’t have access to is Physical Books; and that’s only checking them out. You can of course still read them in the library.

It’s wild to me to see transvestigator conspiracy theories online that could be so easily explained by natural human variation. That woman has a deep voice? Yeah, sometimes they do. A woman has broad shoulders?? Maybe she plays rugby or hits the gym a fuckton. There’s a “bulge” in her tight pants?? Maybe her vulva is just fat. Thinking about the Holmes story where a blind girl goes to him and is like "My fiancé is missing and he kept telling me the week leading up to his disappearance that he would always love me and come back for me,were anything to happen so I think he knew he was in trouble and I love him so much and I'm going to wait for him but I'd like to find him faster,ya know?" And Holmes figures out that it was this girl's parents to scam her out of money she was owed from an estate which she gave to them because she was still living at home,which she wouldn't be if she ever married,so her step father PRETENDED TO DATE HER for MONTHS to keep her from ever getting engaged to a real person and when Holmes finds out he confronts this man and this man is like "Well,you caught me! But it wasn't illegal:) so:)" and Holmes is like "No,but it was sickening and cruel and if she had a brother or good male friend he should post you up and whip you but she doesn't." And the man is like "No,she doesn't." And does the Victorian version of sticking his tongue out and Holmes is like "Well,I guess I'll do then!" And HE PULLS OUT HIS HUNTING WHIP.
