Love love love when they take care of eachother 💙
Buddie Fanfics: Taking care of each other
Fanonwriter2023 on AO3
Where CANON and FANON collide!
These are some of the Buddie future fics I've written with Buck and Eddie taking care of each other when they're physically sick, emotionally hurt or just when they're supporting the other one after they've worked a long shift. In all of them, they're either dating, engaged or married.
The list includes a combination of them sharing casual and emotional intimacy, Sick!Fics, Singer!Buck and Dancer!Eddie. Since Maddie knows how to sing, my headcanon is Buck knows how to sing too because she taught him. Also, since RG knows how to dance, another one of my headcanons is Eddie also knows how to dance. Furthermore, Buck’s captain of the 118's A-shift and Eddie’s the critical care paramedic for Los Angeles County.
Sick!Fics
“Always remember how much I love you!” - 16.2K Words; Rated Mature:  Eddie receives a terminal medical diagnosis but he hides it from Buck.  Buck can tell something’s wrong and when Eddie finally tells him what happened, they work through it together.
“In sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part!” - 20.0K Words; Rated: Teen and Up Audiences: While Eddie’s working a 48-hour shift, Buck notices something that requires immediate medical attention but he doesn’t tell Eddie about it until he gets home from work. Throughout this difficult time, they’ll hold onto each other like they always do and they’ll fulfill every aspect of their marriage vows, especially the part about “in sickness and in health”.
Taking a Sick Day - 2.1K Words; Rated: General Audiences: Eddie’s sick and Buck takes care of him.
"I'm taking you to the eye doctor." - 3.9K Words; Rated: Teen and Up Audiences:  When Buck starts having trouble seeing, Eddie notices and he immediately takes him to the optometrist.
Outpatient Surgery - 6.6K Words: Rated: General Audiences:  While Eddie’s in surgery, Buck’s pacing the waiting room floor hoping everything goes according to plan and there aren’t any complications while his husband’s under anesthesia.
Taking care of each other
“I’ll bring you breakfast in bed.” - 3.8K Words: Rated: General Audiences:  After Buck works a 53-hour shift that was supposed to be 48, when he makes it home, he’s exhausted, tired and hungry. Eddie takes care of him, then he brings him breakfast in bed.
"Maybe... I shouldn't be doing this job anymore." - 5.4K Words: Rated: Teen and Up Audiences:  When Eddie loses a critically ill patient prior to transporting him, as he processes the grief associated with it, Buck’s right beside him every step of the way.
“It’s this part of the job that I don't like.” - 9.9K Words: Rated: Teen and Up Audiences:  As captain of the 118’s A-shift, Buck’s faced with a tough decision that has a specified deadline and as he attempts to navigate it, Eddie supports him throughout the process and he offers viable solutions.
Dancer!Eddie
"Come dance in the rain with me." - 4.2K Words: Rated: Teen and Up Audiences: Eddie asks Buck to dance in the rain with him and he agrees.
Singer!Buck
"Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" - 8.9K Words: Rated: Teen and Up Audiences:  For weeks Buck’s been preparing and planning something big and now that he’s ready, he invites Eddie to join him for the evening. If everything goes according to plan, he hopes the night will end the way he’s been dreaming and imagining for the past 7 years.
“You Mean the World to Me!” - 7.8K Words Rated: Teen and Up Audiences:  After a chance encounter at the scene of an accident, Eddie decides to surprise Buck and they fall even more in love than they already are.

“I’m still in love with you but... I needed to learn how to love myself too!”
Currently 35 chapters completed: 1.671M Words; Rated: Mature
Please note: Chapter 35 was so big; I had to divide it into two separate chapters and Chapter 36 will be posted soon.
___________
Here's a snippet from Chapter 35 of one of Buck's and Eddie's emotionally and romantically fluffy conversations.
___________
“Babe, I—I just accepted a new job.”
“You did, my love. Congratulations and I’m so proud of you.”
Buck exhales a breath he thinks he’s been holding since he dialed Hannah’s office number. Then he sits his phone on the couch, lifts his hands and cups Eddie’s cheeks. There’s so many things he wants to say and he’s feeling a lot of emotions that he can’t articulate them, so he just gazes into his husband’s eyes.
After a few seconds, Eddie asks, “Are you exci…”
But he doesn’t get to finish because Buck closes the space between them and kisses him with so much passion that they get lost in it. The kiss is long deep and slow and as Buck licks into his husband’s mouth, he feels so happy that he thinks his heart might burst. Accepting a job offer like this is a first for him and he’s excited for everything that’s about to happen for their family.
The kiss last for what seems like hours and the only reason they break it is because they have to come up for air. When they do, Buck looks at him and explains, “Babe, I’ve worked a lot of jobs and I explained how I fell into them but… this is different and I’ve never felt like this about a job before. Is that weird?”
“Definitely not! Amore mio, this is huge so you can feel however you want to feel about it.”
He nods in response and after a few seconds, he whisper asks, “Babe, I want to celebrate. Will you dance with me?”
“Always, my love! You know you don’t even have to ask so just lead me to the dance floor!”

Chapter 7 - After Buck’s mental breakdown, Eddie has his back the same way Buck had his when he had his own breakdown more than a year ago.  They share several vulnerable and emotionally intimate moments with one another and they begin to realize their small, sweet and caring gestures matter just as much if not more than any grand gesture ever could because these are the foundations of a long-lasting love relationship.

Chapter 9 - Buck and Eddie are there for each other when Buck has to testify as a witness during the trial.  But by the end of it, they’ll both realize their individual and shared traumas are going to keep resurfacing until they talk about them, deal with the fact that they’re in love with one another and face the fact that they can’t live without each other.
Chapter 10 - As Buck and Eddie finally begin to confront their past traumas, they realize how much they need each other to fill in the gaps of their memories.  Additionally, the universe screams at them for what appears to be the one hundredth time so Buck can realize he doesn’t have to ‘find it’ because he already ‘made it’ and Eddie’s reminded tomorrow isn’t promised and he doesn’t have to die alone if he doesn’t want to.
Chapter 11 - A “virga” or dry thunderstorm is in the forecast but once the rain starts, the thunderstorm happening outside won’t be able to match the storm brewing inside between Buck and Eddie.  It’s the universe’s final scream and when the tumultuous winds begin to blow, they’ll have one last chance to hold onto everything they’ve built over the last six years or they’ll lose it all forever.
Chapter 12 - Buck and Eddie have always shared a deep physical attraction and an emotional intimacy that’s unmatched but now that they’re in a relationship, they’re learning how to navigate the romantic intimacy they’ve been waiting for six years to explore. The love they have for each other is a once in a lifetime, soulmate, love of their lives type of love that transcends space and time.
Chapter 13 - While navigating the newness of their romantic relationship, Buck and Eddie take advantage of every moment they spend together. As their individual lives, people from their pasts, time constraints and the possibility of losing each other again make attempts to interrupt and interfere with their journey to forever, they love, care for, support and hold onto each other even tighter to withstand it all.
Chapter 14 - Buck and Eddie can see the lights at the end of the tunnels regarding the results of Buck’s Cancer Screening along with everything else they’re dealing with. But are the lights they see exits to the tunnels or are they headlights on different runaway trains that are speeding towards them in an effort to interrupt their forever?
Chapter 15 - Buck and Eddie have known they were exactly who the other one wanted in a partner since they met six years ago when they agreed to have each other’s backs. They’re in a romantic relationship, they’re both preparing to ask the other one to spend forever with them and by the end of the seventh week into their relationship, together they will plan their most important and greatest adventure for their future.
Chapter 16 - As Buck and Eddie begin to prepare for their marriage ceremony that will take place in Rome, Italy in December 2023, they start planning their first international adventure as a romantic couple. Even though Chris is still the only person they’ve told about their relationship, several people who know them have already witnessed the love they share and as the days continue, others will witness it too.
Chapter 17 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to departing Los Angeles for their international adventure, a moment in time will remind them; life is fragile, tomorrow isn’t promised and every second of everyday should be cherished because everything can change in an instant. The result of that realization will cause them to hold onto each other even more.
Chapter 18 - As Buck, Eddie and Chris prepare for family gatherings before and during the Thanksgiving holiday, the “Santa Ana Winds” start to blow and all sorts of expected and unexpected familial drama ensues.
Chapter 19 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to their wedding day, the universe begins to align everything so that some of their parent and children's relationships are strengthened while others come to an abrupt end.
Chapter 20 - With only 14 days remaining until Buck, Eddie and Chris depart Los Angeles, CA traveling to Rome, Italy, for their first family adventure, an early morning conversation about “tying up loose ends” helps Buck and Eddie realize there are still several things left unfinished on their ‘To Do’ lists. The question is will there be enough time to complete all of them?
Chapter 21 - Buck, Eddie and Chris are finalizing their ‘To Do’ Lists, double checking their itineraries and packing their suitcases in preparation for their trip to Europe so they can board their flight that departs Los Angeles, CA on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 3:25PM.
Chapter 22 - While Buck, Eddie and Chris spend the first 8 days of their European family adventure in Italy, their primary reason for going will be fulfilled as well as several others they hadn’t considered or anticipated.
Chapter 23 - As the Diaz Family continues their Italian family adventure, they’ll say, “Ciao” or hello and goodbye to a lot of things almost immediately after they become an official and legal family.
Chapter 24 - After Buck, Eddie and Chris arrive in London, England on December 24th; the Diazes immediately start preparing to spend their first family Christmas together. During their stay, each of them will hear a few choice words that will be the life raft to get them home to complete their searches to be seen and to be found.
Chapter 25 - After spending more than two weeks in Europe, Eddie, Buck and Chris are back in Los Angeles and they’re getting ready to attend Maddie and Chimney’s New Year’s Eve party. During the event, they have plans to make two surprise announcements but the question is, who’s really going to be surprised, the Diaz family or their found family at the 118?
Chapter 26 - Buck and Eddie are once again faced with their greatest fear of losing each other but this time it could be permanent and if it is, then they won’t be able to spend the rest of their lives together.
Chapter 27 - After Buck resumes therapy, he’ll continue to face the fact that he “DIED” in March 2023 and during those sessions, he’ll learn about the 7 stages of grief. As he continues his healing journey, Eddie will be right by his side just like he promised and the Diaz family will start to deal with their three minutes and seventeen seconds loss as a family.
Chapter 28 - Two years ago, Eddie was asked, “What are you afraid of?”; twice, once by Frank and once by Buck but he only answered one of them without deflecting. Since that time, he’s been to therapy and him and Buck got married but the question resurfaces when Frank asks Buck the same question and Buck asks it of Eddie for the second time. However, when Buck asks, his reasoning will be about something else entirely.
Chapter 29 - After Buck and Eddie have an emotionally intimate conversation regarding their dreams, they make several decisions that will affect their future. When everything falls into place, they’ll realize one of those decisions will result in them no longer being work partners.
Chapter 30 - In 2018, Buck and Eddie met at the 118 and after some initial apprehensions on Buck’s part, they became work partners and they agreed to have each other’s backs. It’s been more than 6 ½ years, a lot’s happened, they got married in December 2023 and they have the family they both chose. With Eddie leaving the 118 in 3 months and Buck getting closer to moving past his grief, what will him losing his work partner mean for him?
Chapter 31 - As Buck’s life hangs in the balance from what’s suspected to be another bradycardia event, Eddie’s by his bedside, their son is being cared for by relatives and their found family is in the waiting room. During this time, many questions will surface that could possibly lead to the truth but will everything be revealed before it’s too late?
Chapter 32 - On January 2, 2024, the figurative skies over the Diaz family became gray and filled with storm clouds. Buck’s recent trauma, Chris’ school project and Eddie’s paramedic studies combined with the attack on Buck’s life, all those things contributed to the grief they’ve been experiencing. However, as the middle of February approaches, will the dark clouds dissipate so blue skies can return?
Chapter 33 -Now that “New Beginnings” are on the horizon for the Diazes regarding their future as dual residents of the United States of America and Italy, Buck and Eddie review their career qualifications and they consider educational options for Chris.
Chapter 34 - Buck and Eddie are equals in their marriage, they wholeheartedly support one another and they agreed to discuss the big decisions that affect their family. Recent events have them facing a difficult one that will affect their dreams and Buck’s career, Eddie’s job location and plans for Chris’ educational future from both domestic and international perspectives are all included. While they’re visiting El Paso, TX, they’ll discuss the pros and cons of each option.
Chapter 35 - The Diazes left L. A. Saturday morning to spend the weekend in El Paso but all three of them had decisions to make that involved their careers and academics. Their choices will help them get out of their comfort zones, which in turn will affect their future.
Chapter 36 - Will be posted soon.

Been loving this series 💙💙💙💙
I’m yours to keep and I’m yours to lose (you know I’m not a bad boy, but I do bad things with you)
Explicit | 8.7k | NFL Coaches!Buddie, Part 6
Normally at this point, Eddie would be feeling a nice buzz, be red-cheeked and laughing, having a great time. But, not tonight. Why? Because of the “newbie that Coach Maverick said he was bringing. The Texans’ new Offensive Coordinator - and Eddie’s replacement, Adrian Silva has been chatting up Buck all fucking night and Eddie has been growing more and more pissed off about it by the minute.
It had started off as just casual chatting, but Eddie started to notice how often Silva would lean in to whisper something toward Buck that might make him laugh, or the casual linger of Adrian’s hand as he passes Buck’s newly full glass of beer back after he’s topped it off, or the way he’s getting a little extra close as Eddie watches them playing pool with Chimney and Pete Rogers (the Texans’ defensive coordinator). Now, Eddie might be new to the flirting with men thing, but he is not an idiot. He’s seen people shamelessly flirt with Buck every time they’ve gone out over the past year, and yes it has annoyed him (another screaming gay flag for Eddie, but hindsight is 20-20) but not to this level. Because, this is the first time someone has all but thrown themselves at Buck since he became his boyfriend, and Eddie is about two seconds away from ordering a tray of tequila shots for the sole purpose of chucking each of them at Silva’s head once he’s drained them.
Very buzzed and a little loose-lipped, Eddie cuts off Mav mid-sentence by angrily huffing, “What’s the deal with the new guy?”
“Silva?” Maverick asks, “Brought him in from Southern Cal. He’s not you, but he’s pretty good at implementing your offensive strategies. It’s worked so far this season.”
“Not that.” Eddie says before draining the rest of his beer. “What’s he like off the field?”
When Eddie turns to look at the head coach, he doesn’t miss his clear smirk when he says, “He’s a good guy. Just turned thirty-seven last month, so he’s got about five years on you. He’s got twin girls, five-year-olds. He’s doing the single dad thing right now though after he and his husband split last year.”
“Husband?” Eddie swallows hard and turns back to Buck and Adrian, who are celebrating a victory over Chim and Rogers with a couple of shots. Buck easily shoots his, but Eddie watches as Adrian takes his time, his gaze falling to Buck’s throat when he swallows as he not so subtly licks his lips.
“What Eddie? Did you really think your boy, Buckley, was the only out coach in pro ball? Silva keeps it pretty quiet, but he’s not hiding it.”
“Definitely not hiding it.” Eddie murmurs, and tears his eyes away from the scene in front of him and back towards Maverick as he hears his friend chuckle.

Where CANON and FANON collide!
FANON FanFic: Buddie Multi-Chapter - “I’m still in love with you but... I needed to learn how to love myself too!”
Chapters 35 & 36 will be posted soon.
This is an EPIC LOVE STORY!
Tumblr media
Currently 34 chapters completed: 1.585M Words; Rated: Mature
__________
I'm excited to finish writing Chapters 35 and 36 because at the end of Chapter 34, the Diaz family had just returned home after spending the weekend in El Paso. A lot happened while they were there and Helena caused trouble like she usually does but Eddie permanently instituted the "no contact" provision he put into place in November 2023. Furthermore, they told their family about their home in Italy along with a portion of their timeline for when they're planning to relocate.
After they made it back to the hotel, Buck and Eddie had a long conversation about their employment options and they decided once Buck chose which career path he wanted to take, i.e., fire captain with the LAFD, FDNY or with an Italian firehouse, they would chose the option that best suited their family and it had to be one that would provide Chris with the best education. Buck made the decision to accept the job as a Food Network chef and right after he did, they listened to a voice message Bobby left for him while they were on their flight back to L.A. 👀

These are the last snippets before the chapters will be posted.
__________
Here are two romantically fluffy snippets from Chapter 35. One is Eddie giving Buck a gift and the other is Buck giving Eddie a gift.
__________
It’s almost 1AM and even though Buck and Eddie had a long day, they’re in bed and they’re wide awake.  Eddie’s lying on his back and Buck’s practically covering his whole body with his own.  His head is buried between Eddie’s neck and shoulder and they’re pressed together from their chests to their hips with Buck’s legs positioned between Eddie’s in the space that was created just for him.
They love being like this and since things have been hectic all week and they’ll remain that way until they get back from Italy at the end of the month, they’re enjoying every moment they get to spend together.
Eddie’s rubbing his hand up and down his husband’s back and every few seconds, Buck places a soft kiss underneath Eddie’s earlobe.
After the fortieth or fiftieth kiss, Eddie’s not sure how many he’s given him because he’s not counting but he loves each and every one of them, he asks, “Amore mio, did you enjoy your celebration?”
He kisses him again, then he lifts his head, meets his eyes and responds, “Yes, babe.  It was great.  Me, you and Chris had a great time and…”  He presses his lips against his and after he pulls back, he says, “Dinner was great and I appreciate all the gifts.  Thank you.”
“You’re welcome and you know you don’t have to thank me.  You deserve every gift you receive and then some.”  He lifts his head and kisses him and when he ends it, he continues.  “We’re going to be together for the rest of our lives and I’m going to give you the whole world.  Until the end of time, remember?”
“I do.  Until the end of time.”
While continuing to look into those ocean blue eyes he loves so much, he admits, “I got you another gift.”
“You did?  But… you and Chris gave me a lot of gifts last night.”
“I know but those were from me and Chris, this one is from me.”  Without breaking eye contact, he slides his hand underneath Buck’s pillow, he put it there because Buck never stays on his side of the bed so he knew it would remain a secret.  Once he grabs the small velvet box, he hands it to him and says, “Amore mio, this is for you.”
Buck tilts his head to the side because he has no idea what it could be.  They’re already married and they have matching tungsten wedding and silicone rings and St. Christopher medals, so he’s curious to find out what it is.  He pushes himself up and moves to the other side of the bed and after he leans his back against the headboard, Eddie sits up too and turns on the lamp.
Once his eyes adjust to the light, he opens the box and when he sees what it is, his mouth falls open.  He wants to speak but he can’t and it takes him a few seconds to compose himself.  When he’s able to formulate what he wants to say, he whisper shouts, “Eddie!”
Eddie smiles so big his cheeks hurt.  “I saw it and I had to get it.”
“But this is a…”
What gift did Eddie get for Buck? 🙃
Is it something for New York or is it something for Italy? 🤷🏽‍♀️
~~~
About an hour later…
Eddie replies, “I like that idea.”
“Babe, this is going to be perfect for you.”  He tilts his head to the side and says, “Uh… hold on for just one second.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows and watches as his husband gets out of bed and walks to the dresser.
After Buck opens the bottom drawer, he removes a small velvet box, then he closes it and gets back into bed.
As Eddie quietly waits for him to get settled, he thinks about what could be inside of the box.  They already have silicone rings for when they go to work and they have matching wedding rings with identical inscriptions that read, “Ti amo!  Sempre e per sempre!” [“I love you!  Always and forever!”]  Also, they have the same St. Christopher medal so he’s curious to know what it is.
Once Buck leans his back against the headboard, he looks at him and explains, “Ok babe, I was going to give this to you tomorrow after you take your Advanced Care Paramedic final exam but uh… I know you’re going to pass so I don’t want to wait.  Since we just got finished talking about this, I believe now’s the perfect time for me to give it to you.”
He furrows his brow because until a few minutes ago, he hadn’t said anything to anyone about the thing he was thinking but he never worried if his husband would be on board since Buck believes in him.  It’s just they’re still celebrating Buck’s new job and he’s trying to understand how he could have known to get him something to highlight the thing they just discussed.  He says, “But amore mio, we’re celebrating you.”
“No babe, we’re celebrating us and I got you a gift too.”  He admits, then he hands it to him.
Eddie slowly nods and after he opens the box, his eyes widen at the sight of the object he sees.  He gasps and after he catches his breath, he exclaims, “My love, this is a…”
What gift did Buck get for Eddie? 👀
How did he know what to buy Eddie since he hadn’t told anyone about the thing he’s been thinking about for the last few days? 🤪
__________
Fic Summary: Months after Buck and Eddie were hit by the same lightning strike; they’re still struggling with the aftermath of it.  But before they make their love confessions, they’ll spend time getting to know themselves as individuals first. Eddie learns to enjoy the simple things in life as he participates in activities on his own and with new friends while Buck learns the rest of the 31-year-old deep dark family secret about his conception and birth. Their journey to forever is still a work in progress but once they finally admit they’re in love with each other, everything that follows their love confessions will be cataclysmic.
__________
Chapter 1 - Eddie makes a new friend while Buck receives devastating news regarding the sperm donation he made for Connor and Kameron.
Chapter 2 - Buck does a lot of research to learn more about the abnormalities found in his red blood cells and Eddie starts a new therapy journey that’s all about him and not the traumas he’s experienced.
Chapter 3 - After more than a month, Buck and Eddie finally spend time together outside of work but it doesn’t end well and they part with a lot of uncertainty regarding their places in each other’s lives.
Chapter 6 - More than two weeks after Buck pushed Eddie away after suggesting they needed a break; Eddie decides to try again. Eddie’s there for Buck when he’s at his worst just like Buck was there for him when he was at his worst and he won’t let Buck give up.
Chapter 7 - After Buck’s mental breakdown, Eddie has his back the same way Buck had his when he had his own breakdown more than a year ago.  They share several vulnerable and emotionally intimate moments with one another and they begin to realize their small, sweet and caring gestures matter just as much if not more than any grand gesture ever could because these are the foundations of a long-lasting love relationship.
Chapter 8 - Buck, Eddie and Chris all have their own therapists and during their sessions, they reflect on their pasts while they’re in the present so they can prepare for their future together as a family.
Chapter 9 - Buck and Eddie are there for each other when Buck has to testify as a witness during the trial.  But by the end of it, they’ll both realize their individual and shared traumas are going to keep resurfacing until they talk about them, deal with the fact that they’re in love with one another and face the fact that they can’t live without each other.
Chapter 10 - As Buck and Eddie finally begin to confront their past traumas, they realize how much they need each other to fill in the gaps of their memories.  Additionally, the universe screams at them for what appears to be the one hundredth time so Buck can realize he doesn’t have to ‘find it’ because he already ‘made it’ and Eddie’s reminded tomorrow isn’t promised and he doesn’t have to die alone if he doesn’t want to.
Chapter 11 - A “virga” or dry thunderstorm is in the forecast but once the rain starts, the thunderstorm happening outside won’t be able to match the storm brewing inside between Buck and Eddie.  It’s the universe’s final scream and when the tumultuous winds begin to blow, they’ll have one last chance to hold onto everything they’ve built over the last six years or they’ll lose it all forever.
Chapter 12 - Buck and Eddie have always shared a deep physical attraction and an emotional intimacy that’s unmatched but now that they’re in a relationship, they’re learning how to navigate the romantic intimacy they’ve been waiting for six years to explore. The love they have for each other is a once in a lifetime, soulmate, love of their lives type of love that transcends space and time.
Chapter 13 - While navigating the newness of their romantic relationship, Buck and Eddie take advantage of every moment they spend together. As their individual lives, people from their pasts, time constraints and the possibility of losing each other again make attempts to interrupt and interfere with their journey to forever, they love, care for, support and hold onto each other even tighter to withstand it all.
Chapter 14 - Buck and Eddie can see the lights at the end of the tunnels regarding the results of Buck’s Cancer Screening along with everything else they’re dealing with. But are the lights they see exits to the tunnels or are they headlights on different runaway trains that are speeding towards them in an effort to interrupt their forever?
Chapter 15 - Buck and Eddie have known they were exactly who the other one wanted in a partner since they met six years ago when they agreed to have each other’s backs. They’re in a romantic relationship, they’re both preparing to ask the other one to spend forever with them and by the end of the seventh week into their relationship, together they will plan their most important and greatest adventure for their future.
Chapter 16 - As Buck and Eddie begin to prepare for their marriage ceremony that will take place in Rome, Italy in December 2023, they start planning their first international adventure as a romantic couple. Even though Chris is still the only person they’ve told about their relationship, several people who know them have already witnessed the love they share and as the days continue, others will witness it too.
Chapter 17 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to departing Los Angeles for their international adventure, a moment in time will remind them; life is fragile, tomorrow isn’t promised and every second of everyday should be cherished because everything can change in an instant. The result of that realization will cause them to hold onto each other even more.
Chapter 18 - As Buck, Eddie and Chris prepare for family gatherings before and during the Thanksgiving holiday, the “Santa Ana Winds” start to blow and all sorts of expected and unexpected familial drama ensues.
Chapter 19 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to their wedding day, the universe begins to align everything so that some of their parent and children's relationships are strengthened while others come to an abrupt end.
Chapter 20 - With only 14 days remaining until Buck, Eddie and Chris depart Los Angeles, CA traveling to Rome, Italy, for their first family adventure, an early morning conversation about “tying up loose ends” helps Buck and Eddie realize there are still several things left unfinished on their ‘To Do’ lists. The question is will there be enough time to complete all of them?
Chapter 21 - Buck, Eddie and Chris are finalizing their ‘To Do’ Lists, double checking their itineraries and packing their suitcases in preparation for their trip to Europe so they can board their flight that departs Los Angeles, CA on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 3:25PM.
Chapter 22 - While Buck, Eddie and Chris spend the first 8 days of their European family adventure in Italy, their primary reason for going will be fulfilled as well as several others they hadn’t considered or anticipated.
Chapter 23 - As the Diaz Family continues their Italian family adventure, they’ll say, “Ciao” or hello and goodbye to a lot of things almost immediately after they become an official and legal family.
Chapter 24 - After Buck, Eddie and Chris arrive in London, England on December 24th; the Diazes immediately start preparing to spend their first family Christmas together. During their stay, each of them will hear a few choice words that will be the life raft to get them home to complete their searches to be seen and to be found.
Chapter 25 - After spending more than two weeks in Europe, Eddie, Buck and Chris are back in Los Angeles and they’re getting ready to attend Maddie and Chimney’s New Year’s Eve party. During the event, they have plans to make two surprise announcements but the question is, who’s really going to be surprised, the Diaz family or their found family at the 118?
Chapter 26 - Buck and Eddie are once again faced with their greatest fear of losing each other but this time it could be permanent and if it is, then they won’t be able to spend the rest of their lives together.
Chapter 27 - After Buck resumes therapy, he’ll continue to face the fact that he “DIED” in March 2023 and during those sessions, he’ll learn about the 7 stages of grief. As he continues his healing journey, Eddie will be right by his side just like he promised and the Diaz family will start to deal with their three minutes and seventeen seconds loss as a family.
Chapter 28 - Two years ago, Eddie was asked, “What are you afraid of?”; twice, once by Frank and once by Buck but he only answered one of them without deflecting. Since that time, he’s been to therapy and him and Buck got married but the question resurfaces when Frank asks Buck the same question and Buck asks it of Eddie for the second time. However, when Buck asks, his reasoning will be about something else entirely.
Chapter 29 - After Buck and Eddie have an emotionally intimate conversation regarding their dreams, they make several decisions that will affect their future. When everything falls into place, they’ll realize one of those decisions will result in them no longer being work partners.
Chapter 30 - In 2018, Buck and Eddie met at the 118 and after some initial apprehensions on Buck’s part, they became work partners and they agreed to have each other’s backs. It’s been more than 6 ½ years, a lot’s happened, they got married in December 2023 and they have the family they both chose. With Eddie leaving the 118 in 3 months and Buck getting closer to moving past his grief, what will him losing his work partner mean for him?
Chapter 31 - As Buck’s life hangs in the balance from what’s suspected to be another bradycardia event, Eddie’s by his bedside, their son is being cared for by relatives and their found family is in the waiting room. During this time, many questions will surface that could possibly lead to the truth but will everything be revealed before it’s too late?
Chapter 32 - On January 2, 2024, the figurative skies over the Diaz family became gray and filled with storm clouds. Buck’s recent trauma, Chris’ school project and Eddie’s paramedic studies combined with the attack on Buck’s life, all those things contributed to the grief they’ve been experiencing. However, as the middle of February approaches, will the dark clouds dissipate so blue skies can return?
Chapter 33 - Now that “New Beginnings” are on the horizon for the Diazes regarding their future as dual residents of the United States of America and Italy, Buck and Eddie review their career qualifications and they consider educational options for Chris.
Chapter 34 - Buck and Eddie are equals in their marriage, they wholeheartedly support one another and they agreed to discuss the big decisions that affect their family. Recent events have them facing a difficult one that will affect their dreams and Buck’s career, Eddie’s job location and plans for Chris’ educational future from both domestic and international perspectives are all included. While they’re visiting El Paso, TX, they’ll discuss the pros and cons of each option.
Chapter 35 - Will be posted soon.
Eddie journal his thoughts: Entry #118 - Future Tense
Currently 1 Completed Work; 5.3K Words: Rated; General Audiences:  This is a new FANON series I’ve created and titled “Eddie Journals His Thoughts” and it will include several journal entries he writes as a healthy way to therapeutically process and work through the thoughts and feelings he had at the end of season 7.  Some of the things he writes will be heavy and emotionally angsty while others will be domestically and romantically fluffy.  I HATED the way 9-1-1 didn’t let him talk to anyone about the way he was feeling at the end of 7x10 and it pissed me off when they let his parents abruptly show up and take Chris to El Paso, Texas with them.
__________
I'm excited to finish writing Chapters 35 and 36 because at the end of Chapter 34, the Diaz family had just returned home after spending the weekend in El Paso. A lot happened while they were there and Helena caused trouble like she usually does but Eddie permanently instituted the "no contact" provision he put into place in November 2023. Furthermore, they told their family about their home in Italy along with a portion of their timeline for when they're planning to relocate.
After they made it back to the hotel, Buck and Eddie had a long conversation about their employment options and they decided once Buck chose which career path he wanted to take, i.e., fire captain with the LAFD, FDNY or with an Italian firehouse, they would chose the option that best suited their family and it had to be one that would provide Chris with the best education. Buck made the decision to accept the job as a Food Network chef and right after he did, they listened to a voice message Bobby left for him while they were on their flight back to L.A. 👀
Here are two romantically fluffy snippets from Chapter 35. One is Eddie giving Buck a gift and the other is Buck giving Eddie a gift.
__________
It’s almost 1AM and even though Buck and Eddie had a long day, they’re in bed and they’re wide awake.  Eddie’s lying on his back and Buck’s practically covering his whole body with his own.  His head is buried between Eddie’s neck and shoulder and they’re pressed together from their chests to their hips with Buck’s legs positioned between Eddie’s in the space that was created just for him.
They love being like this and since things have been hectic all week and they’ll remain that way until they get back from Italy at the end of the month, they’re enjoying every moment they get to spend together.
Eddie’s rubbing his hand up and down his husband’s back and every few seconds, Buck places a soft kiss underneath Eddie’s earlobe.
After the fortieth or fiftieth kiss, Eddie’s not sure how many he’s given him because he’s not counting but he loves each and every one of them, he asks, “Amore mio, did you enjoy your celebration?”
He kisses him again, then he lifts his head, meets his eyes and responds, “Yes, babe.  It was great.  Me, you and Chris had a great time and…”  He presses his lips against his and after he pulls back, he says, “Dinner was great and I appreciate all the gifts.  Thank you.”
“You’re welcome and you know you don’t have to thank me.  You deserve every gift you receive and then some.”  He lifts his head and kisses him and when he ends it, he continues.  “We’re going to be together for the rest of our lives and I’m going to give you the whole world.  Until the end of time, remember?”
“I do.  Until the end of time.”
While continuing to look into those ocean blue eyes he loves so much, he admits, “I got you another gift.”
“You did?  But… you and Chris gave me a lot of gifts last night.”
“I know but those were from me and Chris, this one is from me.”  Without breaking eye contact, he slides his hand underneath Buck’s pillow, he put it there because Buck never stays on his side of the bed so he knew it would remain a secret.  Once he grabs the small velvet box, he hands it to him and says, “Amore mio, this is for you.”
Buck tilts his head to the side because he has no idea what it could be.  They’re already married and they have matching tungsten wedding and silicone rings and St. Christopher medals, so he’s curious to find out what it is.  He pushes himself up and moves to the other side of the bed and after he leans his back against the headboard, Eddie sits up too and turns on the lamp.
Once his eyes adjust to the light, he opens the box and when he sees what it is, his mouth falls open.  He wants to speak but he can’t and it takes him a few seconds to compose himself.  When he’s able to formulate what he wants to say, he whisper shouts, “Eddie!”
Eddie smiles so big his cheeks hurt.  “I saw it and I had to get it.”
“But this is a…”
What gift did Eddie get for Buck? 🙃
Is it something for New York or is it something for Italy? 🤷🏽‍♀️
~~~
About an hour later…
Eddie replies, “I like that idea.”
“Babe, this is going to be perfect for you.”  He tilts his head to the side and says, “Uh… hold on for just one second.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows and watches as his husband gets out of bed and walks to the dresser.
After Buck opens the bottom drawer, he removes a small velvet box, then he closes it and gets back into bed.
As Eddie quietly waits for him to get settled, he thinks about what could be inside of the box.  They already have silicone rings for when they go to work and they have matching wedding rings with identical inscriptions that read, “Ti amo!  Sempre e per sempre!” [“I love you!  Always and forever!”]  Also, they have the same St. Christopher medal so he’s curious to know what it is.
Once Buck leans his back against the headboard, he looks at him and explains, “Ok babe, I was going to give this to you tomorrow after you take your Advanced Care Paramedic final exam but uh… I know you’re going to pass so I don’t want to wait.  Since we just got finished talking about this, I believe now’s the perfect time for me to give it to you.”
He furrows his brow because until a few minutes ago, he hadn’t said anything to anyone about the thing he was thinking but he never worried if his husband would be on board since Buck believes in him.  It’s just they’re still celebrating Buck’s new job and he’s trying to understand how he could have known to get him something to highlight the thing they just discussed.  He says, “But amore mio, we’re celebrating you.”
“No babe, we’re celebrating us and I got you a gift too.”  He admits, then he hands it to him.
Eddie slowly nods and after he opens the box, his eyes widen at the sight of the object he sees.  He gasps and after he catches his breath, he exclaims, “My love, this is a…”
What gift did Buck get for Eddie? 👀
How did he know what to buy Eddie since he hadn’t told anyone about the thing he’s been thinking about for the last few days? 🤪
__________
Fic Summary: Months after Buck and Eddie were hit by the same lightning strike; they’re still struggling with the aftermath of it.  But before they make their love confessions, they’ll spend time getting to know themselves as individuals first. Eddie learns to enjoy the simple things in life as he participates in activities on his own and with new friends while Buck learns the rest of the 31-year-old deep dark family secret about his conception and birth. Their journey to forever is still a work in progress but once they finally admit they’re in love with each other, everything that follows their love confessions will be cataclysmic.

Chapter 33 - Now that “New Beginnings” are on the horizon for the Diazes regarding their future as dual residents of the United States of America and Italy, Buck and Eddie review their career qualifications and they consider educational options for Chris.

~~~
About an hour later…
Eddie replies, “I like that idea.”
“Babe, this is going to be perfect for you.”  He tilts his head to the side and says, “Uh… hold on for just one second.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows and watches as his husband gets out of bed and walks to the dresser.
After Buck opens the bottom drawer, he removes a small velvet box, then he closes it and gets back into bed.
As Eddie quietly waits for him to get settled, he thinks about what could be inside of the box.  They already have silicone rings for when they go to work and they have matching wedding rings with identical inscriptions that read, “Ti amo!  Sempre e per sempre!” [“I love you!  Always and forever!”]  Also, they have the same St. Christopher medal so he’s curious to know what it is.
Once Buck leans his back against the headboard, he looks at him and explains, “Ok babe, I was going to give this to you tomorrow after you take your Advanced Care Paramedic final exam but uh… I know you’re going to pass so I don’t want to wait.  Since we just got finished talking about this, I believe now’s the perfect time for me to give it to you.”
He furrows his brow because until a few minutes ago, he hadn’t said anything to anyone about the thing he was thinking but he never worried if his husband would be on board since Buck believes in him.  It’s just they’re still celebrating Buck’s new job and he’s trying to understand how he could have known to get him something to highlight the thing they just discussed.  He says, “But amore mio, we’re celebrating you.”
“No babe, we’re celebrating us and I got you a gift too.”  He admits, then he hands it to him.
Eddie slowly nods and after he opens the box, his eyes widen at the sight of the object he sees.  He gasps and after he catches his breath, he exclaims, “My love, this is a…”
What gift did Buck get for Eddie? 👀
How did he know what to buy Eddie since he hadn’t told anyone about the thing he’s been thinking about for the last few days? 🤪
__________
I'm excited to finish writing Chapters 35 and 36 because at the end of Chapter 34, the Diaz family had just returned home after spending the weekend in El Paso. A lot happened while they were there and Helena caused trouble like she usually does but Eddie permanently instituted the "no contact" provision he put into place in November 2023. Furthermore, they told their family about their home in Italy along with a portion of their timeline for when they're planning to relocate.
After they made it back to the hotel, Buck and Eddie had a long conversation about their employment options and they decided once Buck chose which career path he wanted to take, i.e., fire captain with the LAFD, FDNY or with an Italian firehouse, they would chose the option that best suited their family and it had to be one that would provide Chris with the best education. Buck made the decision to accept the job as a Food Network chef and right after he did, they listened to a voice message Bobby left for him while they were on their flight back to L.A. 👀
Here’s another snippet from Chapter 36 of Buck and Eddie having a conversation with the A-shift captain and his team while they're at the largest firehouse in Manhattan.
__________
After a couple of seconds of them standing in front of the open bay doors, a young man who appears to be maybe 21 years old, looks in their direction and he jogs over to meet them.  He’s wearing an FDNY uniform and once he’s standing in front of them, with a thick New York accent, he greets, “Hello.”
“Hello.”  Eddie and Buck simultaneously reply.
The young firefighter sticks his hand out and says, “Welcome to engine 11 ladder 29.  My name’s William but everyone here calls me Georgie...” He trails off when he sees their facial expressions.
Buck and Eddie look at each other then they look at him again and wait for an explanation.
“I already know what you’re thinking but George is my middle name and everyone on our team calls me by my nickname.  Are you hear to donate blood?”
“No, we aren’t.”  Eddie replies with a smile.
“Oh… ok, uh, how can I help you?  Are you in need of assistance?  I’m asking because I’m a fully trained firefighter and even though I’m still a probie, I can help you with any emergencies and I’m a licensed EMT too.  Everyone else is assisting with the blood drive but Cap has me greeting guests.”
They both smile because they can tell Georgie likes his job.  “Actually, we’re here because Chief Sanders suggested we stop by to visit with Captain Romeo Amato.”
His eyes widen and so does his smile, then he sticks his hand out to shake theirs then he asks, “Are you Buck and Eddie?”
“Uh… yeah we are but how did you know?”  Buck asks while shaking his hand.
As he shakes Eddie's hand, he replies, “Because when the chief was here, I overhead him talking to Cap.  If you’ll follow me, I’ll introduce you to him.”
“Thank you.”  Eddie replies.
“You’re welcome and Cap’s the one with the clipboard.”
They both chuckle in response because Buck loves clipboards and since their captain already uses one, it means the team is already use to it.
After they take a few steps inside, Georgie approaches the man with captain’s bars on his uniform shirt and says, “Cap, Buck and Eddie are here to see you.”
He looks up, smiles brightly, sticks out his hand to shake theirs and greets them with an even thicker New York accent, “Good afternoon, Buck and Eddie.  I’m Captain Romeo Amato and Chief Sanders told me you might be stopping by.”
Eddie extends his own and shakes his.  “Thank you and we’re happy to be here.  I’m Eddie and this is my husband Buck.”
“Pleased to meet both of you.”
Buck shakes his hand and responds, “It’s nice to meet you too.”
“Welcome to engine 11 ladder 29 and please forgive us for being so busy but we’re in the middle of one of our semi-annual blood drives and the team is all over the firehouse helping out.  I’m going to give you a tour of the house and I’ll introduce you to everyone else but you’ve already met Georgie.  He’s our newest probie and in a few weeks, he’ll be inducted as a full firefighter.”
Georgie smiles and says, “Thanks Cap.”
“You’re welcome.”  He says as he hands him the clipboard.  “Could you take this to my lieutenant so he can take over while I introduce Buck and Eddie to the team?”
“Sure thing, Cap.”
After he walks away, Captain Amato continues.  “I want to introduce you to the A-shift team since I see four of them standing over there together.”
Buck raises his eyebrows and Eddie does too because they work with A-shift in L.A.  They follow him to a group of three men and one woman who are wearing FDNY uniforms and they’re assisting some of the blood donors.
Once the civilians walk away, Captain Amato says, “Alright team, listen up.  I want to introduce you to two firefighters from the west coast.  They work for the LAFD and they’re here visiting New York for a few days.”
All of them smile and reply, “Hi.”
“Hello.”  Buck and Eddie respond in unison.
“Buck and Eddie this is A/C, Bea, Huck and Teddy and everyone this is Buck and Eddie.”
When they finish shaking hands, A/C asks, “So… is Buck your real name?”
“Uh… no it isn’t.  My legal name is Evan but I go by Buck.”
“That sounds like you, Huck.”  Bea replies.
He raises his eyebrows.  “Well, Bea, that’s not your real name either.”
“But it is part of my first name.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows.  “It sounds like you two go by your nicknames, right?”
“Yes we do.  My real name is Beatrice but I go Bea because I like it better than my first name.”
Buck and Eddie nod while Captain Amato chuckles and shakes his head like he’s heard these stories before.
“Why do you go by Huck?”  Buck asks.
“My legal name is Ivan and my last name is Huckleberry so I took part of my last name and made it a nickname.”
Buck nods.  “I understand.”
“All of us use nicknames because my legal name is Frederico but I go by Freddie.  No one calls me Frederico except for my parents and even they don’t use it that much anymore.”
A/C laughs and with a big grin, he replies, “What about that woman you dated who kept calling you Frederico?”
Bea and Huck laugh out loud.
Freddie rolls his eyes.  “Don’t remind me about Lana that woman was determined to call me by my legal name because it was her grandfather’s name too.”
Eddie and Buck look at each other because that sounds familiar.
“Anyway, A/C you’re one to talk because your legal name is Harold.”
Everyone laughs and after they finish, Buck inquisitively asks, “I—I ok, why do you all call him A/C?”
“Because he got…”
A/C interrupts him.  “Hey… Freddie, watch it because we don’t tell people who weren’t here when it happened that story.”
They all laugh including Buck and Eddie because that sounds like something Chimney would say.
Why are Buck and Eddie at the largest fire station in Manhattan talking to the captain, two paramedics and two firefighters? 👀
Hi Everyone!
Happy Holidays to all!
It’s been a minute since I provided an update on here. I have occasionally been pushing update news on X/Twt, but I want to try to provide more frequent status updates in the future.
First things first…. An update on Sideways.
I shared two updates to Act 6 in September. Those updates were substantial, especially Chapter 5. This leads me to where I am now.
Chapter 7: Wes Begins—I thought I completed the final draft in August/September. I was utterly wrong. The original plan was to have part of Wes’s back story in Chapter 7 and then part in Chapter 10. While editing, I noticed several story chunks were missing, making the chapter difficult to read. I obviously know what the missing pieces are, but when I shared with my beta, they also pointed out some concerns with the missing pieces.
This meant I needed to overhaul the Chapter and reevaluate what went into Chapter 7 and what went into Chapter 10.
I have been fiddling with it since then. As it stands now, Chapter 7 has reached a length of roughly 72,000 words, and contains 27 flashbacks. Yeah… I know that is a lot for a single chapter of a fan fic... I wish I had allowed Wes Begins to have its own arc, but the reality is that it belongs where it is in the story.
I am working very hard on finishing it up and polishing it for publication as soon as possible. Ideally, I wanted to have this arc completed before the end of the year, but that's just not possible.
Chapters 8 and 9 are complete, and barring any drastic editing changes I need to make to Chapter 7, they will be posted in quick succession.
Now to a bigger conundrum... Chapter 10.  When moving things around to fit where they belong, I had to decimate the original draft of chapter 10. It is going to be another big chapter, but not nearly as big as Wes Begins. (I hope)
Chapter 11 will be cruise shenanigans and fluff!
Chapter 12 will also be fun and fluffy. Family feels!
Chapter 13…. Yes, I had added a new chapter to the outline to give everything more room to breathe and no crunch and rush the cruise fun. Chapter 13 will be when the shit hits the fan… again. This chapter does end on cliffhangers. But it’s not focused on our boys. It is focused on El Paso.
This leads me to Arc 7 Strong…
I have said this before: This arc is emotionally heavy for Eddie. Eddie will need his friends and family like never before. A few people shine as support for Eddie in this Arc… Buck, Wes, Cole, Maddie, and Tyler… (insert evil smile) This chapter is inspired by Strong by Romy and Fred Again
I want to finish Arc 6 and then wrap up some of the other fics I have left sitting in limbo for too long. Then I will fully dive into Act 7
Since I last updated here, I have pushed a few other fics out.
You're The First, The Last, My Everything
This is an 8x06 Coda… and may take on what should have happened after Eddie’s Risky business dance. It's fun and fluffy.
L'amour Toujours
This one was just self-indulgent. I needed a break from other works, and this was born. I wanted them to be stupid and silly. Have fun, sing and dance, and boom… Expect a lot of 90’s dance music!
There is a plot point here that will come back up in Sideways.
I Shall Take The Heart
As the members of the 118 slowly put their lives back together, Eddie takes a brave step in his relationship with Buck. There is only one thing missing, Christopher. As the youngest Diaz flies home, the 118 get word of an emergency landing at LAX…
Multi Chaptered Complete
Desperate, Devastated, and Destroyed Diaz
Arc 1 - With Every Heartbeat
Four simple words from Buck send Eddie into a spiral and start a chain of events that will change their relationship. They both need to work through things and their feelings. However, relationships, even one as strong as Buck and Eddie's, are never simple, especially when you hide parts of yourself from each other.
Multiple Chaptered… 6/8 Posted
Arc 2 Stargazing Planned for January
Buck POV… Eddie’s gone… Well, he’s not gone; he’s taking some time to himself after Christopher flees to El Paso. Buck… he’s not dealing with it well… Harsh words are exchanged, and Buck and Eddie’s lives are changed forever.
Arc 3 Something To Hold On To
Buck and Eddie POV’s … In the aftermath of a life-changing event, Buck and Eddie struggle to pick up the pieces of their lives… if only they had something to hold on to… each other.
Future Projects –
Second Star To The Right – Yes, that is a Peter Pan Reference
By The Light Of The Moon -  Season 8 Werewolf Eddie Fic… Teen Wolf Crossover
Future Shock
3 Part Series - Magic/BAMF/Mayhem/Found Family/Soul Mates/Redux/Ryan throws the timeline into a blender, and tada...
I have a lot of this plotted out… some chapters are written…, but I'm struggling to figure out what comes first. Do I show the future and then go back to the past and what led to it, or do I start in the past and then do the time jump…
As It Is
2030 and the 118 have been fractured since the lawsuit. When members of the team start to be picked off one by one, Hen, Chim, and Bobby have no one to turn to until friends and family return in their most desperate hour.
As It Was
Details what led to the fracturing of the 118. It is a retelling of Season 2 and part of Season 3.
As It Was Always Meant To Be
Now reunited, will the 118 be able to rally around each other, or will their painful past be too much to overcome?
This will be very large… I am unsure when I'll finish, but I have been spending time on it when I need a break from the other works.
Five By Five -
Buck and Eddie have been through a lot over the years. What if there was more to their relationship than anyone else knew about.  AKA how Buck and Eddie fell into each other's arms after each trauma. Secret Relationship Fic
Relationship Goals—
In an effort to rebuild their friendship after their recent relationships crash and burn, Buck and Eddie join a local hockey team along with some of Buck's old seal friends. This was pure fan service to myself and a way to get Buck, Eddie, Wes, and Cole to play hockey and not have to do it on Sideways. This currently sits around 60 pages.
Stolen -
A stolen kiss changes everything between Buck and Eddie... This angst fest is somehow incredibly soft... This is about 35 pages right now...
The Ties That Bind - Buck breakdown fic... On Hold
All I Want for Christmas— On Hold …
Think Scrooged vs. It's a Wonderful Life vs. 911. On Hold
A few one-shots floating around will probably get posted sooner rather than later.
Some other things to come… at some point… if I ever get my shit together!
Amnesia Eddie Fic … Begin Again… Elements… Murder husbands… Once, Twice, Always… Presumed Deadie, Season 4 Redux, Slasher, Untitled End Of The World, Vampire AU, Horror AU…
Taking a Sick Day
Fanonwriter2023 on AO3
Where CANON and FANON collide!
New Buddie Fanfic: Taking a Sick Day - Eddie’s sick and Buck takes care of him.
2.1K Words; Rated: General Audiences
This is a ficlet that I've been wanting to write for a few weeks and it includes Buck taking care of Eddie when he gets sick. That's the fic!
___________
Here's a snippet of Buck after he wakes up because he can tell Eddie's temperature has gone up.
___________
While Buck’s sleeping, he feels something heat up against his neck and it’s so warm that it jolts him out of his sleep. He opens his eyes, turns his head and immediately he realizes it’s Eddie’s body temperature. When he took it with the thermometer last night, it was 100.2 degrees Fahrenheit which is a little high but it hadn’t reach a dangerous level. But it’s different now since he can tell it’s higher and to him it feels like he’s burning up.
He doesn’t want to wake him because it took so long for him to finally drift off but he needs to just in case they have to go to the hospital. He gently rubs his hand up and down his back and says, “Babe, I need you to wake up for me.”
After a few seconds, he feels his breath brush across his neck, then he sleepily hums, “Hmm?”
“Babe, I need to check your temperature.”
Slowly he opens his eyes and lifts his head. Once they’re facing, Buck can tell just by looking at him that he’s not doing well.
“Come on… I want to take your temperature again because it feels like you’re fever has gone up.”
He nods and as he sits up, he starts coughing and he can’t stop.
More than Seven Sentence Sunday
This fic will be posted on the 23rd I think. I haven't written the prompt into it yet, the idea just came to me.
This is crack with light smut, though this snippet doesn't contain it.
Also background info: they're all (well, not Buck) drunk. Like. Wasted. And Eddie just got dared.
“Send nudes,” Eddie says as he types. Then he clicks send. “Done.”
“What?!” Maddie screams, “No! You didn’t!”
“I did.”
“No!” Hen says, grabbing Eddie’s phone to look at it. “Oh, my God! Eddie!”
“This is gonna be amazing,” Karen says, grabbing the almost empty bowl of popcorn.
May shakes her head, “You guys are so weird.”
“Buck is a responsible adult,” Athena says, “He would never actually-“
Eddie has never heard Hen scream so high pitched. She drops Eddie’s phone onto the ground. “MY EYES!”
“NO!” Maddie screams at her, “He didn’t?”
“He did!” Hen confirms.
Several Sentences Sunday
Where CANON and FANON collide!
FANON FanFic: Buddie Multi-Chapter - “I’m still in love with you but... I needed to learn how to love myself too!”
Chapters 35 & 36 will be posted soon.
This is an EPIC LOVE STORY!
Tumblr media
Currently 34 chapters completed: 1.585M Words; Rated: Mature
__________
I'm excited to finish writing Chapters 35 and 36 because at the end of Chapter 34, the Diaz family had just returned home after spending the weekend in El Paso. A lot happened while they were there and Helena caused trouble like she usually does but Eddie permanently instituted the "no contact" provision he put into place in November 2023. Furthermore, they told their family about their home in Italy along with a portion of their timeline for when they're planning to relocate.
After they made it back to the hotel, Buck and Eddie had a long conversation about their employment options and they decided once Buck chose which career path he wanted to take, i.e., fire captain with the LAFD, FDNY or with an Italian firehouse, they would chose the option that best suited their family and it had to be one that would provide Chris with the best education. Buck made the decision to accept the job as a Food Network chef and right after he did, they listened to a voice message Bobby left for him while they were on their flight back to L.A. 👀
__________
Here’s another snippet from Chapter 36 of Buck and Eddie having a conversation with the A-shift captain and his team while they're at the largest firehouse in Manhattan.
__________
After a couple of seconds of them standing in front of the open bay doors, a young man who appears to be maybe 21 years old, looks in their direction and he jogs over to meet them.  He’s wearing an FDNY uniform and once he’s standing in front of them, with a thick New York accent, he greets, “Hello.”
“Hello.”  Eddie and Buck simultaneously reply.
The young firefighter sticks his hand out and says, “Welcome to engine 11 ladder 29.  My name’s William but everyone here calls me Georgie...” He trails off when he sees their facial expressions.
Buck and Eddie look at each other then they look at him again and wait for an explanation.
“I already know what you’re thinking but George is my middle name and everyone on our team calls me by my nickname.  Are you hear to donate blood?”
“No, we aren’t.”  Eddie replies with a smile.
“Oh… ok, uh, how can I help you?  Are you in need of assistance?  I’m asking because I’m a fully trained firefighter and even though I’m still a probie, I can help you with any emergencies and I’m a licensed EMT too.  Everyone else is assisting with the blood drive but Cap has me greeting guests.”
They both smile because they can tell Georgie likes his job.  “Actually, we’re here because Chief Sanders suggested we stop by to visit with Captain Romeo Amato.”
His eyes widen and so does his smile, then he sticks his hand out to shake theirs then he asks, “Are you Buck and Eddie?”
“Uh… yeah we are but how did you know?”  Buck asks while shaking his hand.
As he shakes Eddie's hand, he replies, “Because when the chief was here, I overhead him talking to Cap.  If you’ll follow me, I’ll introduce you to him.”
“Thank you.”  Eddie replies.
“You’re welcome and Cap’s the one with the clipboard.”
They both chuckle in response because Buck loves clipboards and since their captain already uses one, it means the team is already use to it.
After they take a few steps inside, Georgie approaches the man with captain’s bars on his uniform shirt and says, “Cap, Buck and Eddie are here to see you.”
He looks up, smiles brightly, sticks out his hand to shake theirs and greets them with an even thicker New York accent, “Good afternoon, Buck and Eddie.  I’m Captain Romeo Amato and Chief Sanders told me you might be stopping by.”
Eddie extends his own and shakes his.  “Thank you and we’re happy to be here.  I’m Eddie and this is my husband Buck.”
“Pleased to meet both of you.”
Buck shakes his hand and responds, “It’s nice to meet you too.”
“Welcome to engine 11 ladder 29 and please forgive us for being so busy but we’re in the middle of one of our semi-annual blood drives and the team is all over the firehouse helping out.  I’m going to give you a tour of the house and I’ll introduce you to everyone else but you’ve already met Georgie.  He’s our newest probie and in a few weeks, he’ll be inducted as a full firefighter.”
Georgie smiles and says, “Thanks Cap.”
“You’re welcome.”  He says as he hands him the clipboard.  “Could you take this to my lieutenant so he can take over while I introduce Buck and Eddie to the team?”
“Sure thing, Cap.”
After he walks away, Captain Amato continues.  “I want to introduce you to the A-shift team since I see four of them standing over there together.”
Buck raises his eyebrows and Eddie does too because they work with A-shift in L.A.  They follow him to a group of three men and one woman who are wearing FDNY uniforms and they’re assisting some of the blood donors.
Once the civilians walk away, Captain Amato says, “Alright team, listen up.  I want to introduce you to two firefighters from the west coast.  They work for the LAFD and they’re here visiting New York for a few days.”
All of them smile and reply, “Hi.”
“Hello.”  Buck and Eddie respond in unison.
“Buck and Eddie this is A/C, Bea, Huck and Teddy and everyone this is Buck and Eddie.”
When they finish shaking hands, A/C asks, “So… is Buck your real name?”
“Uh… no it isn’t.  My legal name is Evan but I go by Buck.”
“That sounds like you, Huck.”  Bea replies.
He raises his eyebrows.  “Well, Bea, that’s not your real name either.”
“But it is part of my first name.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows.  “It sounds like you two go by your nicknames, right?”
“Yes we do.  My real name is Beatrice but I go Bea because I like it better than my first name.”
Buck and Eddie nod while Captain Amato chuckles and shakes his head like he’s heard these stories before.
“Why do you go by Huck?”  Buck asks.
“My legal name is Ivan and my last name is Huckleberry so I took part of my last name and made it a nickname.”
Buck nods.  “I understand.”
“All of us use nicknames because my legal name is Frederico but I go by Freddie.  No one calls me Frederico except for my parents and even they don’t use it that much anymore.”
A/C laughs and with a big grin, he replies, “What about that woman you dated who kept calling you Frederico?”
Bea and Huck laugh out loud.
Freddie rolls his eyes.  “Don’t remind me about Lana that woman was determined to call me by my legal name because it was her grandfather’s name too.”
Eddie and Buck look at each other because that sounds familiar.
“Anyway, A/C you’re one to talk because your legal name is Harold.”
Everyone laughs and after they finish, Buck inquisitively asks, “I—I ok, why do you all call him A/C?”
“Because he got…”
A/C interrupts him.  “Hey… Freddie, watch it because we don’t tell people who weren’t here when it happened that story.”
They all laugh including Buck and Eddie because that sounds like something Chimney would say.
Why are Buck and Eddie at the largest fire station in Manhattan talking to the captain, two paramedics and two firefighters? 👀
__________
Fic Summary: Months after Buck and Eddie were hit by the same lightning strike; they’re still struggling with the aftermath of it.  But before they make their love confessions, they’ll spend time getting to know themselves as individuals first. Chapter 7 - After Buck’s mental breakdown, Eddie has his back the same way Buck had his when he had his own breakdown more than a year ago.  They share several vulnerable and emotionally intimate moments with one another and they begin to realize their small, sweet and caring gestures matter just as much if not more than any grand gesture ever could because these are the foundations of a long-lasting love relationship.
Chapter 11 - A “virga” or dry thunderstorm is in the forecast but once the rain starts, the thunderstorm happening outside won’t be able to match the storm brewing inside between Buck and Eddie.  It’s the universe’s final scream and when the tumultuous winds begin to blow, they’ll have one last chance to hold onto everything they’ve built over the last six years or they’ll lose it all forever.
Chapter 13 - While navigating the newness of their romantic relationship, Buck and Eddie take advantage of every moment they spend together. As their individual lives, people from their pasts, time constraints and the possibility of losing each other again make attempts to interrupt and interfere with their journey to forever, they love, care for, support and hold onto each other even tighter to withstand it all.
Chapter 14 - Buck and Eddie can see the lights at the end of the tunnels regarding the results of Buck’s Cancer Screening along with everything else they’re dealing with. Chapter 17 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to departing Los Angeles for their international adventure, a moment in time will remind them; life is fragile, tomorrow isn’t promised and every second of everyday should be cherished because everything can change in an instant. The result of that realization will cause them to hold onto each other even more.
Chapter 18 - As Buck, Eddie and Chris prepare for family gatherings before and during the Thanksgiving holiday, the “Santa Ana Winds” start to blow and all sorts of expected and unexpected familial drama ensues.
Chapter 21 - Buck, Eddie and Chris are finalizing their ‘To Do’ Lists, double checking their itineraries and packing their suitcases in preparation for their trip to Europe so they can board their flight that departs Los Angeles, CA on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 3:25PM.
Chapter 25 - After spending more than two weeks in Europe, Eddie, Buck and Chris are back in Los Angeles and they’re getting ready to attend Maddie and Chimney’s New Year’s Eve party. During the event, they have plans to make two surprise announcements but the question is, who’s really going to be surprised, the Diaz family or their found family at the 118?
Chapter 26 - Buck and Eddie are once again faced with their greatest fear of losing each other but this time it could be permanent and if it is, then they won’t be able to spend the rest of their lives together.
Chapter 27 - After Buck resumes therapy, he’ll continue to face the fact that he “DIED” in March 2023 and during those sessions, he’ll learn about the 7 stages of grief. As he continues his healing journey, Eddie will be right by his side just like he promised and the Diaz family will start to deal with their three minutes and seventeen seconds loss as a family.
Chapter 28 - Two years ago, Eddie was asked, “What are you afraid of?”; twice, once by Frank and once by Buck but he only answered one of them without deflecting. Since that time, he’s been to therapy and him and Buck got married but the question resurfaces when Frank asks Buck the same question and Buck asks it of Eddie for the second time. However, when Buck asks, his reasoning will be about something else entirely.
Chapter 29 - After Buck and Eddie have an emotionally intimate conversation regarding their dreams, they make several decisions that will affect their future. When everything falls into place, they’ll realize one of those decisions will result in them no longer being work partners.
Chapter 30 - In 2018, Buck and Eddie met at the 118 and after some initial apprehensions on Buck’s part, they became work partners and they agreed to have each other’s backs. It’s been more than 6 ½ years, a lot’s happened, they got married in December 2023 and they have the family they both chose. With Eddie leaving the 118 in 3 months and Buck getting closer to moving past his grief, what will him losing his work partner mean for him?
Chapter 31 - As Buck’s life hangs in the balance from what’s suspected to be another bradycardia event, Eddie’s by his bedside, their son is being cared for by relatives and their found family is in the waiting room. During this time, many questions will surface that could possibly lead to the truth but will everything be revealed before it’s too late?
Chapter 32 - On January 2, 2024, the figurative skies over the Diaz family became gray and filled with storm clouds. Buck’s recent trauma, Chris’ school project and Eddie’s paramedic studies combined with the attack on Buck’s life, all those things contributed to the grief they’ve been experiencing. However, as the middle of February approaches, will the dark clouds dissipate so blue skies can return?
Chapter 33 - Now that “New Beginnings” are on the horizon for the Diazes regarding their future as dual residents of the United States of America and Italy, Buck and Eddie review their career qualifications and they consider educational options for Chris.
Chapter 34 - Buck and Eddie are equals in their marriage, they wholeheartedly support one another and they agreed to discuss the big decisions that affect their family. Recent events have them facing a difficult one that will affect their dreams and Buck’s career, Eddie’s job location and plans for Chris’ educational future from both domestic and international perspectives are all included. While they’re visiting El Paso, TX, they’ll discuss the pros and cons of each option.
