“I would of course. I’ll write a sappy letter inside of it for you even.” Jason doesn’t see anyone other than his family wanting to read it anyway. He doesn’t mind, just wanting a way of keeping these traditions alive in his family when he’s gone. Which is a strange concept. He already died once, but now he doesn’t want to leave. “Go ahead. I’ll be right here waiting for you to get back.” Jason says as he unwraps his arm from around Forrest.
“Further proof that you’re one of the best dads in the world,” Forrest complimented as he slowly rose from the couch and held Jordan close. “Be right back,” he promised before he made way towards his son’s room. The one year old was carefully placed in the little toddler bed then tucked in with a light blanket. “Sleep well bud,” the 20 year old whispered before he left the room and headed back. “Now, where were we? Think it was critiques about reality TV and cook book titles?”

“I have a degree in psychology actually, which is probably why I’m always thinking about it.” Hayden thinks that the lessons come in handy when in the field, but that’s about mostly what he uses it for. It helps when talking to others. “No need to think too hard on it, we could be here all day debating it honesty.” He chuckles. “Creative writing is cool though!”
“That’s really cool and that is also quite true,” Forrest commented as he stopped tossing the wrapper then held a hand out in an offer to take Hayden’s. “Yeah, we could make a couple or more hours pass discussing that alone. That doesn’t even begin to cover the whole other host of potential topics. But Creative Writing is also a cool major. I don’t regret choosing it for a second.”

Axel walks inside of the place, looking around at how busy it was. There wasn’t too big of a crowd though, which makes him glad they game at this time. It could have been a lot worse. “What a gentleman.” He laughs softly as he looks back at his friend, stopping to look at the menu.
“I don’t mind the unpredictable. It might be wishful thinking though, it’s be nice though wouldn’t it? If there was no evil in the world?” Which is almost ironic for a thief to be saying no less. “What are you going to get?”
“That’s me, Forrest Harper-Todd, local gentleman,” the 20 year old responded as he gave another small bow. His gaze soon flicked to the menu and he tried to remember which of his favorites he’d had recently. But then Axel’s voice grabbed his attention once again, so the conversation at hand took top priority.
“That would definitely be nice. But the same time, I suppose power struggles are one of the many things that make the world go round,” Forrest commented then took another glance at the offered flavors. “I’m gonna go with rocky road. Been awhile since I last had that.”

Jason wishes sometimes that he had been able to go finish school, but it was too late by the time he was alive again. He only has the schooling experience of a fifteen year old, but luckily for him Jason was a genius. He was the smartest kid in his class when he was enrolled — so he never had a problem never graduating. “I’m honored, that’s very sweet of you. Now I really do need to write a cook book.”
“It’s sweet and it’s the truth. You’re one of the best teachers I could ask for. I look forward to reading it. Would you be alright with giving me one of the first copies?” Forrest questioned. He glanced down when Jordan shifted slightly in his arms and an apologetic look appeared on his face. “Mind if I go lay Mr. Sleepy down in his room then come back? Because I’ve got a few more critiques about this show as well as a few ideas for the title of your cook book.”

“Now, THAT? It really touches my heart.” Axel says as he places a hand on his chest. He doesn’t ever really think that he was SUPER — his dads? Maybe so, but he definitely wasn’t. He doesn’t mind the praise though, happily taking it.
“Yeah we can do that. The world is full of shady people is all, but there’s also so many good ones there too. I guess that’s the beauty of the world as we never know what we’re going to get from people.” Axel says with slight laugh.
“Hey, it’s the truth or my version of it at the very least,” Forrest responded with a soft smile as he came to a stop at their destination. He held the door open for Axel then gave a small bow as he did so. “After you my good sir,” the Creative Writing major added.
He gave a soft laugh of his own followed up by a nod of agreement. “Yeah, there’s something about that unpredictability that can be cool from time to time. But at the same time, it would be cool if we just treat one another kindly with no hesitation regardless of differences. Think that’s a bit too much wishful thinking?”

“The brain is a funny thing sometimes in that regard.” Hayden replies honestly, as he knows that his own was always playing tricks on him far as he’s concerned. It wasn’t his fault, but he was living with it. He finishes his sandwich, crumpling up the wrapper with ease. “Everyone’s always looking for some reason to argue with someone.”
“Yeah, the brain is capable of pretty wild things in just about every regard,” Forrest agreed then started to crumple up his own wrapper and tossed it between his hands. “If that ain’t the truth, I don’t know what is. I think it’s part of human nature or something along the lines of that. But then again, my major is Creative Writing and not Psychology.”

“They thrive off of the shock value.” Jason finds it annoying because at the last ten minutes something major happens then you’re left waiting another week to find out what happens only to be disappointed. It was safe to say that he doesn’t watch much reality tv outside of cooking or baking shows. “I know you will. You bake better than all of the idiots on this show.” He says waving vaguely toward the screen.
Forrest nodded because that seemed to be a major truth for many reality shows. Years upon years of practice and precedence led to the development of cliches he hoped to improve or change completely if he did any work with that type of TV. Truth be told, any job would be more than fine by him as long he had reason to enjoy it and it put food on the table as well as money to be saved for Jordan. “Thank you very much. I learned the grand majority of what I know from you and there is a little sliver of info that I actually remember from high school.”

“It would be cool if it actually works.” Hayden admits as he thinks about it. It could be dangerous, but also wonders how they’d tell what you picked up. It could be interesting, technology was always advancing beyond what he could ever imagine possible. “I don’t like holding people up either, but sometimes it just be like that.”
“It certainly would be cool and you’re right. Honestly, my brain just loves to play little tricks like that from to time,” Forrest stated then took a moment to lightly clear his throat. “It’s like hey, you shouldn’t be standing in line anymore. Everybody is going to think you’re rude and a generally terrible person,” he chuckled as he finished his imitation of an inner voice.

“Only time will tell my friend.” Axel admits with a smile. “You never now could get something completely random. I don’t have powers of my own though so I’m no expert.” He just wants to throw it out there, although the technology he makes for himself is probably a little deceiving.
There’s another laugh. “I’ve had people get close to me, sleep with me, and then steal the money out of my wallet while I’m asleep. I’ve also had people fuck me over thinking it would save their ass.” He shrugs his shoulders.
“You got that right on all notes, but I wouldn’t be so sure about the power thing. You’re a super friend,” Forrest remarked with a light laugh. All the same though, he’s serious about the compliment. He’s never hesitated to sing the praises of family and friends over the years, with occasional literal singing.
“I would ask what the world has come to, but something tells me that would take awhile to investigate,” he stated with a light sigh. “Shall we just agree to sum it up with the phrase people can be unpredictable? Not too much of a stretch, right?”

“It makes me feel better that I’m not the only one. You watch them do these things, and I can’t believe they’d forget something so simple.” Jason shrugs his shoulders gently, leaning back more against the couch. “I’m so ready for the cake of a lifetime. I had it once a few years ago and have been craving it ever since. I always have faith in you.” It was one of his favorites even if he doesn’t have it all that often.
“Tis the beauty of predictable reality TV. You almost always know that something is going to go wrong at some point during the episode. Mishaps like that have a way of bringing viewers back to see what will go downhill next week.” Forrest’s soft smile remained when the vote of confidence hit his ears and he made a quick mental vow that he would give this cake baking adventure his all. “Well, not to toot my own horn, but I’ve been paying attention to the masters at work. Think I’ll live up to expectations quite well.”

Hayden laughs after his new friend is telling the story. “Fifteen minutes isn’t even that bad really depending on the store you’re at.” He knows retail stores can get really backed up sometimes. “Sounds like your friend needs to learn some patience with that one, but people want everything done instantly. You hear some company is trying to make a store with no checkouts. They just email you their bills I think.”
“That’s what I tried to tell my friend,” Forrest complained in a joking manner. Green eyes went wide for just a split second at the mention of emailed bills. “Honestly, call me a hypocrite until the next century all you wish, but sign me the hell up for that. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m probably one of the most patient people known to man. At the same time though, it honestly just sounds so cool and would save me the fear that I’m holding people up.”

“It would be ironic, then you would really have trouble keeping up with him. They’re cute when they’re not throwing a tantrum WHILE running at least.” Axel laughs, but he knows even if his own daughter turns out to be a mutant he’s love her all the same.
“Exactly — family are the main ones you can count on. Plus a few good friends in the mix too. I’ve seen how quickly people are willing to fuck you for some cash.”
“You’re preaching to the choir right there. Honestly, I’m just hoping that he either gets one of my powers or takes after his other dad,” Forrest commented with a light chuckle. Truth be told, he wouldn’t mind either way if Jordan got a power, two or more powers, or none at all. He’d love his son just the same.
“Definitely a few good friends. There’s probably a point where they feel more like family, to be quite honest. But did you mean to say fuck you over for cash or did you mean fuck you for cash?”

“When bakers on these shows don’t properly measure out their ingredients then that makes me embarrassed for them.” Jason knows that with cooking you can guess like that, but baking was an exact science. He thinks about what he wants for a cake this year — and he doesn’t have to think hard about it. “You know what would be amazing? Chocolate maybe with a raspberry filling.” He says with a grin since that is something he’d like to have right now.
Forrest gave a nod of agreement as he listened to his dad before he commented, “Second hand embarrassment and that happens to me too whenever I watch stuff like this. Like, c’mon, you should know that things could go downhill very quickly as a result of your carelessness.” He then made a mental note of the cake that Jason wanted and that he should probably do research on the filling process sometime before the big day. “I can definitely make that happen. Better start preparing yourself now for the cake of a lifetime.”

“There’s good AND bad about it so you’re right. Everyone wants things to be done instantly, no patience left in the world. You ever see people in stores getting antsy because they’re not cashed out in under a minute?” Hayden laughs at now FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS this sounds, but this was the world that they’re living in now.
“Hit the nail on the head with that one,” he remarked then gave a light laugh of his own as a particular memory popped back up. “Have I got a story for you about that one. Alright, so I was at the student union with a friend of mine my freshman year of college. Most impatient guy I’ve ever met in my entire life and I think he almost blew a gasket because we were standing in the checkout line for at least fifteen minutes.”

“Yeah? I don’t know, just seen too much growing up.” Axel feels like if God exists then why did he let him stay growing up in the system like that? He doesn’t dwell on it though. “Ha! Jordan running around yet?” He asks although he adopted his own daughter when she was a little older than that, but knows the feeling anyway.
“Family is great — can’t go wrong with that.” He says as he reflects on his siblings and fathers.
“I get that,” Forrest simply answered because he’d seen and heard plenty over the years. He’d definitely lucked out in a few more aspects, but there were just some things that never faded with time. “Yeah, he’s just dashing around on the daily. If he turns out to be a speedster then that’s going to be a fun little adventure,” he remarked with a low whistle at the end.
“Couldn’t agree more. After all, people come and go through life, but family’s something else. They’re some of the few people who stick around.”

❝ Gentlemanly politeness. ❞ Cyrus repeated , more so the TONE earning a chuckle from the blonde rather than the words that were spoken with it. A single finger tapped the button as well as the shortcut to pay , Cyrus setting his phone on the table and then crossing his arms. ❝ Just buy me dinner or somethin’ - I dunno. Like , it could be fuckin’McDonald’s or something and I’d still be grateful. Only condition is you have to kiss my knuckles and call me milord the entire night since y’know , you’re such a gentleman n’ all. ❞
“Of course. There should be no problem with meeting those conditions and going an extra mile or two,” Forrest confirmed then made a mental note to brush up on favorite restaurants when he got a minute. He hopped up from his seat as he stretched a hint and tried to get rid of the fatigue that way. “Alright, so what do you want to do while we wait? Got any new tricks up your sleeve you want to show off? Just generally chitchat? Or I could try to talk until you fall asleep by going on at length about an idea I have.”

“I’m not personally, but totally respect that you are.” Axel says with a grin as he nudged his friend gently with his elbow. He takes a deep breath as he moves through the street. “They grow up so fast it blows my mind.” He says since on his daughter’s next birthday she will be turning eight! Which is so crazy to think about every time he does.
“It’s always good to make time for yourself too.” Axel gives the advice, even if that’s just five minutes you have to make room for the time.
“Funny story, I’m not either,” Forrest answered with a grin of his own. That ship had sailed long, long ago. The topic got switched back to their respective kids and it was a welcome change in the 20 year old’s opinion. “You can say that again. Feels just like yesterday Jordan was a happy little baby. Now, he’s a happy Tasmanian Devil of an 18 month old.”
“I know it is and I try,” the younger responded. “I’m just a sucker for spending time with loved ones and sitting in front of blank documents.”
