The final part of my “Casper’s Spectral Spectacle” Prequel Fic
Part One Part Two
————————————————————
The tension in the dark foyer was palpable.
Kat was pacing nervously, occasionally looking towards the center of the floor. The Trio watched her dispassionately, Stretch smoking a cigarette he pulled out of nowhere.
Dr. Harvey simply stood in place, hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable as he stared at the corner of the room.
The foyer lit up with faint green light as Kibosh slowly rose through the floor. Casper followed shortly after and quickly made his way towards Kat and Dr. Harvey. He gave a concerned Kat a look to show he was ok, then turned to Kibosh and waited.
Stretch pinched the tip of his cigarette then flicked it away. He folded his arms as he and his brothers looked up at the green intruder with wariness and disdain.
“So,” Kibosh intoned, looking down at the Harveys and Casper with a bored expression. “It would seem that this…Lazarus,” he ground the name out with disgust. “Has been rendered well and truly useless.”
Casper allowed some of the tension he was feeling bleed out. Good. That meant the machine could no longer be used for evil purposes. The potential of such a contraption falling into the wrong hands was not something he liked thinking about.
Kibosh leaned forward slightly, glaring at Casper through narrowed eyes. “Make sure it stays that way.”
Casper gulped, then nodded. “Yes, sir.”
Kibosh’s gaze turned to Dr. Harvey. “Do you realize just what that machine was that brought you back, James Harvey?”
A bead of sweat slowly crept down Dr. Harvey’s brow. “I…I don’t…”
“An abomination.” Kibosh growled. “A blight upon this world. The fact that you have been brought back to life by this machine is a disruption of the Balance and a violation of the laws of Death.” He tilted his head to the side, like a curious child staring at a big in a jar. “By all rights, I should rip your soul from your body and drag you kicking and screaming into the darkness pit, never to be seen or heard of again.”
The fact he said this so calmly, so casually…Dr. Harvey felt his heart stutter in his chest.
There was a whooshing sound, and the Ghostly Trio were immediately in front of Casper and the Harveys. “Now wait just a damn minute!” Stretch shouted, his face a mask of outrage.
“This isn’t Doc’s fault!” Stinkie cried.
“Yeah!” Fatso agreed. “We were the ones who-“
Kibosh didn’t even look at them. He grabbed all three ghosts in his fist and, with a flick of his wrist, sent the Trio flying to the side. They all heard Stretch scream, “MOTHERFU-!!!” Before they went through the wall. Several thuds and loud crashes could be heard in the distance.
“Fortunately for you,” Kibosh continued speaking as if he hadn’t been interrupted. “Your death turned out to be ahead of your scheduled time. Your resurrection has set you back on schedule. Good for you.”
Casper dared to speak up. “So…does that mean he get to stay?”
“He gets to stay.” Kibosh said flatly.
Dr. Harvey let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. “Thank you, Kibosh. Sir. I don’t know how-“
“Do not thank me, James Harvey. I have done you no favor. You may not realize it yet, but your destiny has now been irrevocably changed. There is no going back for you.” Kibosh’s lips twitched into a smirk. “To be frank, you probably would have been better off simply staying dead.”
There was a rumble of thunder, and bolt of lightning struck out of nowhere. Casper and the Harveys had to cover their eyes to shield themselves from the blinding light. When they dared to look, they saw glowing green smoke dissipate and disappear into the floor.
Seconds later, the lights all popped back on with an audible hum.
————————————
Dr. Harvey didn’t sleep well that night. He couldn’t get the colossal green ghost’s words out of his mind.
It wouldn’t be until four years later until he and the others started to comprehend what Kibosh was talking about.

A continuation of this
——————————————-
The basement was pitch black. Even with the faint green light cast about the room, a normal person would find it difficult to see past their nose.
This, of course, was no issue for the two ghosts.
Kibosh stared at the ancient contraption in front of him with an unreadable expression.
“Those vials,” Casper hovered nervously behind the giant specter, pointing at the shelf next to the metal chamber. “They have - had- an elixir. That’s what-“
“I have eyes, child.” Kibosh addressed Casper without turning around. “Now be silent.”
As Kibosh examined the Lazarus, Casper wrung his hands and tried not to let his eyes wander.
He and Kat had found this place by accident one day, while exploring the manor. They found the notes about the Lazarus, about how it could apparently bring the dead back to life. It admittedly caught Casper’s interest. He had been tempted to try it himself.
Until he actually saw the machine.
He couldn’t explain it, but the moment he laid eyes on the contraption, he caught a deep sense of foreboding. This thing was…wrong. Evil.
He and Kat left the lab and exited the basement, and Casper swore he would never go back down there again.
But of course, that wasn’t how things played out.
Kibosh had finished his examination of the Lazarus, and slowly moved to the set of tables that held various tomes and lab equipment.
Casper was starting to get nervous. He didn’t know what Kibosh planned to do after he was done looking.
He didn’t regret bringing Dr. Harvey back to life. Kat was just a kid, only a couple of years older than him. She needed her father.
And poor Dr. Harvey…so lost and confused. He didn’t know where he was or who he was. He didn’t recognize his daughter at all. His uncles had to hold him up just to keep him from sinking into the floor.
To say nothing of how he looked. Kat was inconsolable upon seeing his broken form, she nearly passed out from sobbing so hard.
So no. He wasn’t sorry helping his friends. But as he looked at the open empty chamber of the machine, he couldn’t help but worry about the potential consequences.
Would they be punished for using it, for even having it in the first place? Would Kat and Dr. Harvey be taken away?
Would they all be sentenced to the Dark?
“The elixir. Is there more?”
Casper jolted as he realized Kibosh was speaking to him. “No, sir. The last vial was used on Dr. Harvey. And we haven’t found anything that looks similar”
“And the formula? The schematics for the machine?”
Casper shook his head. “We didn’t find anything like that, either.” He shrugged. “Honestly, I don’t think we’d recognize it if we did. This stuff is pretty…” His voice trailed off as he made a vague gesture towards the table.
Kibosh raised an eyebrow. “And yet that didn’t stop you from using the machine anyway.”
Casper suddenly found the floor very interesting. In hindsight, they were all very lucky that Dr. Harvey’s resurrection didn’t go horribly wrong.
Kibosh stared at the little ghost for a few moments, then closed his eyes and let out a deep long sigh. “Come.”
He turned and began to rise up through the ceiling. Casper followed, grateful to finally be leaving this place behind.
To be concluded in Part 3

This sort of a “prequel” to Sans’ Casper AU, “Casper’s Spectral Spectacle”
————————————
It was a regular day for the residents of Whipstaff, both living and dead, when the lights had gone out.
For the residents with a pulse, this was just a minor inconvenience, nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a simple change of fuses.
For the others…
“Aw, hell.”, Stretch cursed under his breath.
“What does he want?”, Stinkie grumbled.
Casper gulped nervously, and made his way to the foyer. If he was here, then that meant something was very wrong.
Down in the foyer, Kat and Dr. Harvey were carefully heading towards the basement, flashlights leading the way.
Or at least they were, until the floor started to shake.
Casper sped to the humans’ side, steadying them and leading them away from the center of the floor, causing them to drop their flashlights. The Trio descended from the ceiling, all looking very annoyed with what was about to happen.
The sound of thunder resounded throughout the room, and a bright glowing green smoke started to rise from the floor into the air. It swirled about in a vortex, before slowly taking the shape of a torso, then arms, then a head.
The ghost was massive, its head going all the way to the ceiling, and its tail going into the floor. Its body glowed, casting the dark foyer in eerie green light. It had a muscular build, its arms thick and wide as tree trunks. The face had a large pale scar going across its right eye. Slowly, the phantom opened its eyes, revealing bright red pools with rings of yellow, shining out from two black holes.
Kibosh had arrived.
“Casper, who is that?” Kat whispered to her friend fearfully. Whoever this was, he didn’t look very friendly.
“That’s Kibosh, the King of Ghosts. He rules the Netherworld.” Casper whispered back. He subtly moved in front of the two, perhaps hoping to shield them from their “guest”.
“Ghosts have a hierarchy? Fascinating.” Dr. Harvey murmured, awestruck and afraid.
Stretch scoffed, and floated closer to the green giant. “Well, well. Look who decided to grace us with his presence. To what do we owe the displeasure?”
“Where is it?” Kibosh’s voice rumbled, deep and low, echoing throughout the foyer and sending vibrations through the floor and into the chests of all present.
Stretch’s trademark shit-eating smirk slowly crept across his face. “It? Sorry, pal, but you’re way off the mark. Derry’s several miles that wa-“
A hand the size of a truck wrapped around Stretch’s torso and roughly squeezed, knocking the wind out of the tall ghost. His eyes popped out of his head comically as he was pulled upwards to meet Kibosh’s eye.
Casper’s eyes widened in alarm. It was disconcerting to see how small his uncle looked in Kibosh’s grip.
“Do not test me, McFadden.” Kibosh’s lips pulled back into a snarl, revealing two rows of white, large sharp teeth. “I am in no mood for your games.”
Stretch sputtered and coughed, before crooning, “Awwww, but I’m so good at ‘um! And there’s so many ta choose from. Monopoly, chess, Chutes n La-“
“The anomaly.” Kibosh hissed, his eyes narrowing in annoyance. “The one that made itself known in this house two weeks ago!”
“Yeah, yer gonna have ta be a little more specific there, Jolly Green Giant.” Stinkie called out, his arms folded in defiance. “Cuz last I checked, there were four ‘anomalies’ residin’ in this house.”
“Six if you count them.” Fatso added, nodding towards the Harveys still standing behind Casper.
Kat frowned in annoyance, but Casper and Dr. Harvey shared a tense look. Two weeks ago? That could only mean…
“You’re talking about the Lazarus, aren’t you?” Dr. Harvey spoke up. All eyes went to him as an eery silence fell over the room. “The…the machine we used-“
“To bring you back to the mortal plane after your sudden, unexpected demise, and restore your body.” Kibosh casually opened his hand, releasing his hold on Stretch. Instead of floating away harmlessly, Stretch dropped like a stone, hitting the floor below with a loud thud and a muffled ow. Kibosh placed his hands behind his back and leaned forward slightly, boring his gaze into the doctor. “Yes, Dr. James Harvey. That is exactly what I am talking about.”
Dr. Harvey fought to swallow the giant lump in his throat. This ghost only knew his name, but also that he had died and came back to life.
Kibosh’s gaze shifted to Casper. “Where. Is it? I won’t ask again.”
“It’s in the basement.” Casper answered quickly. “It hasn’t been touched since-“
“Show me.”
And before anyone could say anything, Casper floated downwards and disappeared into the floor. Kibosh followed the little ghost, and with his departure the foyer was cast in darkness once more.
Kat walkover to where the flashlights had landed when they dropped them. They were still turned on. She picked them up and handed one to her dad. “Why does that guy wanna know about the Lazarus so bad?”
“Who knows why Kibosh does anything? Cryptic jerk.” Stinkie muttered.
“Maybe he’s wants something to match his drapes.” Fatso quipped with a shrug.
“I told you this would happen.”
Everyone turned to Stretch, who was picking himself up off the floor. He was uncharacteristically serious as he turned to glare at Kat. “I warned you that usin’ that damn machine would come back ta bite us in the ass. But didja listen?!”
Kat’s face was a mask of cold fury as she marched up to Stretch, ignoring her father’s attempt to stop her. She got in the tall ghost’s face as she hissed out through clenched teeth. “We wouldn’t have had to use it, if you three hadn’t gotten my father killed!”
“Fer th’ millionth time!” Stretch shouted, his body slowly growing larger and his voice deeper with each word, “It! Was! An! ACCIDENT !”
“ENOUGH!” Dr. Harvey shouted, getting between the two with his hands held up. “What’s done is done. Fighting amongst ourselves won’t help the situation we’re in now.”
Stretch scowled, but said nothing. He folded his arms and turned his head to the side. His brothers side eyed each other from either side of him.
Kat allowed her father to pull her into an embrace. As he rubbed her back soothingly, she stared at the floor, wondering how her friend was fairing.
Stay tuned for Part 2

A follow up to this:
Tumblr media
“Spooky? Where are ya? Please come out.”
Pearl searched the room for her wayward boyfriend. She didn’t really understand exactly what he was shouting about earlier, but even she could see how distraught Spooky was. She had to make sure he was okay.
She came upon a trunk with a familiar looking hat sitting on top.
“Go ‘way.”
Pearl gingerly picked up the derby. “Spooky’s hat? Have ya seen where Spooky went?”
“I ain’t in th’ mood, Poil. Jest leave me ‘lone.”
Pearl placed the hat down and sat down next to it on the trunk. She stared at her lap for a silent minute.
“…Ya know, I remembah this one time, I got lost in this cave. I’m kinduva ditz, ya see. Spooky had to come find me. This was before we was datin’ fa real.”
Silence from the trunk.
“But the thing is, it was really dark in the cave an’, I’m real scared of th’ dark. Othah ghosts used ya tease me ‘bout it, cuz ya know, ghosts ain’t supposed ta be scareda th’ dark.
“But Spooky di’nt tease me at all. He just held my hand, tellin’ me stories and jokes, and I was jest smilin’ and laughin’. An’ before I knew it, we was outta th’ cave.”
Pearl twirled a strand of her hair nervously. “Spooky can be a real joikface sometimes. He really likes ta put on th’ big tuff guy act. But he’s a real sweet guy deep down. An’ that day, he was there f’r me when I needed him most.” She placed a hand on top of the derby. “An’ now, I’d like ta do th’ same f’r him. Lead him outta th’ cave, if he’d let me. Cuz that’s whatcha do f’r people ya love.”
She turned to look at the derby. “When ya see ‘im, do ya think ya can tell him that, Mr. Spooky Hat?”
Tumblr media
Slowly, the hat rose into the air, the owner gradually turning visible underneath it.
Spooky’s normally brilliant gray eyes were tinged with red, and he had dried streaks running down his freckled cheeks.
Pearl wrapped her arms around her beau and kissed him gently on the cheek.
“…Thanks, Poil.”

Based on mpsansy’s Casper AU. Go check out their work!
Basically Spooky finds out about Dr Harvey and Kat living at Whipstaff and isn’t happy. Obviously this dime store fake medium is taking Casper and his uncles for a ride, and he fully intends to stop his “whimpy” cousin from a making a big mistake.
But, like with most things revolving around Casper and his family, things are more complicated than they seem, and soon painful memories long forgotten begin clawing themselves to the surface. For Casper and Spooky.

Tell me, Gabriel,
If I were to make you choose
Between the life of you wife Emelie or your own,
Why do I think she’d lose?
Enlighten me, oh Hawkmoth,
Since your spite was far too great
I wonder who’d take the weight of your sins
And suffer a deadly fate?

One Dialogue, Two Conversations
What Stolas is saying: "You don't believe me when I say I love you. I fucked up so badly that you won't take anything I say seriously. There's no point in fixing this because it's broken beyond repair."
What Blitz hears: "I got what I wanted from you, and now I'm bored with you. You won't play my game, so there's no need to keep you around."
What Blitz is saying: "You can't just dump that on me and then walk away. Explain it to me! Talk to me like a fucking person! You say you care about me but you won't even listen to me!"
What Stolas hears: "I don't just not love you. I resent you. I think you're the biggest piece of shit in existence, and the only reason I put up with you is so you won't screw me over more than you already have."
