Me when a LMJ video essay brings up great points about the game’s tenuous pacing and padding, bloated cast and eye rolling case conclusions and little to no character arcs, but fundamentally misunderstands Ernest’s character and refers to him as a one note simp that Katrielle takes advantage of

I swear to god nobody pays attention to the fact that Katrielle AND Ernest both state that Kat never wanted an assistant but Ernest insisted on helping anyway. She’s not methodically exploiting his crush on her, she’s just taking what she can get because she knows he won’t leave her alone😭. His clingy nature is never DIRECTLY explained in text but I don’t understand how people don’t realize that the orphan Mama’s boy would be so infatuated with the first woman to be kind to him when he underwent the stress of being accused of a crime he couldn’t commit. I think complaining that he’s a simp is a valid criticism in terms of PERSONAL taste but to say he’s badly written because he’s clingy is oversimplifying what LITTLE characterization we get from that game.

While investigating a cartoon I watched when I was barely a toddler, I managed to catch the eye of a lot of people online who also vaguely remember the show S.P.E.C.T.O.R, an episodic series airing on TeenToonz network. The network, from what I can gather, seemed to have only lasted around two years and aired three animated series in that time frame.

This recorded incident was generously sent to me by a fellow S.P.E.C.T.O.R lost media hunter who wishes to remain anonymous. Thank you so much! The recording has been trimmed for time, but the original footage lasted 10 minutes and 45 seconds, the usual time slot for the fully aired episodes at the time. There has been much debate on whether or not this was a hijacking, an intentional airing from the network, or an all around hoax. I personally can't be sure. The more we look into the series, the more we seem to uncover or remember odd examples of the show being less than comprehensible.

It is that time. Once in a blue moon I share my infinite knowledge (concepts I’ve had since I was a teenager) to the LMJ fandom that I previously thought was nonexistent

First order of business: Felicity Hastings looks quite a bit like Ernest’s mother

I’m not saying anything crazy like “Felicity is actually Ernest’s estranged aunt!”, they just have a very similar design. Same eye color, hair color, similar hairstyles and hooded eyelids. Felicity almost looks like if Ernest’s mother had the chance to recover and flourish.

Having said that, I think it would have been interesting to see how Ernest would interact with her one on one. I already see Hastings as a sort of father figure to Ernest, and the idea of this evidently childless couple unofficially adopting this college kid makes my heart sing. I’ve wanted to write a fic about this for years but never got around to it. As per usual 😅

Bonus: Did you know that if you invert Ernest’s color palette, his hair becomes lilac like his mother’s?

I always found that neat. I may use that method to figure out a color palette for my own oc parents at some point. It’s also befitting that Ernest’s hair is green while his mother’s is lilac. Ernest loves studying flowers for a reason. His mother was the loveliest flower of them all.

Anyone remember this show?

I think it was called Showtimes? I swear it aired on Nickelodeon in like 2007. Now that I think about it, it could have been on Adult Swim? There were some scary scenes unfit for kids, though I don't remember what exactly scared me about it. I was 4 when I first watched it, so I could have been vastly overreacting lolol

These are the only screenshots I can seem to salvage. If anyone else remembers this show, do you also get weird headaches? Every time I try to think back on the specifics it's like I get this hole in my vision, like when you look at an eclipse.
