Episode 10 - Twins

you're so pregnant, aching womb packed to the brim with wriggling, heavy life. the stretched muscles containing the set of burgeoning babes twinge and cramp as they strain to support your gravidly swollen belly. the skin is so tight and thin, every kick and roll within is overwhelming, you're so sensitive. just a few more weeks to go and your twins will be here safely... little do you know how overdue you'll end up going.

when 36 weeks rolls around, you still haven't dropped- your round middle sits heavily on your pelvis, bluish veins visible through your paperlike skin. you gasp and grit your teeth whenever strong feet and elbows scrape against the walls of your overfilled uterus. against the advice of your midwife and partner, you still continue to run errands and keep the house in shape, although you have to take your time with your slow, waddling gait, needing to stop and rest every few minutes.

miraculously, you hit 40 weeks, which is rare with twins, but you believe in staying all-natural. in the last 4 weeks your babies have grown more than you thought they would, each of them easily at least ten pounds. you're essentially pinned to the bed now, your massively swollen womb keeping you down. it's too heavy to stand with, it pulls from your middle and hangs from you achingly. every shift within is like fire, your belly is so tight and sensitive. you whimper for your partner to be careful as they rub it to relieve the irregular cramps that tremor through it.

40 weeks comes and goes, and as the days turn into weeks, you grow more and more wary about when exactly your babies are going make their appearance...
