TOUR DATES! ONTARIO!

I’m pleased as can be to announce the Ontario leg of my smaller towns tour!  Thank you to everyone who reached out to coordinate shows in such varied and interesting spaces.  Most of these towns, I’ve never played before.  For all of these shows I’ll be joined by Rich Burnett on Lap Steel, and for some, Ben Grossman will join us on Hurdy Gurdy and percussion.  Also, I’m very happy to be sharing the bills in various cities with Eiyn Sof, Fiver, Bird City, Long Branch, EONS, Evening Hymns, Charlotte Cornfield and Crow.  We’ll be trying out a bunch of new songs.  Please share widely if you’re willing!

I'm very happy to be playing a show in my hometown of London, Ontario, at the wonderful venue, The TAPROOT, above the wonderful organic restaurant THE ROOT CELLAR, 623 DUNDAS ST.

Opening the show will be the extremely wonderful writer and musician, Misha Bower, featuring my old buddy Will Kidman on guitar.

I'll be joined by Rich Burnett on lap steel and guitar.

Hey Buddies,

My old buddy Will Kidman has been coming down to Guelph lately to hang out and make music.  It’s been real nice.  Today we recorded this sweet little version of the Tom T. Hall classic, That’s How I Got To Memphis.  It’s a beaut of a song, and we had a good afternoon putting this to “tape”.  We offer it to you as a little gift to help you through November.

Hello!

I'm happy to let you all know that I'll be playing this year's Riverfest in beautiful Elora, Ontario!

I'll be joined by Anna Ruddick on the upright bass, Nathan Lawr on the downright drums, and Rich Burnett on the "damn right!" lap steel and electric guitar solos.

I'm just going to say, the Providers were on fire throughout our west and north festival tour. Just so good. Feels like I'm playing with Moby Grape or The Burrito Brothers or something. Ringers, every one of them.

I'm happy the summer isn't over just yet. We still have some chooglin' to do.

PROVIDERS SUMMER TOUR 2016!?!

That’s right!  I’ll be out and about again this July, playing some new (INUVIK!!) and some familiar places.  Most of these dates will feature The Providers as quartet: Anna Ruddick on bass,  Rich Burnett on Lap Steel and Guitar, Nathan Lawr on drums, and yours truly in full spandex, a la Max Webster, doing high kicks while marching across the stage and avoiding eye contact with you, the audience.  Aaron Goldstein will join us, awesomely, for the final show at The Calgary Folk Festival.

The band, as always, is on fire!  The quartet format adds a kind of CCR vibe to the songs that is glorious.  Chooglin’?  You bet.

We’ll be playing some new songs and new covers I’m very excited about.

BACK TO SCHOOL!

Folks, did you have a ‪#‎tufftime‬ in high school?

Me too.

As a public service for those who think back to high school as an emotional Scrambler ride, the good folks at ‪#‎kazooguelph‬ have put together a support group gathering of sorts, this Saturday, June 4th at 2pm, under the pavilion outside at GCVI high school.

The Providers (Nathan Lawr and Rich Burnett) and I will be playing with one of my fave bands - BERNICE, of Toronto. Our aim is to counteract all of that residual anxiety you've been holding on to from way back with our respective sweet, sweet ‪#‎jamz‬.

We will also be celebrating the TENTH ANNIVERSARY of Kazoo!, the good folks who work it year-round to bring glorious live performances to this city. TEN YEARS! That's a bona fide miracle in music promoting terms!

This is a pay-what-you-can event.

The sensational Guelph Dance Festival is happening all weekend as well, so come down early and check out the tremendous performances happening in Exhibition Park before heading over to GCVI.

CBC Friday Morning

Hi folks.

Tomorrow (January 30) I'll be playing music on the CBC radio program, Q. Shad is hosting, and he's wonderful. Maybe we'll just talk about how we both grew up in London, Ontario, the "Insurance Capital of Canada"!

We'll be playing three songs. So far, I'm thinking, "Yakety Sax," "We Don't Need Another Hero" and something from Angel Corpse's "Antichrist Vanguard" album, but I'm open to requests.

Hey Buddies. Donkeys are beautiful creatures. As proof, my friends Colin Medley and Maya Bankovic made a music video for my song, Prove Me Wrong, which features some of the most wonderful moving images of donkeys that you will ever see. It was filmed at one of my favourite places in the Guelph area, The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada. Big thanks to Maya for her brilliant cinematography, Colin for his vision, and everyone at the DSC for helping this happen. I hope you like it. It's premiering at The Onion's AV Club site!
