Paranoia Agent Episode 1

Paranoia Agent is a 2004 Japanese anime television series created by director Satoshi Kon and produced by Madhouse about a social phenomenon in Musashino, Tokyo caused by a juvenile serial assailant named Shonen Bat (Lil' Slugger in the English dub). The series first aired on Japan's WOWOW between February 2, 2004 and May 18, 2004. The English dub ran on Adult Swim in the United States between May 29, 2005 and August 21, 2005.

A UMD version of Volume 1 was made available on October 10, 2005. The English dubbed version began airing in the U.S. On Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on May 28, 2005 followed by an encore airing. He accuses Shougo aggressively, but someone takes a picture of their confrontation and texts it to the whole class. Shougo defends him, much to Icchi's embarrassment. Meanwhile, the detectives continue to question Tsukiko, who is now witness to two attacks. They also question Yuuichi. Icchi's birthday comes, but nobody comes to his party except his mother and tutor. Shougo attempts to comfort Yuuichi who just gets angrier, hoping Shougo will be the next victim; almost immediately, Shougo is attacked for real. She accepts, but is terrified of Maria's existence being found out. She attempts to throw Maria's 'work' clothes away, but her personality shifts to that of Maria just as she arrives at the dump and takes them all back. Her psychiatrist insists she must tell her fiancé. Harumi is also Yuuichi's tutor, and while visiting him in the hospital, he remarks that she needs a doctor more than him. His favorite prostitute is Maria/Harumi, the protagonist from the previous episode. Masami even purchases a house for his family using this money. However, Masami squeezes the group a bit too much, and they send their boss--oyabun--Makabe to deal with him. Makabe informs Hirukawa that since the leader of the local group is his friend then he will have no objection paying an extraordinary amount as all of his friends are. He reminds Hirukawa that 'his friend' gave him money to build his house and, if Hirukawa is not his 'friend' then his house just may have to burn down. Makabe punctuates this point by extinguishing his cigarette on Hirukawa's forehead. In desperation, Masami dons dark clothes and a ski mask and begins robbing helpless local families. Makabe gives him stimulants for his courage. Hirukawa attacks a family whose daughter walks in. As he walks alone on a deserted road afterwards, he cries out for help, begging someone to 'stop him.' Suddenly, he is attacked by Lil' Slugger; however, unlike the other victims, he is not incapacitated, and instead chases after his attacker. Masami then arrests Lil' Slugger, who awaits questioning by Ikari and Maniwa.5'The Holy Warrior' Transcription: 'Seisenshi' (Japanese: 聖戦士)Mamoru Sasaki, Nanako ShimazakiNanako ShimazakiMamoru SasakiKaoru InodaMarch 8, 2004June 26, 2005Ikari and Maniwa interrogate the boy known as Lil' Slugger, who turns out to be an eighth-grade student named Makoto Kozuka. Kozuka admits to the attacks, but he believes that the world around him is a medieval fantasy-style role playing game. Kozuka believes that in attacking people, he is liberating them from a villain named Gohma who has possessed them. Kozuka retells the chronology of attacks from his game-based perspective, and Ikari and Maniwa follow along in a narrative device quite reminiscent of the director's Millennium Actress: Maniwa, taking an emic point of view, especially gets caught up in Kozuka's role playing. Various characters appear in different guises: Kawazu as a stepped-on frog, Kozuka as a warrior, and Maria as an evil butterfly woman. Maniwa cleverly pretends to be a minstrel who must record all the heroic details. The detectives see that the details of his story correspond to all of the attacks — with the notable exception of the case of Tsukiko Sagi. The detectives question Tsukiko and confront her with evidence of the truth: a bent pipe found near the scene which she used on herself. At these words, Tsukiko faints. Meanwhile, Taeko, a runaway teenager, wanders through the stormy city wanting to forget about her past, as her father repeatedly calls her cellphone but she always answers coldly, saying she will 'destroy everything,' implying family drama. Her father, who she adored, is policeman Masami Hirukawa. Her family had just moved into the house he built for them when she discovered a file in the computer's recycle bin. It turns out to be security camera photos of her undressing. Horrified, she smashes furniture and finds a camera hidden behind a bookshelf. As she reaches the brink of despair in the storm, wishing to 'become empty,' Lil' Slugger knocks her out. She wakes up in the hospital with her father at her side, who explains that their house was destroyed by the storm, telling her that her desire to destroy everything had came true. She giggles and asks him, 'Who are you?'7'MHz'Hiroshi HamasakiHiroshi HamasakiAkiko AsakiRyō KōnoMarch 22, 2004July 10, 2005After Taeko is attacked while both Tsukiko and Kozuka have alibis, Maniwa considers the possibility of another Lil' Slugger existing and looks for connections between the victims in an attempt to pinpoint who will be next. Kozuka continues to protest that he is a holy warrior, Ikari angrily telling him the first attack was a sham and that he 'jumped on a bandwagon'. Kozuka admits he only attacked Ushiyama and Hirukawa. Maniwa gets more deeply involved as he finds nearly all the victims felt cornered and pressured by their lives, and each one seemed relieved after being attacked. Maniwa thinks it odd that Ushiyama was the only victim without any worries. Ikari advises Maniwa to take some time off. The three members of an Internet suicide pact meet each other for the first time in attempt to come up with ways to commit suicide, but hope to see Lil' Slugger. The trio includes 'Fuyubachi', an old man; 'Zebra', a young man; and a little girl, 'Kamome'. The two men are shocked at her young age and try to run away from her. She finds them in a house trying to gas themselves with carbon monoxide, but the house is suddenly demolished. They then try to jump in front of a subway train, but someone else throws themself in front of the train first, ruining their chance. Afterward, Zebra sees the spirit of the man who jumped in front of the train, walk away from the accident into the crowd of people on the platform. Finally, the trio try hanging themselves from a tree on a mountainside, but the branch snaps. The men fall down a slope and get separated from Kamome, revealing Zebra's locket contains pictures of him with another man. The two almost leave to continue alone, but then decide to go back to Kamome because they fear she will die in the forest if she's alone. At a bathhouse, it is revealed that Kozuka had been a member of their suicide message board, then the three try to sleep, until they see the silhouette of Lil' Slugger. Delighted, Kamome and Zebra run at him with open arms, with Fuyubachi trailing behind, but a horrified Lil' Slugger flees the building. At the end of the episode, Fuyubachi notices that the three of them do not cast shadows when a man walks between them without noticing them. None of them had noticeable shadows throughout the episode, except for the two men in the first few scenes. While singing and skipping hand in hand in the last scene, the three stop behind a group of girls getting their picture taken by another girl with a digital camera. When the girls check to see how their picture turned out, they are shocked and frightened by what they see in the photo, which is not shown to the audience. The scene then zooms in on a condom machine behind the three which reads 'Happy Family Planning,' the title of the episode.

The UK release of this episode has a 1 minute 20 second mandatory cut made by the BBFC. The removed scene shows the three protagonists (including a young girl) attempting to hang themselves. The first tells the story of a teenage boy desperately trying to study for his math exam. During the exam, he sneezes out a math equation; he runs to the toilet, where streams of equations begin coming out of him with each sneeze. A persistent knocking on the stall door starts, which he ignores until he looks up to see Lil' Slugger peering down at him. A teacher enters to find a sea of equations on the floor. The second story is of a young wife stuck at home with her horrible mother-in-law. Though it is the wife's birthday, her husband is away, and the gift her mother-in-law gives her turns out to be a cooking kit, with which her mother-in-law orders her to do something about her lackluster cooking. Enraged, the wife flies at her and the mother-in-law shields herself with the pot, when there's a knock on the door. Both rush to it, thinking it to be the husband, but on the other side of the door is Lil' Slugger, who knocks out the mother-in-law. The third story tells of a doctor whose nurses mess up an in-vitro fertilization so that the baby is unrelated to either parent. The woman comes back pregnant and in agony, where an ultrasound shows the developing fetus is a miniature Lil' Slugger. This story causes the other housewives to mock Kamohara, the storyteller who is also the youngest and newest to the area. The stories grow ever more implausible, and at the end Kamohara returns home to her husband, a script editor, to find him on the floor bleeding from a head wound. He asks her to call a doctor, saying it was Lil' Slugger. Kamohara reacts with delight at this news, and demands more details about Lil' Slugger and the attack while making no visible attempt to call for an ambulance. Her husband collapses, lifeless. Throughout the episode, he nods off, and when he awakens he frequently sees Lil' Slugger pursuing him, only to disappear. His dreams recount the production of the series, and the gradual murder of the entire production crew. Eventually, Lil' Slugger appears in the car, and Saruta's beaten corpse is found in front of the TV network's building. As the network grabs the tape from his hand and rushes it in to air, Maromi is heard saying 'take a rest' over and over again.11'No Entry' Transcription: 'Shinnyū kinshi' (Japanese: 進入禁止)Mamoru Sasaki, Nanako ShimazakiNanako ShimazakiMamoru SasakiNobutaka IkeApril 26, 2004August 7, 2005Misae Ikari, wife of Ikari the detective, confronts Lil' Slugger when he comes for her about what humans really are and tells him about the problems he's caused. She had to turn down a life-saving medical treatment that her husband, now a security guard, can't afford. She tells Lil' Slugger how her life changed when she met Ikari, how supportive he was even though she couldn't have children. Over time, she grew fearful that his devotion to his work was an excuse to avoid her. Lil' Slugger grows to a huge form when she talks about her despair, but shrinks back down again every time she dismisses these thoughts as unreasonable. He grows larger again when she tells him how much he has ruined their lives, and he cackles as he prepares to strike her. She is afraid at first, but then breaks into laughter just as Lil' Slugger is about to swing his bat. Frustrated, he hits her, but Misae carries on, calmly saying 'we have made a new beginning'. She informs him that humans are not as weak as he thinks they are - they are strong enough to face reality and don't need a fantasy world for escape. Upon hearing this, Lil' Slugger screams and promptly vanishes along with everything around him. Meanwhile, former police detective Ikari is just finishing one shift as a construction worker and goes immediately to his security job at another site without returning home. While at his post, he strikes up a conversation with one of his coworkers, and is shocked to learn that the man is actually the first person he arrested as a cop. The man is now old, but still serving as an honest member of society. During the extensive conversation that ensues, Ikari reveals how he always wanted to be an old-fashioned cop catching simple burglars, not psychological criminals. He is then transported to a fantasy world like the one he wished for. Maniwa turns up looking for Ikari, and his wife is in despair: 'he won't come home.'12'Radar Man' Transcription: 'Rēdā Man' (Japanese: レーダーマン)Atsushi TakahashiAtsushi TakahashiMichio MiharaNobutaka IkeMay 10, 2004August 14, 2005Maniwa engages in battle with Lil' Slugger and investigates his past. First he visits the mysterious old man (often seen writing equations and talking to himself in past episodes) at the hospital just before he dies; his last words to Maniwa are 'dance with the rabbit'. Misae tells Maniwa that Maromi and Lil' Slugger are the same being. Tsukiko is being interviewed about Maromi's conception, and among her early sketches is one of Lil' Slugger. Maniwa sees a miniature bunny girl, and remembering the old man's words, he follows to a dollmaker's shop, to find the dollmaker there making dolls of all Lil' Slugger's victims. All the dolls speak to Maniwa, telling him they want to defeat Lil' Slugger too. They plug him into an AR link to the net where he accesses Tsukiko's past. They find a case from 10 years earlier where she was attacked at twelve years old by a figure on rollerblades carrying a golden bat. Maniwa visits Tsukiko's father and finds a golden bat in the family's shed. After discovering the truth, he phones Tsukiko, telling her that her father said not to be afraid. Maromi cuts the phone cable. Maniwa appears and fights a giant Lil' Slugger with the original bat. After the fight ends in a draw, Tsukiko and Maromi disappear into the cartoon world, and all traces of Maromi vanish from the human world.13'The Final Episode' Transcription: 'Saishūkai.' Maniwa contacts the police chief on a screen in the cartoon world telling him what he knows; Ikari smashes the screen, is hailed a hero, and changes into a police dress uniform. Tsukiko becomes her twelve-year-old self and calls Ikari 'dad'. Maromi becomes a real dog. Ikari muses how he always wanted a daughter, but then his wife appears and he remembers what he said to her in her despair: that people mustn't create fantasy worlds to escape from reality. He takes the original bat and smashes the cartoon world apart to reveal a ruined Tokyo and a sea of Maromi toys. Maniwa tells Ikari how Lil' Slugger was made up by Tsukiko to explain away the death of her pet dog Maromi. Though she told her parents a young boy on rollerblades killed her dog with a bat, Maromi really died after being hit by a car when a painful menstrual cramp caused Tsukiko to let go of her leash. Fearing her father would punish her, she made up the story. The black blob appears as a giant and Maromi, Tsukiko and Ikari flee into the subway, but are eventually submerged. As she sinks, Tsukiko has a flashback to the original event. She comforts her young self and accepts it was her fault, stopping the black blob. Two years later, Tokyo has finally recovered from the damage. Tsukiko, now an office worker, impassively views a commercial for a popular new mascot character. Ikari is still a security guard, while Kawazu is still a reporter. Maniwa, whose hair has turned completely white, is now doing the same complex equation in chalk on the street that the old man once did. In the final scene, he pauses writing and gasps. The last two characters he writes are 'a' and 'ni,' and the position of his hand suggests that the character he is about to write is 'me,' exactly mirroring the first episode.

Paranoia Agent is a Japanese psychological thriller anime series created by director Satoshi Kon and produced by Madhouse. Music for the series was composed by Susumu Hirasawa.3 The series premiered in Japan on WOWOW from February 2, 2004 to May 18, 2004. Paranoia Agent was previously licensed in North America by Geneon Entertainment who produced an English dub. In February of 2020, Funimation.

Paranoia Agent, despite being extremely short, is a very intriguing series to watch. Michael jackson thriller mediafire. Its disturbing imagery plays upon our innermost fears and the characters we’re introduced to show the various forms fear can take. For those who have never seen Paranoia Agent before, it’s set in cotemporary Japan, beginning with a young woman named Tsukiko Sagi, who is being pressured by her company to create a new character that is just as popular as Maromi, a cartoon dog with pink fur and extremely large eyes. But one evening as she’s walking home, a mysterious boy wearing rollar blades assaults her with a gold baseball bat. While the police are doubtful of her story, they send two detectives Keiichi Ikari and Mitsuhiro Maniwa out to catch this kid, dubbed Lil’ Slugger, who is assaulting other people as well. Unfortunately, the only clue these detectives have to go on is that Lil’ Slugger usually assaults someone who is on the verge of a mental breakdown.=tle>=tle>

The cause of these breakdowns is unique for every victim Lil’ Slugger attacks (see Fig. 1), but they typically come from some deep-seated psychological problem that is brought to its full-height by fear. For this reason, they are unable to deal with their present circumstances. This inability then causes them to look for something that will alleviate their problems, whether it be something as masochistic as Lil’ Slugger, or deceptively comforting as Maromi. But what it all boils down to is repression, and its consequences.

For example, there is one kid named Taira Yuuichi who is extremely egotistical and conscious about how others view him. While he tries to hide these flaws through his role as class president, his popularity starts to rapidly decline when the students start comparing him to Lil’ Slugger because of his age and what he wears. He even goes to the point of suspecting another kid for spreading the rumors, though he has no actual proof. So by the time Lil’ Slugger knocks him out with the bat, Taira’s fear of losing his status as the popular kid has overwhelmed him completely. But what occurs after he’s hit is very interesting, because despite having a head injury, Taira is no longer stressed, and he doesn’t remember what caused it.

The same thing happens to the other victims, but as the series progresses, we discover that these so-called “cures” are only temporary. This in turn causes the fear to return, and Lil’ Slugger feeds off of these fears until he nearly consumes all of Japan. Now whether he is real or not is debatable, but what the show implies is that he’s a psychological demon created from Tsukiko’s denial when she accidentally killed a puppy, who happened to be named Maromi, when she was a little girl. So when she created the character Maromi many years later, the reppressed guilt began to surge, and then combined with the fear of losing her fame if she couldn’t meet her company’s demands, Lil’ Slugger came back, and she once again used him as an excuse to hide from her troubles. But because she was so famous, the image of Lil’ Slugger spread into the unconsciousness of the millions who heard the police report, who was then summoned by the mentally deranged who needed a form of escape, which included a sleazy reporter, a woman with split-personality disorder, a man whose ideals clash with a low-life reality, a boy who sees the world as a role-playing game, and a mediocre employee who murdered everyone on his production team.

All of these people are so far off the beaten path that fear is like a disease to them, and the only solution is through self-inflicted pain, which temporarly makes them forget it. But not everyone is completely clean, because as the influence of Lil’ Slugger increases, so does the popularity of Maromi. Born out of a disturbing event that Tsukiko tries to forget, Maromi also represents repression, but with a more comforting appeal. While Lil’ Slugger’s demeanor is dark and frightening, Maromi’s is innocent and cuddly (see Fig. 2). Its adorable face makes one forget one’s troubles in an instant, taking them to a happier place that lies outside of real life. However, the characters who experience this are completely out of touch from reality, leading to a false black-and-white interpretation that lingers as long as the complex fears remain reppressed. An example of this occurs when Keiichi, after being laid off the Lil’ Slugger case due to a suspect being murdered under his and Mitsuhiro’s pr0tection, falls into a vivid daydream where he’s back in the days of his prime as a cop while being accompanied by Maromi and a younger version of Tsukiko posing as his daughter, even though he never had one. Eventually, images of his wife start to appear, reminding him of the fear he has for her weak health and their shaky marriage. Through her, he learns of her recent death, which snaps him out of the false reality he’s created under Maromi’s influence.

So as you can see, despite Maromi and Lil’ Slugger’s differences in terms of promoting repression, they are similar in that they were made by the same person, and they both feed on the fears of people to sustain their existence. However, their attempts at reppressing people are thwarted by certain individuals, namely the detectives and eventually Tsukiko, because instead of giving into their fears, they accept them in some form. For Keiichi, it was the love for his wife that gave him the courage to realize the truth about Lil’ Slugger. Meanwhile, Mitsuhiro decided to take the path of the spiritual warrior, allowing him to confront Lil’ Slugger on a physical and psychological level. As for Tsukiko, it was accepting the guilt of her previous actions, and that was what ultimately destroyed her inner demons. Amiga cd32 kickstart rom.

The song is still given a warm feel from the bass and drums as it is constantly repeating the 1 bar keeping the listener familiar to the song although everything else within the song has a consistent change.

The sound well composed but can get quite dull after listening to if for a while as it is the opening song to the album but is a very long 6 minutes as it seems to be quite repetitive even though a multitude of different uses of instruments and styles are incorporated into the song. the lyrics in the song also are on about how people start fights over nothing such as a simple argument or spread gossib which is not actualy true and in some cases has been related to beat it in the way that beat it's lyrics talkabout gang fights and violence for pety things like appeal or 'fun'.

‘Baby be mine’ is the second track of the album thriller and features a slow almost dance disco feel to the song. It is very clear to hear the drums and bass guitar as they both repeat 1 bar with a slight change in the bass to feature as a small fill the bass features and the main rhythm towards the song while the guitar again features a staccato stammer riff. Other than the bass the keyboard features as a well played part in the chorus as it helps create a harmony within the song and when combined with the vocals forms a well formed disco dance feel towards the song. There have also been a number of loops put through the track to keep the son to its roots so it won’t deviate as much as compared to ‘Startin something’ you can also hear that the vocals have been boosted along with the bass and drums while all other instruments have been put pack a fraction to keep the leading instruments and preferably the vocals easily audible.

Unlike starting something the song stayed true to its roots and hardly had allot of instrumentation going on at once allowing it to give a soft warm feel towards the song. It was given an added punch the filtered bass which gave it its own character while the vocals sung high and sharp to cut through clearly. The song was well structured as it was given a good warm feel to the song similar to what you would find in a disco and had a great groove for those who would with to dance to it. Although it did seem like it was one of the weaker songs on the album when compared to the likes of Billy jean, Thriller and even Beat it.

The girl is mine is composed on a 4/4 rhythm and in the key of A Maj. The song is in a very slow tempo roughly at 70bpm and features a duet with sir Paul McCartney. The song unlike the first 2 tracks on the album is probably the first track to feature a melodic use of the guitar it start out playing in a similar style as the bass as they play like they are entwined into one another and then changes to a broken chord which is accompanied by a piccolo to add more clarity and sharpness while maintaining a smooth and happy harmony. The song has a happy warm melodic feel within the song yet the lyrics are about 2 people fighting for a girl that they love. The song starts out calm yet half way through the song there as a strong build up which adds strength to the song and as it increases Michael add character my sort of competing with the increasing crescendo of lyrics and then is interrupted by Paul McCartney who smoothly brings the song back to its original pace. The song also features a good use of dynamics and call and response with both Michael and Paul as if they are almost arguing against each other the song also has Michael or Paul call and responding with a group of backing singer within the song.

Some Technical features that are put within the song are the some samples such as the twinkling sound near the intro of the song just before the lyrics start. Other technical techniques that are featured would be a slight add of reverb on the guitar and then its quick fade out. Another would be its use of the crescendo when it has a number of over dubbing and its quick dynamic increase then suddenly its smoothed back into the original structure of the song

My thoughts on the song are that it is a smooth easy listening song that goes well in the album as it takes it down a notch from the rapid paced drums, the upbeat bass and fast melodic singing and replaces it with a slow easy listening calm enjoyable yet almost upsetting song. The reason for this is all of the song is based as a major key and even has allot of bright notes within the song but is made has given a slight emotional twist as the lyrics are about 2 people arguing over a girl they both wish to have. The self titled song thriller based on the key of C#m and in the time signature of 4/4 features a multitude of different samples such as footsteps, wolf howl, wind, scream’s and clapping along with other instrumentation such as drums, bass, synth, guitar, and even brass such as trumpets and trombones. The song also featured a narration in the end where it describes multiple horrors and thrillers then ends with a laugh.

The song was advertised almost like a mini video and so doing became more widely known for the video which featured the song. The video featured a sort of intro which included a werewolf and then after kicks into the song. As Michael is outside with his date he starts singing the song towards his date and as they pass the graveyard a Narrator talks a type of enchantment that brings ghouls and zombies to life and slowly gang up on the couple. Michael is later seen as a ghoul himself and a group dance is then performed which brings the song back into life.

The start of the song is given a crescendo in the synth accompanied with the drums 40 seconds into the song it is then jumps into one of the main melodies inside the song just before bass comes into the song. I feel this is done to add character to the song and give it a synthesiser feel for the audience to listen to. Once the bass comes in with a 1 bar repetitive riff which the drums start to follow and gives the song a more upbeat and body moving character it then stays like that to give the listener the feel of the song and on the 9 bar is accompanied with the lyrics which are given a sort of dark and creepy style of words for example the opening line is ‘its close to midnight and something evil is lurking in the dark’ giving a sort you a sore of horror movie but through words and song. Guitar then joins the song with a clean sound and is playing a short repetitive funk like staccato rhythm forming as a harmony.

Out of all the songs on the thriller album it is probably its self titled song with features the most technological improvements within the mix and it had had to have numerous amounts of samples tracked into it, a variety of instruments including horns, keyboard, bass, a drum machine, guitar a Theremin and not to mention vocals which have been overdubbed and even had Vincent Price do a narration into the song to add a more fearful insight to the song. The drum machine was used to keep a steady ongoing beat and then looped to keep a constant beat. While later in the mix down they will have then equalised each and every sample/instrument/vocal part to their own desire and then paned and mastered the volume to make it easier to depict the leading roles for each sample and instrument.

My thought on thriller is that it has had allot of work put into it and that the work put into it has been used very effectively each sample sounds like it should be their and each instrument sounds like its playing its own main role to contribute towards the song. It even features uses of crescendos and diminuendos for other part to come in and overlap the rest of the song such as Vincent price’s narration where the whole songs dynamics have been turned down to be able to hear him clearly the slowly the song fades back into the original style and Michaels powerful vocals come back in like there was no change in the song at all. Over all I feel the work done to this song is a master piece and had a lot of work done to get it that way.

The song beat it is the 5th track on the album thriller it is based in the E minor Scale and has a time signature of 4/4 the song has taken a more pop/rock approach to its style and has been given ‘Eddie van Halen’ to help create the song for the album. The song features a 2 bar repetitive drum rhythm while the bass has a repetitive rhythm which varies in chords for the verse while the chorus is a catchy riff based groove which is used as the main force for the song the song has a fair use of dynamics such as its use of forte in the chorus and then its change to around mezzo-piano in the verse the vocals have been given a overdub to make to vocals stand out more and make the sound more thick when comparing it to the rest of the song. The vocals when combined with the guitar and bass create a well place harmony which work well without and contradictions and the repetitive yet driving drum beat is used to keep the song powerful and sturdy. Because the song has been a rock structure to the song it has even been given a guitar solo which in itself is very driving and fast and even contains techniques such as sweeping, tapping, raking and the use of a whammy bar which are all styles often used in heavy metal bands. The song has been well composed as even though it has its forcefulness it has also been given a very catchy riff a good use of harmonies and dynamics but what have been exposed the most in the song is Michaels wide range while combined powerfulness of his voice which you can hear him belt in the chorus.

The song starts off with a moderately fast up-beat drum rhythm at around 110-120bpm for 2 bars and then immediately kicks in with its famous bass line. The song is widely popular because of its upbeat yet relaxed style of arranging then its progression onto the chorus which although is still relaxed is given a more colourful and warm feel because of its contrast with change to the high and sharp lyric. I also enjoy how Michael has used the deep and flat tones of the bass to his advantage and not only giving them a almost swung like groovy melody but contrasted it but using the higher range of his vocals in the choruses and then coming back down again when the verses come back in.

The song starts immediately with a calming melody on the keyboard while harmonised with the bass and accompanied with the drums after about 2 bars the smooth calming lyrics of Jackson come in with a guitar that starts playing broken chords in the background to create a slightly different feel to the song as compared to the intro. The guitars broken chords are also used to replace the keyboard to help make its easier to add a change to the chorus. Human nature is a very smooth song that is based allot more on the vocals being accompanied with the guitar and drums with the occasional melody from the bass which is used to add a warm texture to the song in the chorus to the song when Michael sings. When the song enters the chorus it is then given a more staccato feel along with a percussion sound of wood blocks and changes to a part where the bass follows Michael’s vocals down the scale and then repeats. The song in some ways is used to calm you down and relax from all the fast and upbeat songs that where in the album such as thriller beat it and Billy Jean the song was made for easy listening with its soft dynamics and warm comforting sounds from Michael’s voice alternating between his lows and highs.

The technology that has been put in this song other than the well decided mastering and equalizing would be the drum machine and a number over vocal over dubs used to sing a number of different parts in the song at once. It also sounds like there have been a light reverb touch up on the vocals and guitar to give it a let harsh sound.

My personal thoughts towards this song is that it is a nice song to sit back and listen to when relaxing as it is has a strikingly contrasting sound to it with its use of staccato guitar and long almost tenuto sounding vocals its also incorporated a nice use of harmonious sounds which make you just want sit back and relax while the song just plays through. I feel that compared to the other easy listening songs within the thriller album this one is probably the more striking and easily the better one of them all.

Pretty Young thing is moderately fast song based at around 125 – 130bpm it is arranged around the B minor key signature and is played in 4/4. The song first starts out quite calm quiet but is quickly changed to a almost funk/pop based bass line that sounds like it has had a synth added to it making it sound hard and sharp. The drum beat like usual is given a repetitive rhythm to form as the backbone of the song while in the background your able to hear the keyboard play the root notes even sometimes a light melody through the verse while on the chorus it has a sort of counter melody that plays with and after Jackson does his quick spur of lyrics along with the guitar. The guitar has been given its skip beat staccato rhythms which play until the chorus which it then follows Jackson’s rhythm of quick attacking lyrics. After the second chorus of the song it then immediately changes into a breakdown/bridge where the guitar then adds itself some distortion and creates an almost rhythmic riff for a while and then vocals come in singing over the top of it. around the same time the vocals come in on the break down the is introduced playing an intricate slap and pop styled bass solo and is then brought back into the chorused of the song where all the original structures come back in and play their parts until the fade out. Within the song the vocals are quite attacking and quick and are even replicated by the backing vocalists which in this song are Jackson’s sisters. The vocals in this song also include a rapid call and response which are called by Jackson then responded by his sisters replying P.Y.T which then Jackson responds to them saying Pretty Young Thing and is done again but with alternative lyrics and is replicated in every chorus.

The technological sides of this song is defiantly bass guitar which has been given a filtered like synth to give the sound a sore of edgy hard sound which will make it easily stand out while the keyboard is given a high end organ sound. The drums are again played on a drum machine to give it its striking sound. Other tech features are the volume mastering as the bass has been turned down quite a bit while the vocals for both Michael and his sisters have been turned up so they are able to stand out in the song along with the guitar and keyboard which all together make the song a more high end based song that doesn’t feature as much bass as compared to the albums other tracks

My personal opinion of this track is that it doesn’t seem to strike me to much as impressive. My thoughts are that the song has been put together well and the quality of the recording is well mastered but I feel that the song was put in the album more as a filler than a song that was in Michaels words ‘supposed to blow everyone away’ i didn’t quite like the sound that was given out by the bass and feel that the sound coming from the keyboard was just a bit to plain.

The song starts off with clean guitar playing arpeggios, drums in the background tapping the cymbals and the bass playing the root notes of the song. The dynamics sound like there being played at around mezzo-forte. The song also features a brass horn and a keyboard which is often giving off a twinkling counter melody. The song later builds into a minor groove in the pre-chorus and then just merges back into its old rut noted pattern until the bridge where the bass changes to a slap and pop technique and is giving of a minor breakdown while Michael moves to a slightly louder approach to his vocals where he probably moves the dynamics up a borderline mezzo-forte or forte once the breakdown is through he then arranges the song to go back to the chorus and once finishing the chorus he then goes back to the breakdown but this time uses it as a outro where he repeats the slap and pop bass line and stronger vocals until the song slowly fades out. While in the breakdown/outro the song also features a very delicate use of backing vocals which are soothed into the song to help thicken the texture of the song as it was a very quiet song which not much going on around it making the song very delicate.

Other than the drum machine and panning of the song the only technology that where featured within the song was the small amount of reverb that where put into the bass and guitar to lengthen the sounds of the instruments while the bass sounds like it’s been given a flat sound as so you can hear each given note as it is. The song also features Michael overdubbing his own lyrics to make himself his own backing singers.

My conclusion to this song is that it was very bland. The song sounded very flat and weak and without much instrumentation within the song it sounds like the song was arranged into the album to fill up some recording time . When compared to the rest of the songs in the album it seems out of place as it has no relations to any of the other songs. The bass sounded rather bland like the keyboard it sounded as though Michael wasn’t using his full potential for the song as what he could hav and that the whole song didn’t really have that much change so after a minute through the song it started to get old.

Thriller was designed to appeal to every audience and its diversity was evident by its guests: he enlisted Eddie Van Halen to play guitar on the hard rock of “Beat It” while inviting Paul McCartney to duet on the chipper soft pop tune “The Girl Is Mine.” Jackson also expanded the horizons of soul and dance music, producing pioneering masterpieces like “Billie Jean.” This single provided Thriller with its 1983 breakthrough, thanks in part to its groundbreaking music video, which became the first clip from a black artist to enter steady rotation on the fledgling MTV. Jackson’s smashing of the network’s racial barriers was only one aspect of Thriller’s unprecedented crossover. Introduction To Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to get a copy of the Amiga Kick.ROM image(s) the legal way. As the Amiga Kick.ROM is still under copyright and due to Amiga Technologies demanding that anyone distributing these files ceases doing so imediately we cannot disclose information on how to illegally find these files OR distribute them through ALE.

The KICK.ROM file is required by all current Amiga emulators and can be classed as the brains of the Amiga. So why and what does it do? this rom is stored on a tiny crystal on the main Amiga board (usually 512Kbs) and controls all the devices connected both internally and externally to the Amiga computer - without this crystal the Amiga wouldn't work. It's pretty easy to see why people who download WinUAE without the kick.rom are having problems getting programs to run.

Requirements

You will need the following to follow this tutorial:

A real Amiga computer (A500+/A600/A1200)

Workbench 2.0+

CrossDOS

TransROM (comes with WinUAE)

Once you have all of the above proceed to the guide.

Guide

Now this is pretty simple but also easy to mess up - don't worry it won't damage your Amiga.

First of all you will need to copy the TransROM executable from your WinUAE directory onto a 720KB formatted PC disk - if you don't have access to any 720KB disks then grab a 1.44 and cover then non-tabbed side of the disk, now format it as a 720KB floppy and bingo.

Now you will need to fire up the real Amiga and insert your Workbench disks, Once Workbench has loaded double click the Workbench disk and open the System folder now double click Shell or CLI (depending on your version of Windows).

The following window should pop-up:

Remember that file you copied to the 720KB formatted disk? this file then needs transferring over to your real Amiga so in the AmigaShell type:

Mount PC0:

Insert the disk with TransROM on into your internal Amiga drive, which can now read and write to/from 720KB PC disks and type:

PC0:

COPY TRANSROM RAM:

Now we need to rip the Kick.ROM and store it on your RAM drive (easy access). So type the following in the AmigaShell window:

RAM:

TRANSROM RAM:KICK.ROM

Your Amiga will be busy for a few seconds depending on the model you are ripping from. You should now find a file named KICK.ROM in the RAM drive - this file needs to be transferred from the RAM drive to your PC, this is were CrossDOS comes in handy.

In the AmigaDOS Shell type:

RAM:

COPY KICK.ROM PC0:

Bingo!, one KICK.ROM copied to your PC disk - simply insert this disk back into your PC and copy the KICK.ROM to your WinUAE directory.

Amiga Kickstart ROMs are required in order to boot any Amiga computer. In addition to essential boot functions, Amiga Kickstart contains large parts of the Amiga Operating system (AmigaOS). All Amiga computers (except A1000) are shipped with a built-in ROM chip.

Since Amiga ROM-files are copyrighted, one is not allowed to use any version of the Amiga Kickstart ROM unless one;

Owns an Amiga computer equipted with the corresponding ROM version.

Purchases the ROM, either as hardware chip or as a software file.

Getting ROMs for Amiga emulation

A common reason for obtaining the Amiga ROMs is emulation. The most popular Amiga emulator is WinUAE, which due to copyright reasons doesn't include (but requires) the Amiga Kickstart ROM files.

A fast and easy way to get Amiga ROMs is buying the Amiga Forever emulation and support package. It contains all Amiga Kickstart ROMs from version 1.x to 3.x, including CDTV and CD32 extended ROMs. Amiga Forever makes emulation extremely easy by providing a one-click gaming interface, ready-to-run Amiga hard disks and more than 100 pre-installed Amiga games. Upon purchase Amiga Forever and the ROM-files becomes immediately available for download.

A more difficult way to transfer the Kickstart ROM from Amiga to PC is using software such as Amiga Explorer. For this you will need a null-modem serial cable, or make the transfer over TCP/IP. This method is only recommended for experienced Amiga users.
