Why the omegaverse exploded in popularity

I recently read a comment on ao3 about omegaverse being problematic for ‘degaying’ homosexual relationships by adding female characteristics to male characters.

So rather than leave a comment no one is going to read, I’d make a tumblr post no one is going to read.

The omegaverse lets people explore NON-BINARY relationships. It is not about erasing homosexuality anymore than slash fix is about erasing heterosexuality.

I am willing to bet many people do not even realise that they are non binary as there is such little representation in media of non-binary or intersex relationships in media.

But in omegaverse it’s all over the place. Fandom helps people explore things that isn’t covered in mainstream media.

I’m sure some savvy internet detective can investigate which fandoms it spread across at what rate, but I believe the reason that it continues to grow is that it is showing people things they’re seeing for the first time.

As a person who identifies as non binary it’s been a positively amazing experience coming to terms with not having the physical body I want, but can experience through fandom.

I don’t know if the Fannibals or anyone still uses Tumblr, but I’m gonna share my cosplays (future ones too) wherever I can just to reach more buddies with a similar taste ;) So this was my fist makeup try of Hannibal and Will Graham. Pretty fresh I might say. Took the photos some weeks ago.

For every sentence Hannibal and Will say to each other, there are five more concealed between each word. Their connection has always been almost telepathic, complex, metaphorical. Every meal Hannibal cooks, every murder he commits (see: Hannibal laying his broken heart out for Will), every drawing he makes (see: Hannibal and Will as Achilles and Patroclus) is a sonnet to Will, a poem, a confession of love.
