These illustrations are beautiful, not surprising that the illustrator is German as they immediately reminded me of holidays in Austria as a child - snowy grey mountains, pastel sky and too many pine trees to count!

I love love love old shops like this. Looking at all the old books even when they’re not what I would usually read, and getting lost in all the tiny packed rooms. Found in Sheringham, Norfolk.

I’m currently taking a course in Children’s Visual Culture, which includes a section on children’s film and it touched on Anime. This isn’t a type of film I’ve ever really explored but I’m definitely going to now. Their animations are beautiful

While completing a course on Children’s Visual Culture, we touched on Picturebook Apps, I hadn’t seen these before. As much as I am sad that it means even children’s picture books are becoming digital. I can’t help but be amazed by the digital interactive picture books! I always preferred interactive books as a child with pop ups and flaps or textures.
I think it is a brilliant way of encouraging and teaching interaction for children, and help them learn about the world and immerse themselves in the fictional world created in the book.

Following Craig Oldham’s GRAD SHOWCASE I saw this lovely work by Georgia Holden. I love seeing work from other students and her branding for hop is beautiful! The concept is well thought out with some lovely illustration.

Things I’m planning on doing over the next few weeks:
- begin the JDO Raw brief - this competition deadline has already passed but I did really like it and want to have a go! I’m thinking of giving myself a mini project to do in my own time with this
- a bullet journal - they’re so pretty and look fun to make, and I love being organised! I’m planning on making it primarily about fitness, I’m a big gym goer so I think this would be good as I’m struggling to find the motivation for exercise at home. When the gyms open it will also be good for me to track my progress better!
- UX/UI online courses. We’ve touched on ux/ui design briefly in uni and I’ve made apps but there’s a lot I could learn! I want to expand my knowledge further.
- Children’s Visual Culture online course - I’d love to work on children’s books or educational books. From learning about language acquisition and then from my project Muddle I find child psychology really interesting. I’d love to find out more about designing for a child audience!
I personally struggle with staying motivated when I don’t have a routine, deadlines to prepare for etc. Hopefully these tasks will keep me busy during the rest of lockdown!

Hearing people’s stories of how they got to their dream job has been really reassuring! I’ve definitely been worried about not getting a job straight away, especially at the moment! With dreams to travel too I’m glad that it can all be included in the path to getting my dream job!
