It was winter again.
Snow drifted soft upon the trees of Coerthas as Liamont de Lovell, former inquisitor of the Ishgardian Orthodox Church and now-heretic of the Holy See lived out another day in seclusion. How long had it been since the ending of the world? How many hours stretched to days and days to months as the ever chill air of the highlands blew onwards? He knew, once. He cared, once… and then, like the ice upon the lake outside his back door, it faded to silver glass.
Yet there was only so long that he could remain in the small Coerthian cabin as time passed and wounds still-open caused by the pains he had caused as a servant of the Archbishop began to scab and heal once again. The world moved on without him. Gone was the knight with whom he had fallen in love with. Past affiliations had all but vanished. Only word of his sister’s engagement reached his ears and guided him out of his exile.
It was time to go home.

How does one come back from the ‘end of the world’? It was an oddity to him that life continued as normal despite yet another catastrophe befalling this planet that they called ‘home’. The skies burned, people’s inner demons turned into outward manifestations, and death fell across every ilm of Eorzea. The Church once again called -- the term blasphemies were all too known to them, after all -- and once again Liamont de Lovell, eldest son of House Lovell, answered. It did him well to keep such connections alive, no matter what it cost him now that his eyes had been opened to the truth behind those he once called ‘heretic’. Yet, there was something lost in striding through the hallowed halls of Halone as a dedicated servant once again; something that Liamont did not realize was important until it was gone. He had not seen Sanarisse in ages. His friendship with the Lion Tribe had all but shriveled. Contact with his family, and sister, was unseemingly rare. A sense of empty loneliness settled within Liamont as he sat outside the door of the Accord and saw few familiar faces; not even realizing that he still wore the garb of an Inquisitor. Maybe, just maybe, you don’t come back.

there's something so compelling about stories where a character's virtues intensify into flaws that lead to their downfall. loyalty and love becoming so all-consuming that compassion outside of them ceases to exist. duty overwhelming any moral compass until order becomes more important than justice. selflessness so intense it becomes self-destruction. let me watch while whatever saved the hero in the beginning destroys them. let me see them fall to their own worst impulses disguised as what once made them good.

“I’ve only ever heard words like ‘fate’ and 'destiny’ used to justify unimaginable cruelty. People used to tell me all this suffering 'was for the best’, encourage me to do nothing about it all- I don’t believe that anymore.”

theatrics
[ cw: vague description of sex acts, sad horniness ]
[ a loose followup to this and this ]
[ @throughthemanorwindow @janijaire @redmatches @atomicdeke ]
“Ishgard may be a closed-minded, backward city at times, but the opera is a place for those with talent to shine. Muscular or not, you would look gorgeous gracing the stage.”
yeah, okay. they never let me be a soloist, she’d told her, and her estimate of when the regretful text shows up is off by bells. of course they don’t want her, and she’s a stupid bitch for not snapping this idea in the elezen’s hopeful throat the second she voiced it. theater mirrors a city. ishgard’s soul is shit.
but so is radz-at-han’s, where they fucked her in character. only in character -

29. What is their weapon of choice, and what weapon do they dislike using the most?
The longsword is Liamont's weapon of choice more out of habit than anything else. As a noble, having a sword at his hip was common even when dressed in finery. Because of this, he began training in the longsword at a young age. It may not be his best weapon, but it is often his most accessible and always something tried and true to turn to. His least-favorite is a bow. Finesse isn't his strongsuit, and being nearsighted meant that being without glasses made ranged combat immensely difficult.

Angst questions
Yeah so um I decided to make an oc ask meme based around angst. Some of these I came up with myself, others are from other ask memes and I just picked the angsty ones so here goes:
1. What’s one experience your character had that made them very afraid?
2. Does your character have a deep and/or dark secret? If so, what is it?
3. Have they ever lost a loved one? What happened to them, and are they the same as they were before they lost them?
4. Has your character ever been hurt or betrayed by someone they thought they could depend on? What happened?
5. Would they ever turn on someone they just met in order to save themselves?
6. Have they ever committed a crime, or something they felt was wrong? What was it?
7. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would it be and why?
8. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?
9. Is the character a victim of abuse?
10. What were the character’s parents like? What was the affect the parents had on the character?
11. What are your character’s coping mechanisms?
12. Do they like to suffer? Like to see other people suffering?
13. What does it take to make your character cry?
14. What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
15. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
16. What are your character’s vices and bad habits?
17. Is your character afraid of death? Why/why not?
18. Would society call your character a good guy or a bad guy? what would they say they are?
19. What is your character insecure about?
20. What was something they struggled with greatly and how did they overcome it?
21. Does your character have anyone that they really care about, to the point that they would give their life for them? If so, who are they and what is your character’s relation to them? If not, do they wish they did? Is there anyone they wish they could build such a relationship with?
22. If they could change just one thing about themselves, what would it be?
23. Is your character more physically or emotionally strong? Why is this?
24. What is your character’s most important possession? Why?
25. Do they find that they care what others think of them? Or do they not really mind how others view them?
26. What, in your character’s life, puts the most pressure on them?
27. What would be the worst way to die, in your character’s opinion?
28. What is your character’s greatest strength?
29. What is their weapon of choice, and what weapon do they dislike using the most?
30. What makes them feel safe or secure? What makes them feel insecure or unsafe?
