the beginning of the end

I suppose this is as good of a time as any to announce the inevitable. The Vomir LP, HQ14, will be the last Halloween Quest Records release. I have discovered, with utter certainty, that I cannot run a label by myself. In all honesty i've spent the past however many months fucking up and fucking everyone over in the process. Some good has come out of it, but some bad has also. Anyway, it's over.

This is not to say that what has been released and what will have been released will no longer be available. The bandcamp and store will be maintained and I will continue to send out orders as they come in. Also, this will not be the end of my label ventures, as I am joining the label AUGHT VOID to assist with their productions. I feel that I will be in a better place to do what I love doing, if I have people to do it with. Already I am curating a HNW compilation for AV. I will keep whoever cares posted about this as it continues to develop.

I'd like to thank everyone who has bought a tape, and all the artists that have worked with me. It's been a fantastic ride, and I don't regret, well, most of it. Thank you for continued support and get stoked for VOMIR.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

So I have two kinds of news: bad news and very, very good news. We'll start with the bad news! I have absolutely no idea what so ever if the starr party/methlab explosion split is ever going to see the light of day. Methlab Explosion isn't getting back to me and hasn't been for a while now, so I dunno if it's still a thing. As such, it is being taken off of the priority list, and being moved to HQ15. Sorry to the no one who was stoked for this. On to the good news: I'm proud to announce our next two releases, HQ13 and HQ14. Our thirteenth release will be from Calgary's Black Albino Bones. Expect weird punk glory. Get stoked. Our fourteenth release will be our first vinyl release (fuck a the get over heres), and I couldn't be more stoked about it. We will, in conjunction with the great AUGHT VOID, be releasing a new VOMIR album on black vinyl. you know what to fucking expect, and you're stoked out of your mind. Expect both these releases within the next few months, as I'm taking things a bit slower, for financial reasons of course. Stay tuned, watch out, and stay fucking stoked.

NEWS

- BICIKL tapes are dubbed, currently sitting in my bedroom. Will get art printed for this asap, and then they'll be available to order. - Same goes for Greg Foley tapes (yes, i know that those have been "available to order" for months - unfortunately this has never been the case, see the previous post) - Tapes have been ordered for the Terrible Crayon release, that whole thing should be done within a month. - Pinery tapes are moving slowly, but should be done within a month and a half.  - The Redsk/Starr Party split isn't happening anymore. Sorry for false hype.  - The SCISSOR tapes are definitely happening, though, and that`s sweet. Limited run (about 25), clear tapes, it should be good.

An Apology/An Announcement.

Okay, here goes.

We have been fucking up, hard, over the past couple of months. We have gotten nothing done, we haven't mailed out releases to people, you name it, we haven't done it. Little has been done to rectify this situation. There are a lot of reasons, a lot of stories, behind why this has happened, but I don't imagine that anyone wants to hear them. The basic story is that we have been broke, I've been dealing with illness, and things have not, generally, gone as planned. All I have to say is that we, Oliver and I, are infinitely sorry to the artists and people that we've pretty much fucked over over the last little while.

This being said, we are now working to rectify everything that we've done wrong. The Greg Foley tapes will be sent out as soon as we can get the art done (because we never got the fucking art done x( ). The Ak'chamel tapes are finished, ready to be sent out, and the artist copies will be sent out within the week (sorry guys). The BICIKL tapes are being made, at the plant or whatever, and will be done by the end of the year. The Pinery tapes are fine, work in progress as always. I don't know if the starr party/redsk split is actually happening in physical form, more on that in due time i suppose.

As for future releases, we have things planned from SCISSOR and Terrible Crayon, as well as a collaborative release from starr party and Methlab Explosion. We are NOT currently accepting demos and the like, for obvious reasons.

If you are still willing to hear us out, and to bear with us as we try desperately to get our shit together, we thank you sincerely for that. I promise that things will improve, and that we will be the best label that we can be.

Just finished sending out these two outstanding orders! (Sorry for the delay!). Also, we're pleased to announce that both the Ak'chamel and Greg Foley tapes are essentially finished! We'll be ready to ship them next week, so if you want a copy of either or of both, let us know!

AN APOLOGY AND AN UPDATE. STAYING STOKED.

Okay.

First off, I'd like to apologize for how long it is taking us to finish the releases that we are working on. Oliver was in BC for a month and thus we weren't really able to get much done then, and we're having trouble getting back into gear. To further complicate things, I'm leaving for montreal on sunday, and won't be back until the 26th. Things have been difficult and we haven't been dealing with it well. All of this being said, Oliver will be dubbing the Ak'Chamel and greg foley tapes while I'm gone, and those two releases will  be finished by the end of august. We will then proceed to quickly finish everything else that we have planned (turns out that I'm not going to university until January, so i will have time). Again, sorry for the delays, especially to the artists involved. Things will work out, and soon.

Second of all, fuck secrets. Here is a list of everything that we're currently working on and that we have plans to work on in the future. we aren't currently accepting demos as we're pretty swamped, but after all this is done we will again be ecstatic to hear all the crazy sounds that everyone is making. So, in order:

-Greg Foley - Anti Space. blistering dreaming ambient. Can not be heard as of yet, but it will be up on the HQR bandcamp within the next couple of days. Edition of 45 tapes.

- The Get Over Heres - S/T 7". Our first vinyl release. Can not be heard yet, but it will be available on the HQR bandcamp as soon as possible.

As for the future, we're currently working on the art/printing for the Ak'chamel tapes, and we're stoked to announce that we'll be releasing Greg Foley's "Anti Space" on C60 tapes, coming up right after Ak'chamel.
