There's an EU initiative going on right now that essentially boils down to wanting to force videogame publishers with paid games and/or games with paid elements such as DLC, expansions and microtransactions to leave said games in a playable state after they end support, or in simpler terms, make them stop killing games.

A "playable state" would be something like an offline mode for previously always online titles, or the ability for people to host their own servers where reasonably possible just to name some examples.

I don't think I need to tell anyone that having something you paid for being taken from you is bad, which is a thing that routinely happens with live service and other always online games with a notable recent example being The Crew which is now permanently unplayable.

Any EU citizen is eligible to sign the initiative, but only once and if you mess up that's it. You can find it here. (https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/details/2024/000007_en)

Even if you're not European or you signed it already, you can share this initiative with anyone who is, even if they don't care about videogames specifically because this needs a million signatures and there is different thresholds that need to be met for each EU country for their votes to even count and could also be a precedent for other similar practices like when Sony removed a bunch of Discovery TV content people paid for.

god i hate how normalized diet culture and shit like bmi and calories are. bmi is based on eugenics. calories are a measurement of how much energy something gives u and not at all of how much weight or fat ull gain. diets have been proven to be harmful and ultimately unhelpful in actually losing weight. fatness has been largely proven to not be inherently unhealthy and doesnt inherently cause health issues.

Remember kids: cheaper products are shittier products. When conservatives say they'll reduce government spending what they mean is they'll turn vital government services and infrastructure that impact your quality of life into the equivalent of easily broken K-mart crap and it'll just cost more to fix it later.

It's cheaper - and better for you - in the long term to just spend enough money for something better.

Case in point: the NBN. Both Labor and the Coalition promised to upgrade the nation's internet. Labor's plan was $43 billion for world class internet but the Coalition won in 2013 on the promise of spending $29.5 billion for internet that was 20 times SLOWER than Labor's idea because of the inferior technology.

Who could've predicted that cost-cutting measures on Australia's largest ever infrastructure project would make it shitty?

The Coalition won in 2013, promised to finish the NBN in 2016, and then proceeded to blow out to $56 billion and by 2020 be only 90% complete, outdated, and already the Coalition was investing billions more to upgrade it because it was too slow for modern internet needs before it was even finished. The government wanted to sell it off in the future to recoup the cost, but now it wouldn't even break even if it was sold off.

The Coalition tried to cut spending and found that the piss poor service it was delivering was so bad it needed to nearly DOUBLE its original price and THEN admit that Labor's plan was better.

So when people say "oh the Coalition is better economic manager because they spend less" you can point out that no, they initially spend less, give you a worse product, then we need to spend MORE to fix it later. That's not good economic management. That's just bad planning.
