ArcheAge Unchained: Breeding Bears (and Yatas)
This guide helps you raise and breed bears (and yatas).
Raise and breed your own mounts and battle pets!  Scroll to the bottom for the TLDR version.
Bears:
To start, you’ll need to purchase a few bears to plant on your land.  You can buy a Blizzard Cub from the Vocation Shop.  Bears grow best and live the longest in Subarctic climates.  After you’ve placed your bear cub, feed it Combined Feed to start its growth.  Using the whistle icon will release the bear to the wild (this is the equivalent of butchering a weakened livestock.) Fate will decide which gender the bear will grow to be.  Once your bears have matured, females and males should be cared for differently:
Females: feed, but do not shear.  This will keep them Thriving longer, and will prolong their lifespan.  When they recover to their normal state, feed them again.  You’ll want to keep them Thriving and ready to mate.
Males: feed and shear.  This will reset the males’ recovery cycle and reset the chance that they’ll be ready to breed.
You’ll likely have to go through several cycles of this, until you get a chance to breed your bears.
Once your male has decided that he’s ready to mate, you’ll gain the option to Encourage him.  Use this option to interact with him, and he will mate with all surrounding females.  [”If you stand in the pen just right, large or small farms, even a male in one corner can reach the female in the opposite corner and the whole pen ^-^”  -Hijiki]
After breeding, your females will be in ‘incubation mode’; you’ll notice they will have little hearts over them, instead of flowers or plus signs.  When their incubation cooldown ends, you may or may not end up with a pregnant bear!  If none of your bears were impregnated, rinse and repeat the above steps.  You can easily spot a pregnant bear, as it will be sitting down.  Interact with your bear to birth a cub that can be raised into a mount or a battle pet.
More Tips:
Polaris Cub (the baby bear you just acquired) can be raised into a mount (Polaris Bjorne) or a battle pet (Polaris Ursun).  There are two versions of polar bear battle pets.
Your polar bear mount can be further traded in for a black bear mount (Ebonfur Bjorne).  Bring a level 50+ Polaris Bjorne, a Purebred Bear Certificate, and 500 Honey to a Daru Trader on Mirage Isle to fulfill a quest and trade your polar bear for a black bear.
Yatas:
Raising yatas is pretty identical to raising bears.  Purchase several Cashmere Yata Calfs.  Yatas grow best in Arid climates.  Feed the yata calves; feed the adult females; feed and shear the adult males.  Pray to the RNG gods for a proc, lol.
While the basic Yata Calf mount can be purchased from a Stablehand, the Striped Yata Calf, Palomino Yata Calf, and Black Yata Calf can only be obtained through breeding.
Note: the Yata Calf purchased from the Stablehand is a mount.  Only the Cashmere Yata Calf (livestock) can be planted and used for breeding.
TLDR:
1.  Plant several bear cubs 2.  Feed females ( DO NOT SHEAR ) 3.  Feed and shear males 4.  Baby bear!
