Genuine question: why is it that men who are attracted to nonbinary people cannot call themselves straight or else they're bigots that see afab nonbinary people as women, but lesbians are forced to include nonbinary people in our orientation? Straight males and homosexual females have the same orientation. It doesn't make any sense.

thinking about my grandma's sister who was a raging butch kid, dated a mennonite chick in high school, left for the convent she said was full of lesbians, ran away from there with a nun, then dumped her after 30 years to be with a mulleted grocery store manager. now they just play video games and ride their three wheeler together 😭

This is what we have been saying this whole time. If gender means nothing, then women who only love other women is not a real concept anymore. Now anyone who likes the aesthetic of lesbianism without actually meeting the criteria and living our experience can use the label, and you're a bigot for even questioning it. You've reduced lesbianism to a mythical concept that doesn't mean anything. It's disgusting.

Being a woman is a real experience. It has meaning. Being a woman that only loves other women is a real experience. Men do not even come close to understanding our place in the world as an oppressed group of people that are ostracized for not being attracted to men. So yes, you can't be a lesbian, and I'm not sorry about it. Exclusion is necessary to have actual meanings to our words.

“gender is a social construct” people but then they also have strict rules for sexuality and basically bring back gender binary when it comes to sexuality 🤦 “um well ur [gender] so u can’t be [sexuality] 🤓” geez shut the hell up would you??

people need to realize that dissolving the lines between gender also means dissolving the lines between sexuality. you cannot say gender is fake and then say sexuality is strict and rigid.

there are multigender/genderfluid people who are lesbians and gay men at the same time. there are mspec lesbians/gays/straights who have a complex relationship with gender and their sexuality. there are gay men who are women and lesbians who are men because male isn't the opposite of female.

"conflicting" labels are a part of many people's queer experience, because the human experience isnt simple enough to be put into neat perfect categories. if you truly support trans/genderqueer people, you need to accept the fact that gender and sexuality is complex and there will be people whose identities you don't understand

Can someone please reassure me that finding a normal lesbian partner my age who has never been with a dude and is willing to be natural with shaving/etc isn't going to be impossible to find because Im having an existential crisis about it :(

sometimes i just brood about how i can't walk around shirtless in public, which is such a simple privilege males have over females that really shouldn't mean much. however, it's impossible for me to rebel against this expectation on my own; the reason i don't just say "fuck it" and walk out shirtless is because i would become a sexual object to every man i see. the intent i had would be hijacked by the male gaze, if that makes sense.

i also see this hijacking thing happen with sexual liberation, where women were/are trying to reclaim their agency and right to have sed with whoever, but many men don't see it like that. they just see women they can have sex with, and the meaning is lost on them.

this observation has always frustrated me and it just sucks that you can see the pattern in a lot of aspects of feminism, where men will pick out parts that benefit them and THEN support those parts for their own benefit.

When will straight women learn that asking the only butch lesbian in a room her pronouns and no one else is stereotyping and alienating

Its like, this woman is hairy and wears stuff I don't deem appropriate for women to wear, therefore she might not identify as a woman, but I won't assume that about the people who are dressed like good women and filling their role!
