Day 30: Thursday, February 20
Today was a long day and I listened to Champagne Supernova by Oasis. I have noticed that I don’t go a single day without creating some type of playlist for myself or looking through my current playlists on Spotify. I have noticed that there are a few major ways I consume music, through Youtube, radio, Cds, vinyl, physical places playing music, friends, and mainly streaming services like Spotify. I really love the variety that they provide and how different channels have completely different experiences and limitations.

Day 29: Wednesday, February 19
Today I listened to You by Mk.gee while I was walking around outside. I walked around for a while. I listened to this song a lot last year after I found it on the blonde playlist. I really like this band’s style. A lot of the songs on this album sound very similar to me but I still really like them and can appreciate the art. I also really like the cover art for this album for some reason. The color scheme is nice.

Day 28: Tuesday, February 18
Today I listened to the album Continuum again, but only because I had to drive again and it’s one of the only CDs I have in my car. I also listened to songs on Soldier of Love and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. These albums are some of the few that I own, but I really like them. It’s annoying to have to eject the entire disk to listen to more, though. I remember having a lot of CDs back when I was very young.

Day 26: Monday, February 17
Today I listened to the song Say So by Doja Cat on the radio. I listened to the radio for about 20 minutes on my drive and I heard a pretty large variety of songs from different genres and eras. I think it’s interesting how the radio has become a much less popular way of consuming music in recent years. Streaming services have become more popular and I think it’s due to the fact that there are no ads and they allow the user to choose their own music on their own time. I also would prefer to use Spotify, but my car doesn’t have an aux outlet that works.

Day 25: Sunday, February 16
Today I listened to Everything’s Beautiful by Robert Glasper & Miles Davis. I streamed this album on Spotify once again. I listened to this album at work so I played it over the loudspeaker. I always make really long four-hour playlists for when I work so I don’t need to change the song very often. I like being able to choose the music because I also get to control what kind of music our customers consume and create an experience for them.

Day 24: Saturday, February 15
Today I listened to Continuum by John Mayer. I listened to this while eating, doing homework, and updating my Linked In. John Mayer impresses me so much with his guitar and songwriting skills. I love the guitar riff on Vultures so I have been listening to that. I think he is an artist that is really cool to collaborate with because every time I listen to a song he is on he adds a whole different layer to the music. I also distinctly remember my dad playing Room For Squares in the car so I like that album a lot too.

Day 23: Friday, Feb 14
Today I listened to Sza’s Ctrl for the billionth time. I absolutely love this album and never get tired of it no matter how many times I listen to it. Again, it’s an album that does not have a single bad song. I never feel the need to skip anything and will listen to this album straight through multiple times in a row. Today I was really into Go Gina, but honestly I could not pick a favorite because she really has a great song for every mood I’m in. I listened to this album on vinyl on my roommates record player while I cleaned my apartment. This is a different method of consuming this album because it gives it a more physical sound than headphones do.

Day 22: Thursday, Feb 13
Today I listened to D'Angelo's album, Black Messiah. I streamed this album on Spotify on the bus on the way to my 3:00pm class. I think this is a beautiful collection of songs and it’s one of those albums that doesn’t have a bad track. Betray My Heart is one that I listened to a few times today. I think listening to music on public transportation is always a good place because you experience different people and public places while simultaneously experiencing the music very privately and personally through headphones. I like the contrast.

Day 21: Wednesday, Feb 12
Today I listened to Motion Sickness by Phoebe Bridgers. I listened to this song while doing homework for my classes. I love the feeling that this song evokes. Her quiet voice sounds very nice paired with the dark distorted guitar which adds to the empty feeling of the lyrics. The lyrics to this song are heartbreaking. They talk about Phoebe's relationship with her emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend Ryan Adams.

Day 20: Tuesday, Feb 11
Today I listened to Frank Ocean’s cover of Beyonce’s song I Miss You (which he helped write). The cover is only available on Youtube but I wish it was on Spotify so I could add it to my playlists. It’s called “Frank Ocean- I Miss You (Live )At The Bowery Ballroom In New York City!”. This cover is much better than the original. I don’t mind listening to it on Youtube. Frank really has a gift and his live vocals are crazy. Another cover he does well is At Your Best (You Are Love)- I always feel that one. I like seeing the video of him singing though and I really want to see him perform live some day.

Day 19: Monday, Feb 10
Today was a pretty slow day. I only have one class on Fridays so I had time to go shopping for groceries. I usually start to run low on food after a month or so and I have to restock. My cabinet only really had a jar of peanut butter and half a bag of rice. I drove to the Cub in Minneapolis. I could’ve gone to the Target in Dinkytown because it’s closer but I had some extra time to actually go to the grocery store. I ended up spending a little over $50 on pretty basic grocery items: apples, blueberries, lunch meat, pasta, beans, rice, spinach, carrots, etc. I wish fruit was cheaper because I would buy a lot more of it. I need to start looking up a new recipe so I can mix up my diet a little bit. Every time I go to the grocery store I just buy all the same things and don’t really bother to find anything new.

Day 18: Sunday, Feb 9
There was not much going on today. I spent a while reading an article for class about animation and watched a tutorial video on Linked In. I purchased a Jazba ticket and a Jazba afterparty ticket. I have not spent much money on entertainment lately, but I do have a Netflix account. I pay for Spotify for $5 a month so I get Hulu with that as well.
Today I listened to Rich Girl by Hall & Oates. Shout out to Hall & Oates for this song. My mom would play their music a lot when I was a kid so I’m just instantly in a good mood hearing their music. You Make My Dreams always makes me feel like I’m living in an 80s movie when it’s playing in my headphones. It’s a mood-booster.

Day 17: Saturday, Feb 8
I purchased a few items from the Rosedale mall. I spent about $40 total on clothes and jewelry. I usually shop at stores that sell extremely cheap clothing that doesn’t really hold up well over time, but I don’t want to spend a ton of money on high end clothing. I would love to invest in some expensive leggings though because mine always get torn.
Today I listened to Yesterday by the Beatles. I’m always amazed at how many hits the Beatles have when I scroll through their Spotify page. The sheer amount of music they have is insane to me. I used to think the Beatles were overrated when I was young but I definitely think they’ve earned their spot. They have so many good songs it’s crazy, I just kept adding more and more to my queue.

Today I listened to Aromanticism by Moses Sumney on Spotify because I found his newest release Polly and was intrigued. This album is beautiful and delicate in a weird way that I don’t understand and I’m not even sure I like. He sings in a very high octave which is cool. I just think he’s super unique unlike any other artist I’ve heard. I love Make Out In My Car and his single Polly.

Day 15: Thursday, Feb 6
It was a nice day. I met up with my friend to work on a project and then hung out at the library until class. I walked to the campus connector stop and debated buying a coffee from the Starbucks in Coffman because I was feeling pretty tired. I decided that I didn’t need to spend the money because Starbucks is super overpriced for the amount of coffee you actually get.
Today I bought a ticket to see Snoh Aalegra with my friends in April so naturally I streamed her music on Spotify. The tickets were $50 which I think is a pretty good deal. I’m excited to see her perform live. I love her new album Ugh, Those Feels Again. There are a ton of great songs. I really like Find Someone Like You and Nothing To Me.

Day 14: Wednesday, Feb 5
I noticed when I was putting on my clothes that most of it was Nike. My leggings, socks, windbreaker and shoes were all Nike. I think it’s interesting because I didn’t think about that fact when I was putting things together, it just kind of happened naturally. It might also be because a lot of the Nike gear that I purchase has the same aesthetic. I think generally, athletic wear can be mixed and matched a lot more easily than other types of clothes.
Today I listened Wasteland, Baby by Hozier. I want to be friends with Hozier so bad for some reason. He’s probably a really cool person. This album makes me feel very nostalgic and a little bit cynical. It makes me want Spring to come faster so I can listen to this album outside on a nice day or drive around with the windows down.

Day 13: Tuesday, Feb 4
This Thursday was pretty average. I spent most of the day doing homework at the library. I bought a bottle of sprite from the vending machine because I wanted sugar. I keep checking Skyscanner for cheap plane tickets somewhere for Spring Break but the prices seem to be going up. I would be willing to pay some amount over $100 roundtrip to honestly any other state. I just want a change of scenery.
Today I’ve been listening to Tame Impala on Spotify and watching music videos on Youtube. I saw Tame Impala perform live at Surly Brewing Co. this summer and it was crazy. We were pretty close to the front of the crowd and they had a ton of lasers and confetti. I think Currents is a masterpiece. Something about the way Kevin Parkin composes songs is addicting.
