Bhutan Tour 2020
Tumblr media
With the special request Mr. Ram Chandra Lamichhane CEO of DreamTibet Tours, we (all together 14 representative of Trekking and Tours Agency of Nepal) travelled to Paro, Bhutan on Jan 6, 2020. Our flight was scheduled at 9:30 so we arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport at around 6:30.
It was a 4 nights 5 days tour. The tour itinerary provided was the normal tour itinerary which includes the hike to the famous Taktsang Monastry, Paro Sightseeing, Thimpu Valley Sightseeing, Dochula Pass, Punakha Visit, Punakha Dzong, Chimi Lhakhang Temple, Drugyel Dzong etc.
We reached Paro International Airport at 11 am. It was around 45 minutes flight from Kathmandu via Druk Air A320. The weather was very clear, the Boarding Crew of Druk Air in TIA managed us the left side so that we can take pictures of the Himalayas Region. As we flew higher, we began to see the mystic Himalayas of Nepal including the Annapurna Range, Mt. Everest, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Lotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchanjunga and others Himalayas.
Our Guide Mr. Indra Hang Subba provided us warm welcome at the Paro Airport. As the itinerary was scheduled to go to Thimpu after launch, we headed to visit the Famous Taktsang Monastry. The weather forecast showed the rain and snow fall on Jan 8 and Jan 9 and our Taktsang hike was scheduled for 9, so due to the forecast rainfall, we changed the Takstang hike schedule for the first day (Jan 6).
The Paro Taktsang Monastry which literally means “Tigress lair” also called as “Tiger’s Nest” is located 10 KM to the north of Paro and hangs on a cliff at 3120 meters above the Paro Valley. After a hike of 2 hours we reached the Paro Taktsang. Paro Taktsang was built in 1962. It is believed that 8th century guru Padmasambhava flew to this location from Tibet on the back of a tigress from Khenpajong, meditated there and remove the evil power which was trying to destroy the Buddhism in Bhutan.
It was around 6 when we hike back to the parking lot of the Paro Taktsang and headed to Thimphu which was 50 km and about 1 hour 20 minutes’ drive from Paro.
After having the breakfast at our Hotel in Thimphu (Hotel Amodhara), at we to visit the Buddha Doredenma, a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue in the northern mountain of Thimphu. At around 12:30 PM we headed towards the Punakha Town crossing the Dochula Pass (elevation 3100 meters) and reached Punakha at around 2:30 PM which is 72 km from Thimphu.
Punakha which is located at an elevation of 1200 meters is the administrative center of Punakha Dzongkhag, one of the 20 districts of Bhutan. Punakha was the capital of Bhutan until 1955. We visited the Punakha Dzong an ancient fortes constructed in 16 the century also called as “the palace of great happiness or bliss”. Videography is strictly prohibited inside the Dzong. This Dzong is the main venue of royal Wedding and Royal coronation.
We spend our second night at a Hotel called “Hotel Pema Karpo”, a beautiful 3 start hotel with great food and hospitality. It is located at the Bank of Puna Tsang Chu river along Bajo Samthang Road, Wangdue.
Next morning (8th Jan), after breakfast we headed back to Punakha Town and went to Visit Chimi Lhakhang also called as “The fertility Temple” which is very popular for the blessing to beget children. The tradition at the monastery is to strike pilgrims on the head with a 10-inch wooden Phallus. Traditionally symbols of an erect penis in Bhutan have been intended to drive away the evil eye and malicious gossip.
After visiting the Chimi Lhakhang temple, we headed back towards Thimphu. We reached the Dochula Pass, we halt there for Photography. We reached Thimphu around 2 PM, had launch and drive back on the same day to Paro. We spend our 3rd and 4th night at the Beautiful Rema Resort at Paro. On the forth day (Jan 9) we visited the Drugyel Dzong and Paro Dzong. We roam the silent streets of Paro to explore the Paro Shopping.
The overall experience of Bhutan Tour was very beautiful and amazing.
