Hands down.

This episode is in my top 3 episodes of emerald witch arc.

I don't know how you found it. But it really triggered me, that they did not showed Vincent's day of death fully.

And they also made Cedric's death day on the 13th not the 28th. However. We got a little more infos about the parents of Claudia.

What I love more is again the dramatic hint about Ciel being aware of Shinigami. Yes. He may have a foot in the grave, for being so cuddly with this demon. But I still don't think that's the sole reason.

And if we can trust Ciel's feelings. He thinks also something is off.

However. The episode isn't one of my favorite just because of those scenes.

It's more my favorite because here we get such a crass confrontation between the relationship of Ciel and Sebastian, and the relationship between Sieglinde and Wolfram.

Here we don't have Agni telling Sebastian how important it is to make sure his master is safe and sound.

Here we have Wolfram getting to the point his life is only worthy because of the little one by his side.

And let me tell you something?

We already got this confirmation from Sebastian himself this very season.

While Wolfram very early comes to this conclusion by being aware of the colors of live, because of Sieglinde's devotion at him, Sebastian is a demon and so realization of feelings takes longer and probably isn't easy for him.

But we see it. His distress when Ciel was in misery and couldn't bear the touch of an adult. Sebastian was pretty lost. He himself said.

How can he be a butler without being close to his master.

I mean. Tanaka probably didn't need to carry Vincent on his arms nor did he needed to touch him, to be his master. But Sebastian ...

A few episodes later, Ciel being fit and able to let himself touch again only from Sebastian, that demon looks so happy.

And what does he tell us? He enjoy playing the butler disguise more than being a raging beast.

He enjoy this life more than the one he grew up as.

Being human and making his master happy makes his life colorful and bright, while being a simple demon makes it dull.

That's why Wolfram's memories are so important for the story of Ciel and Sebastian. It shows us the deep development that demon made from the first minute of contract until now.

But there is more.

When Sieglinde is so heartbroken over Wolfram's deadly wound, Ciel is harsh, to make her realize she is the only one being able to save her guardian.

Doesn't sound as if we got something like that before. But that's what we got.

Remember when Undertaker hurt Sebastian deadly on the Campania?

Back then it was only Ciel who could help Sebastian. And what did he do? He put himself physically between Undertaker and Sebastian.

He saved Sebastian's life by putting himself in great danger. He couldn't know that Undertaker really would stop because of this. I mean Undertaker just threw Ciel into death a moment before.

Some could say Ciel couldn't risk losing the only tool he had for revenge. But after all the things Yana shows us. No. He did so, because deep down he was just as shocked and thrown off as Sieglinde. The only thing holding his composure is the fact, that Ciel could control his emotions.

That's still not everything.

I also love that the teasing is back, right after three episodes of cuddles and touches and being close to each other.

Sebastian did not even try to hide his beautiful fangs anymore. He is so content.

He still can't help but also gain for a little bit compliments. Poor demon needs his petting after all those weeks of withhold.

And he gets the only way Ciel would give it to him.

I seriously love the ... Clover puts into the subtitles. It's so meaningful.

Of course Ciel won't tell his demon he trust him the most. I mean why should he? Sebastian fucking knows Ciel trusts him. Otherwise their contract wouldn't be that strong.

And it is.

Sebastian also trusts Ciel to make the best decisions. And Ciel trusts to keep himself save. That's why he is nearly sleeping when the bullets fly across them. And is relaxing while Sebastian stabs the Captain in her neck.

Also Ciel doesn't fear his demon nor his abilities. He said so himself. The worse thing than werewolfs are the real monsters. Called humans.

All in all.

Their relationship development is so meaningful and intense, that Yana shows us in every season. Every book. If it wouldn't be that important, she wouldn't take the time to write such a big story around it.

Because if you look at it from afar, that's the real story. Sebastian's and Ciel's developement around each other. And the main character isn't Ciel. But the black butler. Sebastian.

And to close this post with a look at the upcoming chapter. I think this book will rip our hearts out, because Sebastian will get hurt.

Ciel, covered by Sebastian's black jacket, who signed a contract promising his death and revenge. Versus his mother, covered in a white bridal veil, who signed a contract promising the continuation of life and love. Two contracts and two veils - but one promises death while the other promised life.

I've just reread the whole Green Witch Arc and DAMN is it dirty. Like. I completely forgot that the servants WERE EAVESDROPPING during the almost soul-eating scene. I mean...

Just imagine what they "couldn't" hear? Ciel choking and maybe moaning? You'd expect such kinda sounds from something like this:

They totally heard his screams and the order to let go... Then they probably heard this:

And just what kind of context would they have to put it, huh? Tell me, is there any other context to even put it in apart from... You know... This?

I dunno how they're gonna animate it, but bring it on! I'm ready for it. And I hope people will write hot juicy fanfiction about it. Oh, yes!

We talk a lot about so many scenes in the upcoming season (which will air NEXT WEEK!!), like crying Seba, Sbcl skinny dipping in a giant cauldron, heartbroken Seba, tentacle!mode Seba, happy Seba, Ciel in a dress (again). Lots and lots of Sebaciel stuff are being animated (I really, really, really, really hope they're not going to skip ANYTHING).

But we're also going to get these on top of everything else...

Also, I wonder if we're going to see glimpses of Eric & Alan...

I watched a few movie reviews on Nezha 2 and one of them on two white guys (iirc) doing a podcast on their surface thoughts on the movie kinda threw me off as one of them said 'one thing that was off-putting to me was a lot of onscreen crying' or something like that. Which is super off-putting to me actually.

I mean what do you mean? Your little brother or mother or wife just died in front of your eyes what do you mean you should not cry and it's not a natural response? Ao Bing cried into his dad at the start as he felt so awful for letting his dad down and his buddy nearly died if he didn't intervene. Ne Zha cried so hard when he saw his parents again because he really thought they were gone. Both kids are three years old for the love of God. And Shen Gong Bao is a literal family man he has a soft spot for his little brother of course when he died trying to escape he had to cry so much and to be honest, I've watched videos of how the animation team spent a long time animating and planning the crying scene for him to ensure it's perfect. The creative team has spent so long to ensure every detail to actually ensure the whole story and every shot and scene will have a lasting emotional impact to touch the audience.

And another thing that's also respectable is how the team and the story in general is very committed to fleshing out the characters and ensuring they are all very relevant to the plot and have their own personal stories in a sequel, which is not often seen nowadays given how hard it is to make a better sequel (but that's another story and post I digress, but anyway-)

What I'm trying to say is that we all need more stories of boys openly crying. The only other movies off the top of my head I can think that has boys openly crying are maybe Coco, or Luca and maybe HTTYD, and I feel Nezha 2 has done a great job in showing the different sides of healthy masculinity, in how it's okay for boys to ugly cry and for dads to be tough on the exterior while also being very caring and gentle to their own sons, and for close brotherhood bonds being a soft side of characters. And it also dispels a stereotype in how Asians are often stoic and not as emotional as westerners, as while a lot of Chinese and Asians are quite stoic, there are plenty of people who see themselves in Ao Bing and Ne Zha and etc.

And I also saw a post earlier on how Ne Zha and Ao Bing defy societal rules and societal expectations respectively, with Ao Bing doing so by being outwardly feminine in looks and being elegant while precise and aggressive in his attacks and still being able to be confident in his self, while Ne Zha has been insecure in his own looks until the end. And personally I feel the movie is a great place for kids and boys especially to learn that masculinity can be anything they can define, like how one can be more confident like Ao Bing even when he's not traditionally masculine, while knowing it's okay to be insecure and that they can overcome judgements in society.

And with their friendship and loyalty to each other (and possibly *cough* *gay* *it's ok if you don't ship them*), it also teaches boys that male friendships can be very close knit where they can be vulnerable to one another, like how Nezha soon learnt to be vulnerable around Ao Bing and how Ao Bing learnt to follow his heart through Ne Zha's influence. Boys can learn from one another and become emotionally stronger together like it's not just a girls thing yay-

So yeah this is another long ramble but tldr again:

Nezha 2 is a fantastic movie on healthy masculinity and we need more movies like this for boys especially to learn that expressing strong emotions are very healthy and essential in being a person. And we need to punch toxic masculinity to death the way Lu Tong and He Tong did at the end to the bald bitch so-
