Regarding GiovanH’s second article, in which he claims the HICU is a fake and that the FRAF are under Hussie’s thumb, two of FRAF’s staff have put forward statements disputing that.

they did pick and choose from the things I said to twist it into fitting into their narrative, even if there wasn't much to twist. Some notable points that I did explicitly clarify but they excluded are that the list of works are not run by Andrew for approval, and we don't consult the HICU on the list out of any kind of requirement or social pressure. We were literally not ever even asked to, we asked for their input because we value their input. Additionally, he was very clearly trying to lead our conversation into anti-HICU sentiment and was (mid-conversation) trying to spin things I was saying towards being anti-HICU. He very clearly had a goal in our conversation and new what he wanted to get out of it, and wasn't particularly interested in anything that might conflict with it.

in the second article, the one titled "the homestuck union is not real", there's a bit where gio asserts that austin stepped down from vast error not long after getting the homestuck license. this is true, technically. austin did stop working on vast error to work on disenfranchised. disenfranchised fucking rules, and austin's been working on vast error for close to 15 years, and in doing so is beholden to decisions made as far back as when they were 13 years old. that's over twice as long as homestuck ran on mspa. i would get tired too. this is a normal thing to feel.

but since the case that needs to be made is "FRAF is a bad idea because they're putting control of their projects under HICU control", something untrue, the facts of the matter are ignored. "austin was told to step down by hussie" would be easily disprovable, because it's horseshit. it's seeing what you want to see, instead of what is actually there. because it's actually a piece for their actual hobbyhorse, "someone was taken off of a project that later wound up under the FRAF label", all the important parts can be abstracted away. the truth itself becomes a malleable thing that can be manipulated through omission and reframing.

The creator of the Unofficial Homestuck Collection made a post on his website alleging that the UHSC was taken down due to legal disputes with Hussie and the Homestuck team, and accusing Hussie/Homestuck of various abuses behind the scenes.

Do not mistake this for any kind of comprehensive official document. This is a Callout Post. It practically calls itself one. Particularly, this is a Transmisogynistic Smear Campaign against Hussie, who has been openly identifying as a Nonbinary/Clowngender Person with Any Pronouns for several years now.

There is not a single piece of evidence in this post. The Discord "screenshots" are HTML/CSS recreations. Gio spends 90% of the damn thing doing a whole lot of name-calling, randomly absolving himself of blame, posting memes? and Deltarune references? for some reason?, straight up posting social hit lists, and misgendering Hussie, and holy shit do I mean misgendering Hussie CONSTANTLY, down to insisting that Hussie is a man throughout. [REAL TIME EDIT: Gio is fixing the Misgendering! But only using They/Them pronouns. GREAT.]

Similarly, there was a weird as fuck Anti-Semitic remark just, casually thrown in, and then casually erased. This isn't even the first time Gio's done a Transmisogynistic Harassment Campaign.

What makes this all fucking ridiculous, is that the UHSC isn't even down. The Official Mirror of it is still up. You wanna know where it isn't up? Gio's site. You wanna know what Gio's site looks like? This.

I haven’t seen much about the recent news, but from what I’ve seen I’ll say that a lot of it does seem to be personal attacks towards Hussie. Like I’m sure there’s some aspects of the dealing that she didn’t handle as well as she could’ve but 90% of that statement seems to be calling her manipulative or a bully of w/e else, and I’m sure she would’ve had trouble having civil discussions with someone that clearly has so much vitriol towards her. As if you can’t just say anything you want about them, and have everyone instantly believe you because of “he’s already bad enough as it is”-type logic? The only times people have given Hussie undue grace is in areas where legitimate criticisms are to be raised - particularly, it’s impossible to bring up the Racism in Homestuck without someone coming to bat for Hussie. It is in that department, and absolutely zero others, in which people give Hussie more grace than necessary, and that’s not because of Hussie’s “mythological status”, it’s because this fandom openly hates BIPOC and will ally with anyone if it means chasing more of them out.

We have known for ages now that Hussie is a nightmare to work with. I’m not disputing the idea that there’s potentially been rampant maltreatment and unprofessionalism behind the scenes, I’m just pointing out that it also exists within the callout post, it has zero actual evidence in it, and I do not think we should take this as a good faith recounting of events.
