Only One Cricketer In The Top 10 Instagram Sports’ Rich List 2019
The Indian captain Virat Kohli has become the only Indian sportsperson and the only cricketer to feature in top 10 Instagram sports’ rich list. For the second year running, the Football star Cristiano Ronaldo has clinched the top spot as he earns a whopping £784,000 (Rs 6.74 crore) for one post on Instagram and is way ahead of the Brazil footballer Neymar who is at the second place.
Virat Kohli, however, has grabbed the ninth place in the list and interestingly, the other eight athletes in the top 10 are football players with the other one being a Basketball player. Kohli’s fan following is immense and boasts of a massive 36 million followers on Instagram and when it comes to Facebook and Twitter, the number of followers go beyond a stunning 100 million. But the football players have many more followers, especially on Instagram and those players have leapt ahead of him in the list.
How much Kohli earns?
According to the data provided by Hopper HQ, Virat Kohli earns a staggering £158,000 (Rs 1.35 crore) for his every Instagram post. No other cricketer is close to him at least as far as the list released in concerned and Kohli’s fan following is only going to increase. It shouldn’t be a surprise if the 30-year-old climbs close to the top spot in the next couple of years.
Argentine footballer and the global superstar Lionel Messi is at the third place in the charts. He has 123 million followers on the popular social media website and charges £521,000 for every post. Ronaldo, Neymar and Messi are the only three sportspersons with more than 100 million followers on Instagram as the next best is David Beckham with 57 million followers.
LeBron James, the Basketball player, is the only other sportsperson apart from Virat Kohli who belongs to the sport other than Football in this list. He boasts of 50 million followers and stands fifth in the charts.

Yuvraj Singh Promises Six Feast in Global T20 Canada
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is all set to play for Toronto Nationals in the 2nd edition of six-team Global T20 Canada to be held in Brampton from July 15. The World Cup-winning all-rounder was picked by Toronto Nationals as its marquee player in Thursday's player draft.
Yuvraj had announced retirement in June in a bid to ply his trade in franchise-based T20 leagues across the globe. Notably, the all-rounder had written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking permission to play in overseas T20 tournaments.
"He wrote to the board yesterday. I don't see an issue in him getting the nod to play in overseas leagues now that he has retired from international cricket and IPL," a BCCI source had told the PTI.
Yuvraj had said that he wanted to play some "fun cricket" in the near future when he announced his retirement. "I want to play T20 cricket. At this age, I can manage to play some kind of fun cricket. I want to go and enjoy my life."
Yuvraj will be joined by some big names from world cricket, including New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, Andre Russell, Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Shakib Al Hasan, Sunil Narine, Faf du Plessis among others.
Yuvraj will share the dressing room with India pacer Manpreet Gony, Brendon McCullum and Kieron Pollard at Toronto Nationals
