Where On Earth Gumdrop Has Been

Hello and welcome to what feels like a yearly post on my whereabouts.

very sad tea below (there are going to be so many rant posts in the next two weeks, sorry for the crowd just here for cc. please disregard lol)

One minute they were here happily feeding you Halloween content with more around the corner and the next... silence.

It's a tradition at this point. But this year was more than burnout crashing me out. 

Was a big part of it that? Yes! I took on too much work, and then my area had back-to-back natural disasters in one awful month. I was stretched thin emotionally, my friends were in precarious positions, and everything in life had a too-muchness to it. Eventually, I pulled it together a bit and planned to post belated Halloween content in November. I had a bunch in the drafts, in various states of completion. And I was travelling for the holidays, so I got everything set up for the away time, prepped to fly:

and in rapid succession, life got real again.

The first and least stressful part (but still awful) - my beloved little furry friend lost sight in one of his eyes. I took him into the vet to get a wellness check before crossing state lines to see family, and what should have been twenty five dollars and fifteen minutes turned into like seven hundred, a panoply of bloodwork and tests, and the news that he couldn't see on his left side. It was a punch in the gut, honestly. This stupid little five pound mutt has become... the whole of my world? The sun around which I revolve? I was pretty torn up about it, I cannot lie to you. 

And then we took the trip (with me constantly stressed for his health). I was there with family at last. Really rattled, but present (at least physically). There was like. No service (my folks live in mountain country), so I was starting to feel a bit as though sims was a project to be completed in December, when I was safely home. 

Thanksgiving happened. But there was something in the air the whole time. Everyone around me was happy... but one of my family members was stressed. He couldn't get in touch with a sibling (one of my favorite relatives). I had this. Horrible knowing. We both did.

She had probably passed that day. We don't actually have the date because she was alone at home. We found out the next day via a wellness check. 

You sort of don't expect to be the person who loses a favorite person on a holiday until you are the person losing them, you know? Like. Everyone says it's statistically likely but no one thinks it will be YOUR life, YOUR person.

I had to stay an extra month to help. The house was not in good condition. And like... I won't air my family's dirty laundry, but let's just say. There's a lot of stress, and infighting, and heartbreak. I wish grief wasn't such a hydra, you know?

I made it back home just before Christmas and I wanted to get back to the sims. I had advent ideas and all the stuff I wanted to complete (and a big desire to just feel normal again)... and then I opened up to the last post I had nearly ready to post.

It was a Life and Death bed frame.

I just sort of... fractured. I don't know how else to describe it. My brain just split down the center. I couldn't do it. I still can't touch it. It's embarrassing because as many of you are aware, I am a whole adult. A gothic bed frame should not be a thing that takes me out. But it still kind of is? I'm working on it.

Basically, I don't know when I'm going to get back to the mods wip list, or active posting. I've been working on a cc sorting project that I should be able to tell you is live in a few days, so that's something. I'm really blessed that no one is tipping in the patreon right now because I think the guilt would eat me up, so small miracles in relative obscurity haha! But I'm sad that my grief is making me avoid a project that I genuinely enjoy so much.

If I manage to get beyond it and actually finish those posts, could you cheer me on a bit? Just like, with a comment or dm or something. I feel like it'll be a big hurdle for only my heart, and it would be nice if I knew someone else felt the effort. But truly don't share lol I really don't want to engagement farm with something like this. I don't want to engagement farm at all. You know what I mean. 😅

At this point, Life and Death is old news, so I can be more active commenting in the feed at least. And time will continue to make this better so I can get back to the good stuff. In the meantime - and I say this because my heart needs to say it - 

I am genuinely so blessed that your life has touched mine. The world has reminded me (albeit with a two-by-four) that life is precious and fleeting, that good and bad come in equal measure. You are one of the bright points of my life. Reading your stories, seeing your creations, being inspired by people like you are the reason my heart is light when I think of others in a world and country that so often tries to convince me of the reverse. It is because of you that I know how very lovely humans have the potential to be. You have brought me hope in our mutual futures, and I hope, in various times and measures, I can be that for you.  Even if this is just a video game. 💕

I just saved four hundred dollars a month by taking the time to research my meds and supplements again. Different pharmacies negotiate with insurance at different rates. Certain suppliers carry products in large enough quantities to lower the price per bottle. You can get the same results without the enormous cost (or less of it).

The price reduction is worth the time to research!!! And don’t just research once!!! At the very least, do it yearly!!
