HOW TO PUT ON A DIAPER

This may seem like an easy thing to do in theory, but in practise most people find it quite difficult. Many ABDLs have had to endure a wonky diaper or a diaper where the tapes have been put in the wrong position or overstretched, and any of these situations can be extremely uncomfortable and might even result in leaks.

The 3 items you need are fresh diaper, talcum/baby powder, wet wipes.

Lay out a long towel or changing mat on the ground.

Have them lay down on the change mat, on their back.

Remove their pants/shorts.

If they’re wearing a diaper, untape it gently.

Use wipes on the entire diaper area. If they’re male and have a foreskin, remember to pull that back and wipe there too. If they’re female, remember to always wipe away from the vagina. Drop any used wipes on the front of the diaper.

When they’re all cleaned up, pull the diaper out from underneath them you may need to ask them to raise their bottom if you aren’t strong enough to grab their legs and lift them

Roll up the used diaper and tape it closed so it won’t unravel itself again.

Take the fresh diaper, and fluff it up. All manufactured diapers have been machine pressed to reduce the space they take up. Fluffing the diaper up undoes this process and makes the diaper more comfortable for the wearer.

Ask them to spread their legs apart slightly and raise their bottom again. They should be in a kind of crab-like position. Place the back end of the diaper underneath them. The back end of the diaper is the one that has the tapes on it.

Ask them to go down again. Line the top tapes up with their stomach to ensure that you have both wings of the diaper at even length ensuring that the person is laying exactly in the centre of the diaper

Bring the front of the diaper up to their stomach, lining it up straight and ensuring it’s centered. Hold it down with your forearm while you grab the first wing.

Grab the bottom tape on the left-hand wing. Untape it and bring it across to the front of the diaper. This tape should be stuck down just above the leg, as close to the front padding of the diaper as you can get it.

Do the same for the tape on the bottom-right hand wing. This tape should end up in exactly the same place as the previous tape, but of course on the opposite leg.

Once you’ve taped the bottom tapes, re-adjust the diaper but not the tapes so it’s comfortable and not too tight around the bottom. Doing this part ensures you get a snug fit around the middle whilst keeping the padding of the diaper comfortable.

Affix the top tapes to the diaper, placing them just below the top waistband of the diaper and as far across the padding as they’ll easily go without stretching or pulling on them. Remember that diapers get heavy when they get wet, and it’s usually the top tapes’ job to ensure the diaper doesn’t sag too much. This is why they should be snug, because they will loosen over time.

Once done, stick your fingers in the legs around the bottom and run your fingers through to the front, ensuring the standing leg guards on the inside of the diaper are indeed standing up and that the diaper is comfortable on your little one
