There are two things that I usually seem thrilled about whenever I go for my placement.
First is the opportunity to wear a uniform that makes me feel confident and professional. Whenever I wear it, I feel more responsible for my words and actions during the placement to the extent that it makes me feel as if I am an actual employee of Cathay Pacific and not just a student completing her hours. Every time I see myself in the uniform, it just makes me feel proud of myself for making my colleagues feel like I am somewhat deserving of wearing their identity which is why they let me wear it to represent the airline’s legacy.
Second thing that thrills me at placement is the aircraft itself as every time I see it, I get goosebumps by just thinking that I am in some way responsible for why passengers were able to board the aircraft without any issues concerning their documentation or other immigration aspects. One time when I was leaving the airport and heading home, I was able to witness the moment that the flight CX805 got airborne that day and it was a something that made me appreciate the experience overall.
To conclude, with the help of nice passengers and interactions with them, the friendliness of the staff, the professional yet fun elements of the airline, and even the friends that I made during the placement, I can surely say that this is an experience that I’m going to cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you Cathay Pacific for making me grow myself professionally and personally with you♥️.

Assisting passengers feels really good as I get to see a smile on their face with how we tend to provide service as an airline. However, it even feels better to assist passengers to the lounge as I get the chance to see the lounge and be mesmerized with the way Cathay treats its VIP passengers.
Yesterday, there was this elderly Chinese couple who were confused about the lounge invitation pass and they approached me to help them figure it out. It seemed like they were unaware of the benefits they have with them having access to the lounge. So I led them to the lounge and told them that this is an exclusive area for people traveling in business class as they were also business class passengers.
After I dropped them off, they were very pleased and thankful for the help they got from me and were able to enjoy their exclusive perks of traveling in business class with Cathay Pacific.

Doing arrivals has its own perks. For me, I got to page for inbound passengers using the pager for further document check. Though I was nervous at first in terms of mispronouncing their names or not having the proper tone for paging, I was still able to call for passengers and helped the staff in conducting their duties. Moreover, while I was paging for passengers, I could feel myself doing this on a daily basis without being hesitant or nervous just like during my first time. With all the amazing things I got to experience all thanks to Cathay Pacific, this is also one of them.

After since I got my RAIC, I have always been a gate person as I get to sense the whiff of a flying rush within me just when I look at the aircraft close by. The moment itself makes me want to pursue more into being a career-oriented individual in the aviation industry in a way that I can see myself enjoying every moment of it without any regrets.Bring able to go to the gates and help the agents of Cathay is truly an opportunity of a lifetime.
Another fun part of doing gates is when I get to do with some of my favorite colleagues as we tend to do the divide and conquer type of method when it comes to handling customers during boarding.

Since I have started my placement at Cathay, I am able to grow some sort of attachment to planes, passengers, and the aviation industry as a whole.
This experience actually allows me to live a life of a moment wherein I feel I control my own wings in life and by being able to witness the smile or gratefulness that passengers have when helping them out is just the thing that makes my day even greater aside from the fact that I am blessed enough to be with Cathay for my learning experience.
One passenger even asked me for my name so that she can put a good review about my service and that moment made me feel so proud and accomplished of my self that it made me want to keep pushing myself to do more when it comes to customer service.
Moreover, for the first time, I sat in the business class seat without having to pay for it😂😂, which felt like a privilege worth working for.

On thanksgiving day, our day flight got delayed for almost three hours and me and Ashley, another seneca student, stayed until the operations were done for the day.
We also got to celebrate thanksgiving with a premium economy meal provided by Cathay and felt that the delay was somehow worth it because of it.
While waiting for the flight to be ready to go, we got to serve snacks to fellow passengers and answered their concerns regarding their connecting flights.
It was a very fulfilling day and it felt good to be part of it.

Hooray for the Cathay uniform days❤️❤️❤️
After some weeks, I finally got to wear my Cathay Pacific uniform, which was one of the reasons why I chose Cathay for my placement and so far, I love the feel of it❤️❤️. I even got a compliment from an airport employee saying that it suited well on me.
With the uniform, I felt responsible for Cathay’s image and how I showcase their integrity when it comes to providing service to passengers. I also felt like I belonged in the airline itself and wanted to pursue more of the experience in connection with them.

The day I got my RAIC
It was the 19th of September when I got my temporary RAIC and was able to assist the Cathay Pacific agents at the gates during arrival and departure. I got to stamp boarding passes of passengers before they boarded the aircraft and even looked for missing passengers.
Being so close to the aircraft without the need of a ticket/boarding pass or passport felt like a privilege as I got to explore the bridge to the aircraft not as a passenger but as an agent even though it was just for training purposes.
The opportunity to be able to observe such enthusiastic agents was indeed inspiring as it sparked my interest in aviation more compared to before.

Another day with Cathay!
With the few days I have already spent with Cathay, it pushes me to love aviation more as it is more than just flying or serving passengers. With all the responsibility that comes along while representing a huge airline might feel overwhelming however, with the training or assistance that we receive from staff makes it possible for us to understand the core duties and goals when it comes to working with Cathay.
while our counter being on a window side, the sights that we get to see of planes and other ground personnels just sparks this interest we have in aviation on a more tangible level, making us feel like we are unstoppable from pursuing a dream of a long time.

A day made memorable by Cathay!
Excited me was looking forward to that moment wherein I could see cathay on a personal level in a way that it felt like I belonged here.
During the first day, which was an orientation, we got to learn about certain tasks that we had to do on a daily basis. We got to meet some staff, got to explore areas at the airport that were essential for our future career, and were able to imagine ourselves as someone starting and ending our day with the aviation industry. We also got souvenirs from Cathay that will play a huge part in the future by allowing us to remember this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Indeed, it was a great beginning to grow for aviation with Cathay.
