the desert . an empty ... desolate place . zadie was used to infinite sand , having lived on the planet mars for all of her life ... she wasn’t expecting anything else . well -- actually , that was a lie .

old her stories of earth ... it’s big beautiful blue vasts of water -- better called oceans . the forests full of trees . hills rolled with grass . that was the earth that she had expected to see ... not more desert .

though there was some green ... she didn’t know what it was . she tried to touch it , but it ended up pricking her finger , as well as pricking tears in her eyes from the pain . she just wanted to see , to touch . and then it hurt her ... she didn’t understand ... why everything had to hurt her .

and so she continued to walk , alone ... hoping that eventually someone would find her .

the small girl quickly scampers behind the other , practically trembling . she didn’t like feeling afraid ... how her heart beats rapidly , her legs feeling like they would collapse at any minute . it was something she had dealt with her entire life - & yet she still hasn’t gotten used to it . oh , how she longed for the feeling of safety . her possibly new friend , though , did help quite a lot ...
