I keep seeing people responding to the executive order Trump signed defining biological sex as being fixed at conception, and everyone's making the same joke that it means all Americans are women now because all embryos develop as female at first (hence male nipples).

However, since the order declared biological sex to be based on what gametes (sex cells i.e. sperm or egg) one produces, then that obviously means that no one has a biological sex since no one produces gametes at conception. Congrats Trump! Everyone's non-binary now.

Trump has ordered the FDA, CDC and NIH to "pause communications with the public" until February 1st, with includes new regulations, announcements, press, we posts and more until they are "approved by a political appointee". Please keep your eyes on this. Trump is about to fuck up FDA shit again and we may potentially see a radical change in regulations on our health and food.

Some in my circle were talking about subscribing to European FDA communications and only taking medications and advice vetted in Europe until then or for the foreseeable future.

Led by researchers from the University of Texas at Austin, the team behind the study analyzed 471 lake microbe samples collected across 20 years, looking at genetic variations within and between species through time. The data showed thousands of bacteria species evolving through the generations, then evolving back to a virtually identical state as the seasons shifted. As microbes live just a few days, we're talking about genetic evolution crossing thousands of generations within the span of one year.
