hello again (bill clinton limewire voice) my fellow americans
There are a few states that actually have Shield/Refuge laws designed to help trans people fleeing from trans-unsafe states, which also guarantee trans folks access to healthcare. These states are:
California
Colorado
Illinois
Oregon
Vermont
Washington
Minnesota
New Mexico
Maine
Massachusetts
Rhode Island
Connecticut
Washington D.C.
Additionally, some states have "trans sanctuary" executive orders signifying safety for trans folks seeking healthcare. These states are:
Maryland
New Jersey
New York
Living as a resident in these states means you are protected by state's rights and state government to continue or begin receiving trans healthcare. These laws have been codified in their states so everything has been a-ok'd by their state governments.
Stay alive. You got this. I love you.

attention oklahomans!
i know things are royally fucked for us pretty much 24/7, but i wanted to highlight an organization that does important work for reproductive health here in oklahoma: take control initiative.
TCI is focused in tulsa county and their mission is to provide members of the community with free and accessible birth control. if you live in or near tulsa county, or are able to make the trip, they can help you access all forms of birth control, and you can also volunteer with them!
if you are an oklahoma resident not located near tulsa county and you are unable to make the trip, they can still help you! TCI will mail you one free morning-after pill kit that includes a morning after pill, two pregnancy tests, 6 condoms, and 2 packets of lube. the package is totally free and discreet. the morning-after pill has a shelf life of four years, so you can save it if need be.
even if you're not from oklahoma, please share this so that oklahomans will see it!

Hey. Listen. Because someone just caught me with this:
If you find yourself shaking and feeling cold, you may be feeling the effects of mild shock. Please get yourself something warm to drink, wrap yourself in a blanket, and watch comforting TV or play some Tetris, okay?
I'm serious. A friend reached out and asked if I was shaking, and i realized that I was and had been for like ten minutes. I have a warm drink and I'm going to watch Star Wars.
Take care of yourself.

I know a company that does both these things and no surprise, when you shop there, the employees are always miserable and agitated. You should kill your managers in such situations imo. The only reason I receive treatment slightly above this is i'm lucky enough to have managers who are also bothered by these business practices. The water one is especially bad if you have heat intolerance, I was so sick regularly before I switched to a department with more leniency regarding water.
Depending on where you live these things may violate labor laws though so if you're in the same situation look into it. However in my experience any labor law violations happen without consequence regardless

Has anything actually gotten better, for all the work you talk about doing? Or is it just treading water in misery forever?
Anon, ten years ago gay people couldn't get married in large parts of the US. AIDS was an almost certain death sentence when I was in high school. I was looking at job boards the other day and found a part time gas station job that had health insurance as a benefit, which NEVER would have happened 15 years ago. When I was a kid, hitting your child was extremely normalized in the US and my parents were the weird ones for not doing it. There is a vaccine for chicken pox. I didn't meet anyone who had transitioned until my 20s because it was so uncommon to transition in the aughts, and now there are some states that protect your right to have gender affirming care provided by your health insurance. It's not all states, but it's better than the number of states that had it in 2010, which was zero. THERE ARE TENANTS UNIONS NOW. WE HAVE A VACCINE AGAINST CERVICAL CANCER.
And all of that has been the work of a lot of individuals and organizations and research teams and activists.

There are still millions of uncounted ballots, mainly mail-in ones, so please check on yours. Do not trust that you will be contacted first, especially if you live in a very red area (mail-in voters lean heavily blue), and just make the call to your county clerk now.

Before January 2025:
If you are a USAmerican in a relationship that might be affected by legislation that dissolves same-sex marriages, who may no longer be recognized as next-of-kin, especially if you have children, get your rights in writing!
Your marriage certificate may not be enough to prove you have rights to make medical decisions for non-biological children or for a same-sex spouse or partner.
Go to a lawyer, get it spelled out as clearly as possible that you have a voice in emergency medical and legal situations.
