Ever since Lúthien became a mortal, Thingol was haunted by the knowledge that one day, he would outlive his own daughter.

No doubt, it hurt him to see Lúthien and Beren visibly aging, knowing that they would soon leave the Circles of the World, and that he would never see them again.

Thingol was definitely preparing himself mentally for the news of their inevitable deaths one day.

And yet, ironically, Lúthien and Beren ultimately outlived him.

I wonder about his final moments, as he bled out on the ground, as the Dwarves descended upon his people.

I wonder if Thingol ever found some comfort in the realization that at least he wouldn’t live to see his own daughter die.

Thingol cupped her cheek. "Dear heart." He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "No. There are dangerous things out there."

Thingol had a daughter with moods that could change as fast as an autumn day, Curufin didn't bother him. "Yes. It is. I find it even more pleasant with all that snow out there."

Something felt off though... "Aren't there two of you?" He always assumed one was watching the other but he hadn't figured out which one was the responsible one.

Thingol's eyes narrowed. That was silly, Feanor would drop anything to talk to him. Naturally. So this poor thing must be feeling neglected. "Come along then," he held out his hand, "We'll set another place at the table."
