BOMBTRACK AT THE TORINO-NICE RALLY 2016 from Bombtrack Bicycle Co. on Vimeo.
The “Torino – Nice Rally” is not a race, it is rather food for your soul: an adventure with friends and a memorable experience. 700km on old military cols and scenic historical trade routes leading all the way from the western Italian Alpes down to the coast of southern France.
In 2016 our ambassador JOACHIM ROSENLUND took part in the rally (on his HOOK EXT) and experienced some truly incredible unsupported bikepacking. The backdrop of Europe's highest mountains never cease to take our breath away, but we couldn’t prepare ourselves for quite how spectacular his journey would be.
As an event in-between all Joachim’s annual long-distance competitions the "Torino-Nice Rally" seemed to be the perfect 'recovery’ ride, without pressure, and ‘only' 20,000m of elevation. The rally made such an impression on him that he’s already signed up for the 2017 edition again….to see what exactly brought him back for a repeat visit check out the video, and if you’re tempted to ride it yourself be sure to say ”Hi” to him in Turin.

MASTER OF CAMERA from David Drills on Vimeo.
Gian Luigi Carminati is a passionate and poetic 76 years old man who spent his entire life repairing cameras. In his small workshop in Milan he takes care of old cameras with just a set of screwdrivers and a lot of patience. We spotted his workshop randomly, we just passed by his shop and we got curious since we saw so many old cameras on display.
We got the chance to spend some time with him and he was happy to share with us topics like why the analog is still better than the digital, his 60 years old long relationship with photography and how technology shaped the approach to this art. Gian Luigi was happy to share with us lots of memories about his life and his job. We got immediately fascinated by his words and we decided to make a video with a ‘poetic touch’, that is keeping the poetry of his words and shop intact.
His analog way of life is so inspiring. He doesn’t have a website, doesn’t use a mobile phone, his store doesn’t have a proper sign and he’s never advertised his activity. His only advertising is the word of mouth. And his business is very solid.
Thanks to him we have realized that living the analog way is much easer than we think. And, with no doubt, it is the key to happiness. His work is very difficult and there is no software, no internet page, no company training that can give to an individual such an expertise as Gian Luigi’s. This is not a job: it is a passion that changes a man’s life and gives him a lot of joy even by mentioning it. We love capturing this sort of spirit and we felt that Gian Luigi has inspired us in so many ways.
We were deeply touched by these thoughts about photography coming from a self described ‘technician’ instead of a photographer. With this two minutes video we had the ambition to tell his life through his memories.

The Benchmark from Salsa Cycles on Vimeo.
In June of 2014, Jay and Tracey Petervary were invited to come to Italy to set a benchmark time for a new bikepacking ultra; the Liguria MTN Divide. The route would follow the course used by the 8-day Alta Via MTB Stage Race. They would, however, attempt to ride the route as quickly as possible in a true unsupported fashion. A challenge had been presented.

Double Vision from Kona Bikes on Vimeo.
Rise and shine sleepy heads. It’s time to grab your new carbon Hei Hei and ride. But what side of the bed will you get up on? Possibly you’re like ‘Race Spencer’ who is awake before the alarm even goes off on Race day and enjoys a well-balanced breakfast that will help propel him on his new Carbon Hei Hei Race DL from the start line to the finish. Or maybe you’re more of a ‘Trail Spencer’ who slept in a little, loaded up on Bacon, flashed a little steez on a new all-carbon Hei Hei DL and is looking for Instagram likes while enjoying a post-ride parking lot beer. Take another look, the versatile Carbon Hei Hei platform is built for whatever your style, or your ride has in store.

Frank and the Tower from Recreational Equipment Inc. on Vimeo.
The first time REI member Frank Sanders saw Devils Tower was in the sudden brilliance of a lightning strike. It sent a wave of anxiety through him, but the next day he climbed The Tower. Forty three years later, he’s repeated that act more than 2,000 times and learned a thing or two about about going up and not growing old.

MOVE from ARC'TERYX on Vimeo.
arcteryx.com/Athlete.aspx?EN/WillGadd
Inspired by a blogpost written by Gadd: willgadd.com/breathe-avoid-mcdonalds/
"We all try to be busy instead of being alive, busy instead of getting out and breathing, busy sending useless texts instead of walking in the woods with our kids or introducing them to life's joys. We move information instead of simply moving," says Arc'teryx athlete Will Gadd in this ode to action and movement.
Acknowledging how hard it is to carve out time for exercise in our daily lives, Gadd's passionate words remind us how important it is to get outside, breathe hard, and create meaning through movement. After all, as Gadd says, "Life's more fun when you move."
