A friend who knows very much more about manga than I do recommended a series to try called Witch Hat Atelier, and that was a home run call. It uses witchcraft as an analogy for the love and discipline of drawing. It's clever and cute. I have only read the first volume, and I had to draw the flying spell. I hope to read more as soon as I can.

I was part of a jury for a case involving assault, and, when we were deliberating, there was a question of what the charge actually described. We asked the judge, and he said that was the responsibility of the attorneys. We couldn't ask them. We had to decide if someone was guilty of a law that wasn't defined for us. We found him guilty based on the circumstances of the arrest, which the defense didn't contest. But we might have been wrong. I think we did exactly what the prosecutor hoped for and the defense attorney failed to prevent.
