The bad luck had already happened, and now she was jaded? “Well, it’s not like I can’t relate. I don’t really have time for it myself, and I’m not the kind of woman that girls fall for.” Unless they wanted to be with someone who cared too much about her work and was always starving herself half to death?

“A goddess? So you must be like an adepti, huh…? Well, that’s fine.” It wasn’t like she wasn’t impressed, it just wasn’t all that surprising. “Do you drink coffee? Tea? Hot chocolate? There’s a cafe down the street, wanna come?”

             I   can imagine why, she nearly retorts, but thankfully the girl continues on without missing a beat. Ishtar has no idea what an adepti is, but she’s well aware that deities have all sorts of different names... So long as they understand the gravity of who they’re speaking to, that’s good enough. 

             Well... That, and the offer of gifts in the form of cafe drinks. That’s what she’ll call it, at least.

She was a little cold, but she’d survived in worse conditions. “It gets cold in the winter, you’ll have to find something that will do, yeah? Honestly, girls like you who are a little pretty get so uppity about things like this. You’ll have bad luck in dating, you know?”

             IN   true Ishtar fashion, she latched onto one phrase in particular with laser focus.  ❛   Dating ?  Been there, done that━ not worth it !  Single and loving it and perfectly warm in what I’m wearing, thanks very much !  Goddesses don’t feel cold like the rest of you humans do, you know, but we’re allowed to complain when the heavens don’t cooperate !!   ❜   Especially when you’re supposed to hold dominion over said heavens. Not that she’d tell this human that just yet; odds were they’d have something uppity to say about that next if she did.

With a trademark flip of her hair over the shoulder, she adds for good measure,  ❛   Not that I’d expect you to understand, by the looks of it, but not just any old piece of clothing will do. In the meantime, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for the weather to make sense.   ❜

“That a small chill would have you throw such a fit…how embarrassing.” For obvious reasons, Ereshkigal has to chime in, it wouldn’t be right if she didn’t. There’s also that casual sisterly banter that’s much needed.

“Though I suppose it is to be expected from such a spoiled Goddess.”

           ❛   Who’s throwing a fit ? Not me !  I’m just pointing it out, no more or less !   ❜   SHE   won’t admit it, but of all people to respond, Ereshkigal was preferred. It saves Ishtar the trouble of making sure she was still around herself.

           ❛   Then again, how could I expect you to understand ?  Your Underworld has always been cold enough to turn coal into diamonds.   ❜   What an attractive analogy... Her grumbling is momentarily buoyed by the idle thought of how many diamonds and precious jewels must be in that dreaded King’s treasury...

Medb scoffed, a sneer already forming on her lips as she glared down at the other Servant. Their temperaments were similar, so perhaps a meeting like this was inevitable– that is, the two of them standing atop a building in Fibonacci, where a map lay in wait.

“If you can’t fly, then why should I help you?”

“These wings are mine, and I’ll be using them to search for as much treasure as I want. I don’t have to do anything for you.”

                HER   hands are balled into tight fists as they rest on her hips, leveling the Rider with her stare— a move she feels must be effective despite only having a couple of inches on her fellow Servant. Petite they both may be, but their voices projected as if they were seven feet tall. Ishtar’s whine in particular. 

             ❛   I’m the exact type of Goddess someone like you might want to cash in a favor with later, you know !  Are you really so dense you’d look a gift horse in the mouth ??   ❜

It reminds her all too well of Uruk... After the pestilence and famine the ‘old Ishtar’ once inflicted. And again after, years later, Tiamat had wreaked far more devastation than anyone could have imagined — human or otherwise. That had been a much slower increase in population... So slow that Uruk could hardly be called Uruk any longer. 

        ❛   Humans never do waste time forming groups for survival, do you ? A good quality to have, I guess. What happens when we’re booted back to the main island, though ?  Doesn’t it strike you a little...   ❜   Pointless — pointless is the word she’s looking for.

            WAS   this really happening ?  Was she really seeing this right ? Because she could be wrong ( not that she’s ever been wrong before ), but it most certainly looks like that woman’s strong-arming her way to a fresh pork dinner. If it were your average pig that would be one thing, but it’s a boar; one gleaming tusk is half that woman’s height !  ... At least, it seemed to be. It was a little hard to tell with the boar defying physics like that.

              NOT   that it made much difference to her, of course — only an observation !  She rests her hands on her hips, bending at the waist to observe the steep drop while otherwise unbothered by the current lapping about her calves. The water wasn’t even frigid, either, nor too hot... This really was the perfect vacation, lack of shelter aside ! 

          ❛   I wonder how steep this waterfall is... Having my vacation cut short by too harsh a fall would just be embarrassing.   ❜

ishtar is the local genius who immediately teleported to nommin isle thinking it would be a luxury without reading the fine print about having to find shelter and. you know. survive. so have fun with that ! uncapped !

           ❛   This has to be some sort of colossal joke... !   ❜   AND   someone, somewhere, was likely getting a good laugh. The Goddess of the Harvest, of beauty and fertility and a bunch of other glowing signs that practically scream ‘ good at surviving, thriving even ! ’... And yet here she is. Coming to terms with the fact that her shelter, albeit at least moderately sturdy ( considering the majority of it is woven together with palm fronds ), is... Downright hideous. 

               Ishtar considers herself fortunate indeed that a certain big-headed King isn’t here to witness this, but that’s the tiniest blip of comfort on her radar of woe. How can she, Ishtar, make something so aesthetically... Horrific ?  Something barely functional, so it can’t even be justified ?! 

         ❛   I can’t think of a single goddess that’s been punished by the universe as harshly as me. Usually unfairly, might I add !   ❜   She indeed adds, to no one in particular.
