Botanic Tournament : Honorary Mentions !
This is a bracket made with rejected submissions. Here they're legit.
Explanations here
Round 3 Poll 3
Explanations underneath
Leander was originally submitted because of the name's similarity with oleander
Camilla's a name meaning "young ceremony attendant". It's close phonologically to camellia but unrelated etymologically

On a complete whim I've decided to host a tournament for crown title of "most influential twink', with the candidates being chosen from a survey.
Please fill out the form with your candidate and share it around. The more candidates we get the more insane the eventual tournament bracket will be. (Depending on number of submissions it will likely be based on # of times submitted, with the funniest responses as Honorable Mentions)

Penny Poll 3rd Place Bracket
Penelope (The Odyssey)
Vs
Alfred Pennyworth (DC Comics)
Propaganda under the cut
Penelope (The Odyssey)
She waited about 20 years for her husband to come home she used her huge brain to keep the suitors away for ages I just think she's neat
——
She is LOYAL. She is SMART. She is HARDWORKING. She waited for TWENTY YEARS. Penelope is a QUEEN (literally). PENELOPE SWEEP
——
This woman was one who was waiting for her husband to come back from war. Her home was full of men who refused to leave, so she did the only thing in her power as a Greek woman and told them: "If my husband Odysseus doesn't come home from the Trojan war by the time I finish this blanket, I'll marry one of you." And she used TRICKERY which was LOOKED FONDLY UPON and was HEAVILY USED BY BOTH ATHENA AND HERMES. This woman called upon the power of Athena and Hermes to keep her marriage sacred which was SUPER important if someone didn't want to piss off Hera.
When she was setting up the trial, she did something only her HUSBAND could do with the 20 pound bow and commanded the fools to string it.
She's so full of tricks that I love her for it.
Alfred Pennyworth (DC Comics)
The most man of all time. He’s a father, he’s a butler, he’s the smartest guy there. Iconic!!
——
Honestly, wanted to make sure he made it in for the poll runner. But, he's badass, even if I don't typically go for DC characters.

✨Round 3: Match 2✨
Apollo Propaganda:
Greek god of music AND poetry aka bard qualifiers
God of music and the sparkliest thing out there: ✨the sun✨
Edgin Darvis Propaganda:
honestly he was barely a dnd bard cause he didn’t cast any spells but he sure did whack people with his lute. iconic tbh
GOTTA HIT THEM WITH A LUTE (I mean he's obviously a paladin/bard multiclass, but that still counts right?)
he is amazing. that’s all there is to say.

Fourth round, ninth fight
Quote number 144 :
There is a stranger outside your house. He is old, ragged, and dirty. He is tired. He has been wandering, homeless, for a long time, perhaps many years. Invite him inside. You do not know his name. He may be a thief. He may be a murderer. He may be a god. Do not ask questions. Wait. Let him sit on a comfortable chair and warm himself by your fire. Bring him some food, the best you have, and a cup of wine. Let him eat and drink until he is satisfied. Be patient. When he is finished, he will tell his story. Listen carefully. It may not be as you expect.
-Translator's note in Wilson's translation of the Odyssey
VS
Quote number 157 :
And he did not want to be loved as a second choice, as a surrender. He had spent his whole life not being loved at all, and he had thought being loved enough would satisfy him. It would not. He did not want to be loved enough. He wanted to be loved overwhelmingly. (...) He had never been chosen, so he had never had a chance to know this about himself before now: he wanted to be chosen first.

Note
Who would you say is the most obscure submission so far?
I feel like I'm maybe not the best person to judge the relative obscurity of gods, since I have brought up both Thetis and Amphitrite unprompted in conversation and just kind of expected the conversation partner to know who they were before realising my mistake, but let's see...
I have a few submissions for the Muses, who, while known in concept, aren't often known by name.
Mithras seems to be a Roman god, and before that Iranian, so further research will need to be done before determining whether he's allowed to compete.
Hygeia, Xanthe, Pheme, Lyssa, and this Chione specifically feel pretty obscure, but for some of them I feel like the name might be understandable if only through filtration.
Final answer the one person who submitted Hades.

srry if you're getting spammed with these "has x been submitted" questions but... how many people have submitted my babygirl hermaphroditus
This was asked on July 9 and for some reason I didn't see it all month -- it looks like just one person, but Hermaphroditus has been grandfathered in from being submitted last round, so technically two!
#not polls#asked and answered#I am so dizzy right now y'all#spent my day off at the county fair and i did not get dizzy on the rides.#but now i am not wearing my backpack as counterweight and i am whup whup
