Korean Swear Words

if you're a frequent k-drama watcher, then you probably know a thing or two about swearing in Korean. but it actually goes so much deeper than what is popularly known on the internet so here is a list of the more common Korean swears! obviously, this is just for funsies and you probably shouldn't be going around saying these words to people.

바보 (babo) - dummy, idiot, stupid

등신 (deungshin) - dumbass

병신 (byeongshin) - literally translates to "diseased body (病身)", and has a similar connotation to the English r-slur (but is very rarely used in that way)

씨발 (shibal) - fuck, comes from archaic verb 씹하다 shibhada (to have sex)

새끼 (saekki) - literally means "animal offspring" but is used as a swear in certain circumstances, it's also used affectionately when mothers refer to their children. you might hear a Korean mom say something like, "내 새끼~~" (nae saekki) which literally means "my babyyyy" in English.

개___ (gae___) - literally means "dog" but is used in front of other swear words to increase the severity and offensiveness

eg. 개새끼 (gae saekki) - son of a bitch

eg. 개씨발 (gae shibal) - FUUUUCCCCCK

닥쳐 (dakchyeo) - shut up

꺼져 (ggeo-jyeo) - fuck off

뒈지다 (dwejida) - to die and go to hell

놈/년 (nom/nyeon) - bastard/bitch, can also have other words in front of it to describe the person

eg. 미친놈/년 (michin nom/nyeon) - crazy bastard/bitch

eg. 썅놈/년 (shyang nom/nyeon) - fucking bastard/bitch

지랄 (jiral) - speaking nonsense/spouting bullshit

또라이 (ttorai) - a freak

엿 먹어 (yeot meogeo) - literally means "eat yeot" (a traditional Korean confectionary), it basically means "fuck you", "eat shit", etc

젠장 (jenjang) - interjection such as saying shit! fuck! damn it!

좆 (jot) - dick

보지 (boji) - pussy

촌놈 (chonnom) - country bumpkin

In addition to losing my mind over how Yuuji remembers them all smiling, there's something else in these panels that caught my eye:

They're all shown in the order of death—except Gojou and Chōsō, whose places are swapped.

Or are they?

This isn't about the objective order of death; it's how Yuuji perceived it. And Gojou still died before Chōsō, but he also came back—no, his body came back.

There's been a fair amount of discussion in the fandom, especially among us goyuu lot, about Yuuji's reaction to seeing Gojou's body and realizing it's Yuuta in truth. He didn't know about that plan; the cursed energy and appearance of a body possessed using Kenjaku's CT are an exact match to those of the host body, to the point that even the Six Eyes can't see through the possession.

When Yuuta first showed up in Gojou's body, Yuuji must have thought it's Gojou. They're sorcerers; stranger shit has happened. Yuuji himself has returned from death, and Gojou is Gojou—if anyone could defy death, it'd be him, wouldn't it?

Then Sukuna calls out Yuuta's name.

Do you think Gojou died again in Yuuji's mind at that moment of realization?

Fun fact: That bridge scene with Nue and Totality is the second last drawing to be finished. I deeply dislike the perspective and the bridge took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to search on Google Map lol

If this bridge is portrayed well in the anime, well... um. I still haven't finished Season 1, just so you know haha

Anyway, unexpectedly, I have lots of fun drawing the characters! Sure, some perspectives and angles are annoying to draw, but I found all of them fun to draw! Especially those adorned in black. I don't have to worry so much about the lines lmao

But of course, the best character to draw would be Gojou, both head and (later) his eldritch form. That little spotlight stealer. I love drawing his eyes and hair a bit too much haha

In second place, is our sunshine Yuuji! It's kinda weird talking about him when his spotlight would be in the next parts but haha lemme gush about how much fun I try to draw his eyes! His are extremely tricky. The thickness and the angle of the lines can really change his overall expression. It was a challenge, but one I enjoyed!

Third place for the characters I enjoy drawing would be Megumi and Mei-Mei, in a tie! Mostly because I love drawing Megumi's hair and Mei-Mei's eyes (part 3), but also because their outfits are just pure black lmao them designs help my hand a lot

Now, my least enjoyable draw would be the corpses in a later part. Too many limbs and blood and I can only use pure black to draw. Not fun at all. 0/10

The second least would be... Nanami. I'm so sorry. His outfit is pure white, and I suck at suits. Also his sunglasses(?) are unexpectedly really tricky. He's the character that constantly required me to pull up Google for images. His full body character sheet that I made was not enough at all lmao I still really enjoy pages of him without his glasses though!

Ok no third least favourite to draw because it's long already and you probably should head to another part or do your own thing.

Ah, yes. The fic that made me realise I’m in desperate need of Cursed Spirit Gojou in my ever-growing favourite GoYuu tropes.

Alrighty, I'll put my watered down unhinged thoughts below. No extra drawings down there if you're curious haha (unless you want to see the storyboard and the characters' full body character sheet, lemme know). You can skip the stuff underneath the Keep Reading for all parts.

This fic had me grinning from ear to ear every time I read this. The atmosphere, how it goes from POV to POV—of pure fear and panic—and the peak excitement I got when Yuuji properly meets Gojou, like brooooo 😭

Gosh I cannot emphasise how much I love this fic. I’ve always been wanting to make a whole comic out of it, especially since it was 2 chapters and it doesn’t look like the author will update it, but it just… kind of forgotten ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿

But then the author posted a new chapter and I told myself this is a sign I should really start.

also goddamn I was so naive to think I can tackle 2 chapters as comic—no I was in fact cannot

The moment I laid my eyes on the first paragraph, things were portrayed very vividly in my mind. The panel, the angle, Gojou's head rolling down... I was like, hell yeah. Then I continued reading and I finally succumbed to my desire to draw this out.

At first I want to adapt this into a vertical format like those manhwas. However the longer I try to learn and storyboard it... I am simply not yet comfortable with it, especially for such a big project. Even the 1st storyboard starts vaguely vertical before the panels quickly crammed into that B4-B5 format lol. The first sketch estimated 69 (heh) pages for 90% of chapter 1. I said "no" for my own sanity and fully focused on the usual manga format and it was narrowed down to 60. Still a lot though, quantity and time-wise. So with a heavy heart, I can only do the majority of chapter 1 :”) I really really want to draw Sukuna talks back to Gojou—do you have any idea how good that scene was??? Gojou tried so hard to restrain himself, he’s so other I love him 😭

Due to the sheer length of this comic (I'm still in disbelief), I have limit lots of things, and that includes the drawing. If you've seen my other JJK fanarts, they are more rendered than this one. Well, this one is purely sketched with the help of the eraser to tidy up some lines. This is also the first fanart that I did purely on Photoshop, so I can control the typesets and drawings in one place. Usually, I use Photoshop for panels and typesetting and Krita for drawing.

I don't really like Photoshop's brush, but it did really well in curbing my perfectionist tendencies, so that's good.

It's also been quite a while since I draw in general (sobs) so... yeah, you might find differences, or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

I know setting is important, but maaan I genuinely won't miss rereading chapter 83-93 with a heavy focus on background and character locations. I just want to read the action and dialogue😭 However continuity is really important. But my spatial intelligence is almost non-existent even GPS sometimes can't help me. All I'm saying is that if you find some silly drawing mistakes, do forgive me ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿I only drew all this in a week because otherwise I won't have another chance to complete this.

Well, lots of things I won't miss from this project, but haha let's talk about the characters instead because holy shit what was I thinking, starting this year drawing this many characters in the same project??? I have never drawn anyone here except for Yuuji, Gojou, Nanami and Megumi. I don't think I've ever drawn older Getou before. I already forgot how to draw my boy Yuuji and I gotta draw all these people???

This is what you call making a bad decision, kids. Don't do your "drawing warmup" after months of not drawing and tackling a project of a scale way bigger than you've ever tackled before.

Time travel? Two Gojou Satorus? Double affection for our sunshine Yuuji? Yuuji sandwich? What feels like possible continuation of (you'll whisper, serpent tongue) what you fear you have become???

I need to stop indulging my imagination too much. I should’ve been content with writing long-ass comments but noooooo, my brain goes “you gotta draw it”. DAMMIT VOX, YOU AND YOUR DELICIOUS WRITINGS HHHHHH

So… usually I should’ve picked a favourite scene that is within my drawing capability, but I just… love all three chapters??? So I made a questionable time investment? I can’t stop??? Help???

From here on, I will be referring to the Future!Gojou as Gojou and the teenage one as Satoru.

Overall, drawing all these is fun! Really fun! This project pushed me quite hard, forcing me to test my limit (because I rarely draw this much back to back). Since this is a combination of drawings and comics, the coloring style will not be consistent. In a way, I want to try some brushes I never get to use, as well as try out my new graphic tablet. Drawing these got me giggling because I was finally able to let loose during line art. It's much easier to do so, and sometimes I just get to reread the fic and giggle to myself for the nth time.

CHAPTER 1:

Whooo. Whooooooooo—

Ok, ok, the premise is just that good. It intrigued me, fascinated me, and I just… oomph. I cannot refuse a Time Travel Yuuji Sandwich. Sign me up.

Honestly, there are two scenes that are just… a bit too clear in my mind when reading this chapter. That would be the one I drew above, and the other is when Yaga called Gojou to come outside of the class. I love, loooove how Vox wrote Satoru’s POV. And when Yuuji fucking giggles?

I lost it.

Can you imagine, drawing Yuuji grins, with shiny stuff, maybe some sunlight, just purely happy and indulging Gojou?

Help me, for I am drowning in my love and adoration for Yuuji.

Page 2 is an experiment on using harsh black as shading (kind of?). I really enjoyed colouring Yuuji, and drawing those buffalo skulls! I wish I can grasp the concept of contrast a bit better tho :v

CHAPTER 2:

This is probably the only chapter where I picture still images instead of comic panels. A bit like those cool chapter covers in mangas. The one I really, really want to draw is the scene with Satoru on the table. Can’t pass the opportunity to highlight Satoru being a brat, albeit a really cool brat.

Cool idea drawing always proves to be a challenge, because of course my artistic skill just so happens to be below the requirement. Thank you, Sketchfab, for the chair and desk’s perspective otherwise I’m screwed lmao

The second scene that I want to draw the most is this:

Gojou is one step away from climbing Yuuji. Also, I have a bit of a problem picturing a man pouting that makes him look crazy instead, so please have Gojou pouting adorably instead. Because, as Yuuji said (with love), Gojou is (also) a brat.

This is possibly my favorite art in this project, after Yuuji's in Chapter 1 page 2. It's clean because I don't have to draw background, and I was having a fun time drawing Yuuji. And Gojou's squishy cheek as well.

Oh, actually, there is a “manga” scene in this chapter. It’s when Yuuji said, “I love Satoru.”

I just—

AAAAAHHHHH YUUJIIIIIII YOU AND VOX ARE GONNA BE THE DEATH OF ME. That secure relationship between Yuuji and Gojou? Satoru’s description of how Yuuji’s smile could blot out the sun??? Not me screaming 💀 I also see bits of hints of possible co-dependency, though I could be reading those wrong, but either way I’m good. Secure and possessive relationships are fun to consume hhhhhh

But yeah. There are too many wholesome Yuuji smiles in this fic, and I… I am not confident enough to draw genuine happiness. It’s too much for me ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿

For this chapter, another reason why I chose these two scenes is just because I want to try and draw cover-worthy pictures of Yuuji and Satoru, and Yuuji and Gojou (cough)

CHAPTER 3:

We start the chapter with Nanamin. Ah, Nanamin. I forgot what his teen self looked like and was surprised to see his design again lmao

I want to draw Yuuji and Nanami scene because… I just want to, I guess. I have never drawn him before (Yaga as well) so that's an interesting challenge. I got two ideas on how I want to draw it. One is a bit painting-esque, and the other one is like another chapter cover. In the end, I chose the cover one because I want to emphasise the difference between teen!Nanami and the Nanami from Yuuji’s original timeline, and how the watch feels like a connection between the same (yet not) person. It’s a bittersweet feeling? In a way?

AND FINALLY.

A Yuuji SandwichTM scene.

And oh B O I do I love it. Have I told you I like every chapter? I probably have. But this one? Satoru’s curiosity, Yuuji’s on-brand self-deprecation, and Gojou come strolling down to show more of Yuuji to his mini-self. I want to draw this whole scene, from Gojou finding them, feeding Yuuji snacks, bitch-slapping Satoru into the backroom, to Yuuji growling. Them trying to hide a boner from Yuuji’s growl got me cackling so hard I LOVE IT 😭

I love it all. Please love Yuuji in my stead, Satoru and Satonyan :3

Oh! Also! 40-finger Yuuji sounds really, really cool! I’ll be happy with whatever Vox will give us in future chapters, but 40-finger Yuuji… possible scene with this timeline’s Sukuna… my god. The action! The drama! The bloodshed! One can only hope.

However, as much as I love that whole scene, it’s still too much for me :”) I’m still not yet confident in delivering the humour and action. Also my already-long drawing plan had my brain groaning in protest so I can’t push my luck :'D

When Gojou said "He looks sweet, but he's a bit of a beast", I kept picturing Yuuji staring innocently, but there was an edge to his look. As if the moment Satoru looks away, he will pounce. But in the end I just stick with innocent-looking Yuuji because I accidentally drew his eyes that way and I want to keep it in lol

Since Satoru points out how soft and cuddly Yuuji is, I also want to draw soft Yuuji :v

And the last one… is the last scene. For some reason, I read that both Gojou and Satoru share Yuuji’s lap and was having a frustrating yet fun time figuring out how it’s… physically possible, without having their butts on the ground because they both are not small at all. As I lined the art, I reread it again and… perhaps I read it wrong? Satoru is beside Yuuji, and not on his lap? So yeah, this one might be the least accurate, but hey, at least you can view it as a crack drawing or something :v
