HEAL : for one muse to nurse the other back to health from a sickness or injury. ( Cordelia )
Grayson chuckled as he held his arm out for Corey to stitch the gash on the back of his shoulder. "You realize I'm a werewolf and I'm going to heal in a few minutes if you leave that alone, right?" he asked, teasing his wife and more than happy for her to stitch him up if it made her feel better about it. "I'm fine, Corey, I promise. I dont even feel it."

this is all i’ve ever been good at. (Camila)
Grayson understood, he knew Camila well - at least he thought he knew her well enough to offer her some advice like he would anyone who he cared about coming to him about feeling down on themselves. "That's not true, you have a lot of talents and skills. Don't get me wrong you're excellent at what you do, but there's a line between work and play, and you're good at both.Just give yourself the chance to enjoy it without thinking about having to be the best at it."

let me explain everything over dinner. (aria)
Grayson chuckled and shook his head, placing the take out they'd just picked up on the kitchen counter. "You know no matter how long you stall, the topic of Austin is still going to come up, right? I may be old, but I'm not about to forget my baby girl has got a guy following her around everywhere. It's the stuff of nightmares, and I thought I had longer before this all came up-- or I've been dreading this moment since the nurse put you in my arms the day you were born," he said, smiling at his daughter to make sure she knew he was joking around.

“I’ll never understand that,” she insisted. “If I was a parent I’d have run with them, not sent them away knowing you’d never see them again.” She’d mixed her own metaphors somewhere, but she thought the point would come across all the same. In the end all she knew was that his decision had cost her her father, and the two years they might have had. And she hated it.
“You better. You don’t get to come back from the freaking dead just to leave us behind again.” Despite the emotions of the moment she still couldn’t help being a smartass as he went on though. “I mean, some would argue I’ve never grown up, but I know what you mean. See how long I let my hair grow?”
.
“ I knew that if we all ran they would be hunting us down however long it took. Because I fought them and they were able to... get rid of me, you, your mother and your sister got away.” he said, though he could see how much pain it caused his daughter and he hated that he’d been the cause of that. “That doesn’t mean I’m not sorry though. I am so sorry that we all got cheated that night of the many years we were supposed to still have together as a family.”
“Trust me, you grew up plenty. And for the record that’s enough growing up please,” he said, already feeling like he’d missed so much and hoping that time would slow down for a bit and his daughters would still need him around. “Looking more like your mama everyday, so beautiful.” he said, kissing the top of Raven’s head, “We have a lot of catching up to do,”

Hum leaves males lips at the others words, cerulean hues narrowing at the previously deceased wolf as he stops in his tracks at the sudden halt of Grayson as he rounded the corner. An unamused chuckle falls between them, digits surprisingly relaxed at his sides as he shakes his head. “Dramatics,” Wesley questions. “Only one being dramatic here is you. Why don’t you tell me how the hell it is that you’re stood here right now. Corey said you died but clearly you aren’t dead and I would like to know how and why?”
.
He recognized Wesley almost immediately as his features were made clear when he stepped into the light. “I know just about as much as you do.” he said, not having any explanations as to why he was there and how it was possible that he was back. “Do you know where Corey is? the girls?” He didn’t know how long whatever this was would last, and he didn’t want to waste time that he could be spending with his family.

To say that Cordelia was still in shock was the understatement of the century and the idea of going to sleep beside her husband and waking up without him, terrified her. The witch couldn’t bring herself to relax until Grayson had pulled her closer and she sighed unsteadily into their embrace before protesting “I can’t help it.” Her digits rose to rest against his features, attentive to tease through his facial hair, craving the physical touches between them for a reminder that he was still with her “it still feels like i’m just gonna wake up from a dream.”
.
He might have been teasing her about it, but he really understood. He knew that if the tables were turned he’d have trouble sleeping and probably end up guarding her to make sure that nothing happened overnight, so he just wrapped his arms around her and let her cuddle up into his side. “I know... but no one’s going to keep me away from you and our daughters without a fight from me,” he said, because even the first time he had fought like hell to keep them safe and for the chance to get back to them.
“You still haven’t told me about what’s going on here though, I get the feeling I walked into some kind of supernatural war, but what’s your take on it?” He’d always valued Corey’s opinions and every decision they came to had been ones that they discussed and came to together from choosing their home, to what they were grabbing for dinner, and that didn’t change now that he had come back.

Closed Starter - Grayson and Cordelia @sorrowssilhouette
Chuckling when he woke up and saw his wife staring at him intently he just rolled over and sat up a bit in bed, “Baby you’re gonna have to stop staring at me every morning, I’m not going anywhere, I doubt the other witches would risk you going crazy on them if they took me away from you again,” he said, wrapping his arms around Corey and kissing her cheek.

Cordelia reluctantly parted from their kiss, but only for a moment as her digits rose to rest against the back of his neck, entwining with his hair. Her heart broke as he pleaded with her and she knew in that moment that she couldn’t deny him of that promise. “Okay” she whispered, before forcing a little more strength to her tone, “I promise. I promise.” Talking about their girls and the years that he’d been forced to miss caused for her chest to tighten as another sob threatened to urge from her lips, but she fought to suppress the sensation. “They’re so grown up, Gray and they’re so beautiful. But they miss you. We all miss you so much.”
The intensity of their embrace was everything that the witch needed in the moment and the warmth of his frame against her own caused for her breath to hitch in the back of her throat, reminding her that this was real. “I can’t let go. I can’t lose you again. I won’t lose you again.” It didn’t matter how much time had passed, every day she felt reminded of their loss. She still cried herself to sleep each night, knowing that losing him was a pain greater than anything else that she had ever experienced. She couldn’t face that again.
Her digits remained entwined in his locks and her forehead now rested against his, as a slightly tearful but soft giggle left her lips “you have to say that” she mused breathlessly, before leaning herself closer as she brushed the tip of her nose against her husbands. “Whatever this is, I won’t let you go” she promised, before placing another kiss against his lips. “I won’t lose you again.”
.
Breathing a little easier knowing that no matter what her hatred was for their wolves, they never broke promises to one another, Grayson sighed and nodded, like he was trying to assure himself that nothing bad was going to happen to his family. “Two years... I knew you were strong, but I am so proud of you for carrying on for the girls.” he said, knowing that Corey probably felt the moment that he’d died, and understanding from when he’d seen his father after his mother died, how painful it was to be the one left behind without the other half of their soul in the world with them. “Look at their mama, they’ve always been beautiful because they look just like you,” he said, proud of Aria and Raven too as he had always been.
He’d always been the dad who was way too large to fit on the kiddie chairs at kindergarten but did it anyway whenever his daughters asked him to stay with them and play for a bit dropping them off, he was the kind of dad who’s hand was glued to a camcorder recording every family road trip and school play, and he was obnoxiously proud of his daughters. He remembered carrying Raven and Aria on his shoulders when they were toddlers walking around and doing projects for the pack all while keeping his kids with him the whole time and letting them run around only to swoop them up in the air to make their giggle for hours. He gave the biggest bear hugs, and he had no qualms about hugging Corey as tightly as he could making up for the two years they’d gone without them.
“I do, but I really mean it.” he said, smirking at her and kissing her repeatedly, lifting her up into his arms and resting his forehead against hers as he took in every inch of her face, memorizing her features all over again, completely captivated by her green eyes. They both knew that there was no way to be sure that it wouldn’t happen, but that didn’t matter in that moment and he knew Corey needed to hear him say something on the matter. “That... sounds like a plan, baby. There’s no where I’d rather be than be right here with you.” Bringing them over to the familiar spot on the largest rock by the lake, he let her sit on his lap, his arms loosely wrapped around her as they looked out at the water. “I want to know everything... all your stories, everything about the girls- about you... there aren’t any guys here I need to talk to about making moves on my wife, are there?”

Cordelia’s digits rose as her palms cupped Grayson’s cheeks and her bottom lip continued to tremble before their eyes met once again. “Please don’t make me promise that” she pleaded and tears continued to roll down her cheeks. Cordelia knew that it wasn’t going to be the answer that he wanted to hear, or one that he could accept, but she couldn’t lie to him. “If I can, I have to. I can’t… I can’t live knowing they got away with it, I just can’t.” In the months that followed Grayson’s death, Corey had become obsessed with finding the wolves responsible, but she could recognise that she was hardly in a sound state of mind and Grayson was right, their daughters needed her and she wouldn’t do anything, that would put the three of them in danger. That however, didn’t mean that she ever stopped searching.
She understood that Grayson wasn’t going to make a promise that he wasn’t sure he could keep either, but it didn’t mean that it hurt any less, not knowing how much time they had together. The unsettling thought caused for Cordelia to lower her hands to his shirt and her grip tightened against the material, causing for her knuckles to go white from the intensity as she simply held him and in return, pleaded to be held.
“I know baby” the witch whimpered, desperate to try and steady her breaths as she lifted her head to look at him once again and the sight of his smile caused for her stomach to tighten. His smile that she had craved to see again for so long, still had the exact same effect on her as it had the first day she had seen it. A soft, but tearful laughter eased from her lips in light of his comment and Cordelia shook her head, knowing that by this point her cheeks would be flushed and her nose red from all of the crying as she leant into his attentive touch, “i’ve missed you so much.” With those words, she pulled herself up onto her tiptoes and tugged against the material of his shirt, aching to kiss him.
.
Grayson didn’t know how long he had, he didnt know if this was all going to end soon and it killed him not knowing that, but he had to make sure that even when he was gone, Corey would’t do anything that would put herself in danger. He knew that she was a powerful witch, and the anger and pain only amplified that, but he couldn’t have her chasing after the wolves who killed him because he knew that they wouldn’t hesitate in doing the same to her. “Baby… please, promise me… The only thing worse than dying and being away from you and the girls would be knowing that something happened to you and the girls didn’t have either of us here to protect them.
Understanding what she needed from him in that moment, he just wrapped his arms tightly around her, showing her that he had no intention of letting go. “However long I’ve got this time around, I never thought I’d be able to do this again.” he said, at least not until she joined him on the other side, which, despite how much he missed her, he’d hoped wouldn’t be for a really long time. “There’s no measure that would work to tell you how much I missed you,” he murmured, not hesitating for a second to press his lips against hers and kiss her, hoping that this kiss erased the memory of the rushed and heartbreaking kiss they’d shared seconds before he rapped his knuckles on the car to get Kenna to drive off with his family.
“You’re still the most beautiful woman, on this planet Cordelia Cordeaux Danes. And now I can say you’re the most beautiful woman on both sides of the veil.” he added, breaking their kiss only for a second and never pulling back far enough for their foreheads not to be touching, needing her close as much as she needed him.

The way Aria’s walks through town were going, she was beginning to think that she should call them quits and just let Austin worry. But she had to investigate when she had seen the familiar figure. She thought her mind was playing tricks on her. Or maybe someone from the resistance was playing a cruel trick to get her on their side. Regardless, whether or not it was a conscious decision, Aria was making her way toward the figure, trying to catch up with his long strides.
Aria jumped as he was suddenly facing her before she could even process his next movements. As he faced her, she tried to convince herself that this was just a random man and she was just going crazy or something. But in the shadows, she still couldn’t be sure. Without a second thought, she raised one hand and softly muttered “Post tenebras spero lucem.” A small ball of light appeared in the hybrids hand as she examined the face of the man in front of her, her eyes immediately filling with tears. “Dad?”
.
The little glimmer of light that appeared out of no where mimicked the ones that Corey would conjure up whenever she would tuck the girls in at night and tell them bedtime stories, so it already piqued his interest, but what claimed his attention were the features that the little orb illuminated, and the sound of his daughter calling him dad, just like she’d done a million times throughout her life, but it had been so long that hearing it again made his heart wrench in his chest.
He didn’t need another minute because he recognized his daughter immediately, a smile growing on his face even as the tears filled hers. “Aria,” he said, confirming that it was actually him despite all the odds. “Hi, little one.”

At first, Austin had been uncertain. He wasn’t close enough to get any kind of mental read on Grayson’s thoughts, but he could sense the unease coming from the male and it was enough to make him feel lightheaded. He knew he couldn’t afford to be wrong with this and although it seemed entirely impossible and should have been, the man that he had been tailing for a few blocks now looked exactly, like Aria’s father.
It probably seemed outrageous for a hunch, but following him seemed like the only rational thing to do. However, he hadn’t been paying close enough attention as he retrieved his phone from his pocket and began sending Aria a message, but as he turned the corner he walked straight into Grayson’s set up.
The sound of the wolf’s voice still terrified Austin, even more so as his anger seemed directed at him right now. “Its … it is you” the psychic’s jaw fell slightly slack, but the rest of his frame tensed “Aria’s… dad.”
.
Grayson recognized that the person in front of him was a wolf, and while he wasn’t a part of his pack, Grayson had still been an alpha when he was alive so he commanded a certain presence among wolves, and was about to question him further when he said his daughters name. “You know Aria?” he asked, raising an eyebrow at the kid and backing up a little so that he could come further into the light and he could see him more clearly.
“How do you know my daughter? how do you know who I am?” He’d been gone for two years and the kid in front of him didn’t look familiar, but as long as he knew who Aria was, maybe he could point Grayson in the direction of where he could find her.

“Aren’t you supposed to be worm food?” Cameron questioned callously once the pair had revealed themselves to one another. He’d caught sight of his brother in law a few blocks back, but had soon been rumbled after his mediocre attempts to tail the alpha. The witch ensured to keep a subtle distance between them and his brow creased before a heavy sigh urged from his lips, “tell me this isn’t Cordelia’s doing.”
.
The voice made him instantly recognize the other as he stepped out of the shadows, glaring slightly at his brother in law even if seeing him only gave him hope that he would be reunited with his family again soon. “Do you really think that Corey wouldn’t be here right now if she was somehow responsible for this?” he asked, understanding the hesitation as if he witnessed someone coming back from the dead he’d be weary too. “You really have no idea what’s going on? I would have thought that this kind of magic would be right up your alley.”

“You didn’t have a chance in hell without me!” she insisted, pushing weakly against him again. “They killed you! They took you away from us, and I didn’t even have a chance to help. I could have…I don’t know, lit them on fire or something, and you could have got away with us!” Raven knew that was unlikely, because her control over her magic at that point was tenuous at best and all she’d have likely done was something accdiental.
She couldn’t hold back her tears any longer, and she buried her face against him. “I love you too - I love you but I miss you, I didn’t want you to go away. Please don’t go away again.”
.
“You don’t understand this yet because you aren’t a parent, but I would have taken that chance over and over again if it meant knowing that you and your sister were as far away from those pack members as possible.” he said, moving her auburn hair away from her face, seeing his own stubbornness in her but also seeing the hurt that his death had caused, and he understood. He knew that his daughters and Corey had sacrificed the most from his actions, but he also knew that all that was running through his head in that moment was that his daughter was in front of him, and that he was able to talk to her again.
Happily letting her bury her face into his chest he just hugged her back, placing a kiss on the top of her head. “I’m going to do my best, okay? I love you, and I missed you too. I missed you, your mom and your sister every single day. But look at you, two years and you went and grew up on me.”

Cordelia knew that Grayson was right, that the members of the pack wouldn’t have stopped until they had blood on their hands and the idea that anybody could ever want to harm their daughters made her feel sick to her stomach. She listened as her husband defended his intentions that night and again, she wasn’t angry at him, in fact being at angry at him wasn’t something that she was even capable of. “I tried to find them. To make them pay” her voice trembled and the strawberry blonde shook her head with a slight scoff, “I couldn’t bare the thought of … anything happening to the girls, or if they lost me too.” Cordelia’s jaw tightened before releasing an unsteady breath, having passed the task onto her older sibling who had no issues with spilling a little blood. “I’m sorry I couldn’t make them pay. I’m so sorry I couldn’t… save you.”
Cordelia had known that Grayson had died hours before she’d been officially informed. The drive had been excruciating, but the witch had fought to keep her composure, even though her heart was broken, because in the exact moment that he died, she had felt it. A piece of her had died with him. “You can’t leave me. You can’t leave me again” she all but pleaded, as her hues swelled with moisture once again.
Her palm remained firm against her husbands cheek, aching for that reminder that he was truly there, even if she couldn’t quite bring herself to believe it, she could feel him. Another sob urged from her lungs as he rose her hand to his lips and placed a soft kiss against her skin and the witch stood herself up onto her tiptoes as she further enclosed their distance, to kiss his cheek where the tear track appeared.
As painful as it was, knowing that he’d felt close to her on the other side caused for her heart to ache within her chest, as there had been countless times that she’d been able to feel him too. It had been an inexplicable sensation, but one that she craved to feel “you came home” she sobbed softly, now unable to take her gaze away from his. “You came home” she repeated tearfully.
.
Hearing that Corey had tried to go after the people responsible for his death made his stomach drop, knowing that she was close to those people again and thinking of all the things that had happened and what they were capable of, it made him reach out to her and look into his eyes. “Promise me that you’re never going to do that again. I’m so glad that you didn’t because I know what they’re capable of when it comes to the pack and wanting control of it.” He opted not to tell Corey the details about how he died, but he just had to make sure that it wasn’t something that would happen again leaving their daughters without both parents. “Corey promise me that no matter what happens going forward you’re not going to go after them. They’re dangerous and desperate for power, and you have to be here for Raven and Aria.”
He knew that without all the information about what was going on and how he had come back he couldn’t make that promise only to break it, so he just leaned in and wrapped his arms around her body, pulling her close so that she was pressed up against him and he could finally be there to hold her up when she felt like everything was becoming too much.
“I told you I would find you… I’m sorry I was a little late.” he said, offering her his trademarked goofy wonky smile as he kissed her cheek again, “You’ve gotta stop with the tears, babe. You’re too beautiful to have those green eyes full of tears.” he offered, wiping away the tears on her cheeks as they fell.

Cordelia shook her head, fiercely blinking back her tears, but despite her attempts to pull herself together her voice soon betrayed her “we needed you. I needed you.” The witch didn’t blame him, of course she didn’t and there had been a period in her grieving that she had been mad, but not mad at him. Instead she was furious at the injustice of it all. “I needed you” she repeated breathlessly.
She had to concentrate to contain her sobs as they threatened to urge from her lungs, the weight of the emotion having weighed down upon her entirely as she fought to trust whether or not she could believe that this was real.
“I don’t believe that. You weren’t supposed to die. I can’t believe that.” Cordelia inhaled a stuttering breath before releasing sharply. “You weren’t supposed to leave us, to leave our daughters without their father. That’s what I don’t understand, what i’ll never understand.” Vengeance had always been a prominent desire for the witch and she wasn’t proud of it, but she had intended to use her brothers connections to her advantage. She wanted those responsible dead and she would stop at nothing, to ensure that she got her wish.
For now though, instinct took over as Grayson stepped closer and as he reached for her hand, muscle memory encouraged for her to reach for him. Even if this wasn’t real, to feel his hand against hers for even a few more minutes was everything that she desperately craved. As the warmth of his digits enclosed around her own, a stuttering breath left her lungs and through her teary emerald hues, she met his gaze, allowing him to guide her back to her feet.
For a moment, she couldn’t find the words. Instead she just stared at him, on the verge of another sob breaking before finally, she whimpered “I have some idea” and her free hand rose shakily to reach for his cheek, gasping as her digits caressed his features “I need this to be true.”
.
He let her say her piece, knowing that it was something that she needed to get out, unsure if she’d ever said the words out loud before. His wife was incredibly independent, and even throughout their relationship she’d always been so fearless and tackled anything that came their way, it was one of the things that he admired most about her, but it was also something that made him know in his final moments that whatever happened to him, their daughters would have their mother and even if that wasn’t the same, he knew they would be okay.
“Corey what happened to me-- it wasn’t about us. It was about seeking power and taking it, and if you and the girls didn’t leave they would have done the same thing to the three of you because they wanted control.” He didn’t know how to explain it further, but he could see the anger and rage that was built up underneath her warm green eyes and he just shook his head. “I thought I could fight them off that night, I thought if I just got you away I would see you again, but their reinforcements came from nowhere and they surrounded me-- I’m so sorry I couldn’t keep my promise to you,” reliving his death was painful but not as painful as the anguish that he saw on Corey’s face. He’d never wanted to be the cause of her pain and yet he could see now that the pain she’d felt in the past few years was all because of him.
He couldn’t help the tear that slid down his cheek when he felt Corey’s palm make contact with his skin, leaning into her hand and holding on to her free one tightly, like he didn’t want to risk letting go. Grayson stood there and brought her hand to his lips, placing a soft kiss on it as his eyes found their way back to Corey’s. “There’ve been so many times on the other side I felt like I was close to you - I didn’t get to see you but I could feel you and it was a specific kind of torture knowing that you were close but I couldn’t talk to you or hold you-- this is real, Corey... it’s me.”

mackcnnaaguado:
having had arguable one of the shittiest days she’d had in a while, kenna had set out on a bit of a ❛ soul searching ❜ expedition ( which had really just turned out to be a casual walk through the woods ). she figured that if she could be alone with nature, the one thing that she continued to feel connected to, maybe she could pull herself from the slump that she’d been in.
the wolf hadn’t even realized that she’d been following someone, having put her airpods in a while ago – at least, not until she’d been confronted about it. the sudden appearance of grayson ( though she hadn’t realized it was him just yet ) before her caused kenna to release an audible gasp. ❝ fucking hell! ❞ the brunette called out, taking one of the headphones from her ear. ❝ are you trying to give me a heart attack!? ❞
.
At the familiar sound of his beta’s voice, he furrowed his brow and inspected her features when she got close enough and out of the shadows for him to see her. “Kenna,” he murmured - not a question but more of a shocked statement because if she was here, then there was a good chance his family was too. His wolf eyes glimmered through for a moment as he straightened up and let go of her, raising his palms to show her that he wasn’t a threat.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, for the first time since he’d come back, hopeful that he would be with his wife and daughters again soon. “Where is Corey? The girls?” he asked this time, knowing that she would know because he’d trusted her with their safety the night that he died.
