My Glasgow Research
for this task I want to make a video on the botanic gardens in Glasgow because I am fascinated with nature and the botanic gardens has a massive amounts of plants and they have some fish in tanks similar to the habitats they would be inion the wild. Glasgow Botanic Gardens were originally founded on an 8 - acre site at the west end of Sauchiehall Street at Sandyford in 1817. This was through the initiative of Thomas Hopkirk of Dalbeth who donated his own plant collection to form the nucleus of the new garden.
this is one of the first images taken of the gardens. In 2003 they did a £7+ million restoration of a part of the gardens. the gardens 12,000 individual plants in 1825. I hope to learn some more about the gardens when I go there to look for possible places to capture some good video clips for the final video and I might be able to take some cool photos while I am there.

still life photographers research
theses are some still life photos that inspire me
Man Ray
man ray was born in America in 1890 and he died in 1976 he spent most of his carer in France, he was good at many different art forms and he created some beautiful images like his sudo solarisation photo which was an accident but ended up becoming an extremely famous photo.
Laura Letinsky
Laura Letinsky is a new photographer to me and her work is interesting and it gives me some ideas for possible photos I might want to take in the future like her still lives of food and plates scattered across tables.

Big Idea - Enterprise Project
As part of our NC Enterprise project our group organised a raffle for a Pet Photography Phtoto-shoot with the aim of raising funds for Cats Protection. Our raffle was pulled tonight at the opening of our classes first portrait exhibition!!
Prizes were well distributed and winners will be contacted asap.
Most importantly we sold 115 tickets so have raised over £200 for Cats Protection. Big thanks to everyone with their help in buying and selling tickets. We really appreciate it!

Enterprise
Initial Ideas
1. Offer services to a charity to provide photographs that they may find useful. - e.g. Documenting the work, they do. Some things to consider:
There is not a huge amount of time for this project so we would probably be best connecting with a charity that one of us is already involved with as getting to the right person can take ages
If it involves children we may have to get disclosure checks - not sure if this would be the case but again could take forever
2. Set up web page to produce and sell Retro T-shirts/Mugs/Key Rings within the college. Some things to consider:
Not sure how popular this would be given there are already commercial sites doing the same very well
There is not an obvious produce - at Christmas you could do cards or calendars
It would require investment ( I assume by us) up front
3. Take images for Hairdressing, Make-Up and Drama students in the college for their portfolios - this could also be extended to photographing products e.g. that the various craft students produce. They in turn would make a donation or be charged a set price going to a charity of our choice
4. Family/child portraits for college staff. Maybe they could bring their children/pets!! For this we would have to advertise a set day and again in turn would make a donation or be charged a set price going to a charity of our choice
Our Proposal
After discussion in our group and building on our first idea we have opted to offer our services to a dog charity (cat charity being second in reserve - on the basis that dogs are easier to photograph than cats). We would propose to provide a pet photography service to their followers / members, who would in return make a donation to the charity for the image received. The proposal is working on the basis that the charity would have a number of follower’s who are essentially a captive audience and may also have a dedicated event in their diary where the dog’s owners (plus dogs) would be present.
The Project
Following discussions with various charitable organisations it was proving difficult to find and appropriate event /project that a charity supported so we revised our plans and agreed to run a charity raffle , with the “prizes” being a pet photoshoot, and any money raised after costs gong to Cats Protection.
The project is based on the following principles:
1. Ticket Sales
o We aim to sell a minimum of 200 tickets at £2 each raising £400 ( less costs)
o Comply with legislation surrounding charity raffles https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/PDF/quick-guides/Running-a-lottery-quick-guide.pdf
2. Prizes
o 1st Prize - Pet photoshoot at own home / agreed location (within Glasgow area) with 3 images - printed and jpeg delivered to winner
o 2nd Prize - Pet photoshoot at own home / agreed location (within Glasgow area) with 3 images - jpeg emailed to winner
o 3rd Prize - Pet Treat
3. Timeline
o 29 April - 3 May 2019 - Preparation , printing tickets, calculating costs, planning kit list for photo shoot
o 4 May - 19 May 2019 - Ticket selling
o 20 May 2019 - Ticket draw
o 21 May 2019 - Winners contacted
o 22 May - 13 June 2019 - Photo shoot completed and delivered to winner
o 14 June 2019 - Money raised given to Cats Protection
4. Roles & Responsibilities
o Joan - Co-ordinator - responsible for coordinating all activity, ensuring legal compliance, liaising with and donating funds to charity
o Antonia - Costing and Budget Control - responsible for monitoring costs of all activities to complete ticket sales and photoshoot plus income from ticket sales. Maintain receipts.
o Chloe - Ticket Sales & Customer Liaison - responsible for printing tickets, monitoring ticket sales, ticket draw, liaising with winners, ensuring delivery of prizes to winners
