A shepherd finds his lost sheep in an unfortunate predicament. Another watercolor illustration from my sketchbook.
I remember liking Baragon a lot when I was a kid. In Frankenstein Conquers the World, he was the culprit in consuming livestock in the countryside, so I guess that is where the idea came from.

Gamera’s actions in the first two Heisei movies coming back to haunt him in Gamera 3.
He goes all-out against the Super Gyaos in Tokyo, thinking the city is evacuated, and ends up killing the parents of a girl who raises a kaiju to avenge them. He severs his connection with Asagi (and by extension humanity) to revive himself, and the carnage his careless barrage of fireballs cause in Shibuya leads the government to declare him Public Enemy Number One yet again. He overcomes Legion with his ultimate weapon, the Mana Beam, but the energy it takes from the Earth is so great that Gyaos return in apocalyptic numbers.

Godzilla vs. Biollante is So Good!
-Characters are solid, especially Gondo
-Special effects are the series peak in quality
-Score is fun and catchy. Bio Wars anyone?
-It continues the themes and world building from the first movie and adds even more to it. It's one of the best sequels out there
-BioGoji is the best Godzilla design
-Biollante is fucking great
- Both forms of her look visually amazing and are well animated through suit acting, puppetry, and animatronics. Her roar is also hauntingly beautiful.

Duel of the Symbiotes
What can I say, I liked Venom, even before the movie. Carnage? Nmmm so so. Kinda like Deadpool only even more violet, if that were possible. Anywho, here’s some fanart. The Official SFM Discord gave me some feedback to make them look more “moist”, and I gotta say, they are “moist”.

I love that both Shinoda's and Katagiri's ideologies make sense and are both agreeable. Godzilla is both a threat and a natural disater. He causes massive amounts of destruction but isn't hellbent on humanity. He's a creature, just doing what his natural instincts tells him to do.

Gamera: Revenge of Iris is one of the quintessential Kaiju films that makes me love the kaiju sub genre. It's always fun exploring small, niche genres and finding hidden gems lurking in the background. If I have any chance to introduce someone to the kaiju genre, I would definitely expose them to the Gamera Heisei Trilogy first. I also recommend all the kaiju fans who haven't seen it yet to do themselves a favor and go out of their way to see it. You won't regret it.

My own version of the unused Destoroyah ending, integrated as it might’ve been in a completed assembly of the film (the damage/tape splices notwithstanding).

Okay, we need to put this to bed once and for all...
Those things that Godzilla yanks out of Hedorah near the end of Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster? They’re eyeballs.
During shooting of Godzilla vs. Hedorah, the crew actually ran out of money because producer Tomoyuki Tanaka was in the hospital and he wasn’t around to wrangle writer/director Yoshimitsu Banno properly. Corporate Toho told Banno and company to shut down production and scrap the movie. Banno and special effects director Teruyoshi Nakano, being consummate filmmakers, just kept on shooting. The problem was, they had to shoot with whatever they had available. Hedorah’s eyes were constructed– but not painted (couldn’t pay to have whoever paint them now). Yasuyuke Inoue’s storyboards drawn up for the sequence are drawn colored exactly like Hedorah’s eyes, complete with pupils. Godzilla was supposed to yank Hedorah’s eyeballs out at the end because they were the source of the Smog Monster’s power. Dr. Yano looks at a piece of ground Hedorah eyeball under a microscope and discovers the drably-named Hedorium. How did Godzilla know all this? Because he’s fughin’ Godzilla, that’s why. Don’t question the King of the Monsters. And if you look, you’ll see one of them is dented in where Godzilla punched it earlier.
This is also why that old get-your-ass-to-Planet X model of Godzilla from Monster Zero was trotted out for the Godzilla flies scene– no money to make a new model!
Now, as to why Hedorah still has eyes later on, this is because they talk frequently throughout the movie that Hedorahs converge and become bigger. The Hedorah that tries to escape is the Hedorah Godzilla encountered early in the movie. After that fight, that Hedorah apparently encountered another, more powerful Hedorah (possibly the evil-looking one that sank the tankers?)
and merged together with it. The electrodes killed that bigger Hedorah and the smaller original one tries to hightail it out of there. If you’ll notice, from that moment on, Hedorah is once again smaller than Godzilla and Godzilla manhandles him with ease again.
Also– while he is certainly flying– Hedorah is not transformed into the flying form, because he no longer has that ability. It’s frog Hedorah from there on out.
And there it is, based on the evidence given in the film and what happened behind the scenes to make Hedorah’s eyes not look their proper red. Don’t let wikis try to tell you otherwise.

64 Years of Godzilla
Godzilla has been my favorite franchise of all time. Seeing the franchise evolve into what it is now is truly marvelous. I got to see the ups and downs with these films. But I mainly got to see the purpose of each film. Each film has a charm and some form of value around them. And that, to me at least, is the reason why I keep coming back to these movies. Each film is memorable, each film is intriguing, and at least every single Godzilla film is somebody's favorite.

Both Godzilla's and Ghidorah's character evolutions from Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah is a solid, fun Godzilla film. It has a confusing plot and some outdated special effects but its still an entertaining film. Characters, Monsters, set design, and visual effects is what carries this film from beginning to end. But the main reason why I keep returning to this Kaiju flick so many times is because of Godzilla and Ghidorah always swapping character roles. Like how Ghidorah is looked upon as the antagonist and Godzilla as the monster you're rooting for. But as soon as Ghidorah is defeated, Godzilla becomes the antagonist again. Then after that, Mecha-King Ghidorah appears and becomes the protagonist. It's just so fun seeing these two behemoths switch roles throughout the film and truly shows why King Ghidorah is and always will be Godzilla's arch nemesis.
