Meeting Juliana had completely changed the trajectory of Lili’s life. She was just coming to terms with her sexuality and herself when she met Juliana and it happened to be the best thing that had ever happened to Lili. Juliana loved her like no one else ever had. She cared for her and although some thought it was too soon, the couple moved in together within a year. It wasn’t too soon for them. It felt just right and then the proposal happened and suddenly, Lili could picture her whole life with Juliana.
She could picture children in their future, running outside on their yawn whilst Lili and Juliana were cuddled up on the porch. Every time she pictured this, the number of children changed but everything else remained the same. Lili didn’t care how many kids she had with Juliana. She just wanted a whole life with her and would do anything to get that. It seemed to fall into place when Lili began working on that case and met Blakely. It felt as though Blakely was the missing piece and she fit into their family perfectly, so when Lili was finally able to get her out of that horrid start to her life, the couple adopted her and started their perfect little family. They got Blakely the help she needed with her hearing and years later, things were going so well.
Getting pregnant was a big decision and for couple that were two women, it was even harder. They tried to get pregnant using Juliana’s eggs first as Lili wanted a mini Juliana running around the house, but she couldn’t handle the heartbreak. Each time it failed, a small part of Lili’s heart just broke off and never mended. They took a break to work on themselves and try and get Lili’s headspace right again and once that was all set, Lili and Juliana tried again. It worked. Lili was pregnant and so far, the pregnancy had gone smoothly. It was because Lili ensured she wasn’t working too hard or doing too much but that phone call… that phone call just changed everything for her. Her hands were shaking whilst she was on the photo but as she pulled herself out of bed, she managed to get it under control.
As her fingers linked with Juliana’s, Lili bent down and pressed a kiss to Juliana’s hand. She was standing at Juliana’s side of the bed, looking down at her wife. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you.” She repeated again, despite the fact that Juliana had said it was okay. She knew how hard Juliana worked and hated the fact that she had woken her up much before her alarm. She wanted her wife to be well rested, but this call was important. Lili couldn’t tell Juliana just what was going on because she saw how much Juliana had worried about Lili when she was working on Blakely’s case and knew she couldn’t tell Juliana that she planned on going back to that house. Blakely’s biological parents were still so angry at Lili, but Ryan was in danger. Lili couldn’t sit by whilst another child went through what Blakely had. No way.
She reached down and kissed her wife back, smiling into the kiss before she stood back up again. “Oh, I don’t think I have time to eat right now.” Lili said softly as she moved away from the bed and letting go of Juliana’s hand. She walked to the wardrobe in an attempt to find something that would go over her bump. Her due date was so close now, so finding clothes that fit was difficult. But Lili pulled out a summer dress that went to the floor. It was covered in a beautiful floral designs. The flowers were of shades of pink and the dress itself was white. Juliana had bought this for her one year on her birthday and she loved the fact that it still fit her through pregnancy. “I really do have to go. I don’t even have time to shower.” Lili sighed as she pulled her pyjama top off, throwing it to the ground. She held onto the wardrobe as she pulled her pyjama shorts down with great difficulty and then slipped into fresh underwear. She changed into her chosen outfit for the day, grabbing some sneakers out of the wardrobe as that’s what she was most comfortable with nowadays. “However, I might need your help putting these on as I can’t see my feet anymore.” Lili said with a laugh as she perched herself on the end of the bed.

Elizabeth Hayden wasn’t exactly the easiest child to deal with but she had good reason for acting out. At the young age of 6, Elizabeth’s biological mother started to hit her. She always did it in places that nobody would see and threaten Lili, telling her that she had to be quiet. She kept that secret for 2 years until her sports teacher saw the bruises on the girl as she was changing. Amanda Rollins approached her and asked about the bruises and as if she had finally been set free, Lili told her everything. It was through Amanda’s attention that Elizabeth finally got some help and she was taken away from her biological parents.
It wasn’t smooth sailing from there though as Elizabeth was passed down from home to home. She was left without a safe place until she was 15. Amanda Rollins found out that Elizabeth was still up for adoption and so she adopted her and Elizabeth finally found her home. She realised how hard her social worker had worked on her case and from that, Elizabeth found her career path. She wanted to make a difference in other kids lives like her social worker had tried to do for her. She wanted to change the way kids went through the system so she worked hard to become a social worker.
Having been so heavily career focused for so long was hard and Elizabeth failed to check in with her love life. She didn’t discover her true sexuality until she was 30 and around that same time, she met @assiduousserene in a bar one night. They hit it off almost immediately and after a year of dating, they moved in together. 3 years into the relationship, Juliana proposed. Elizabeth had never been happier but during the planning of their wedding, Elizabeth started working on a very tough case.
Blakely Grace Harrison was just 3 years old and had reports of suspected abuse. Lili wanted to help her but Blakely’s parents managed to hide the bruises well. What made everything worse was that Blakely was deaf in one ear and had no help with that. Lili had been learning sign language since she was 16 and so she started to teach Blakely how to communicate until she could get her out of that house. Blakely became very attached to Lili and refused to leave her side, crying when Lili had to go. It broke Lili’s heart to know that Danielle Harrison and Samuel Burch had been hurting this little girl and so Lili didn’t give up. She carried on fighting and was finally able to remove Blakely from that home when Blakely ended up in hospital with a broken arm.
Juliana and Elizabeth talked at length about Blakely and decided to adopt her. They took her to the doctors and realised that she was deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in another. They got her hearing aids and changed her surname to match theirs. The Pierson family was doing well, with everyone learning sign language from Lili and from a qualified teacher to be able to communicate with Blakely. But something was missing. Having Blakely made the couple realise how much joy children gave them so they tried IVF to have another. Lili tried to carry Juliana’s eggs but after 4 miscarriages in 2 years, they couple stopped and took a break for a year before trying again. They tried with Lili’s eggs this time and it worked. The pregnancy had gone smoothly so far but Lili had taken it easy at work. That was until this morning.
Lili was woken from her sleep just minutes before her alarm was set to go off. She answered the phone and listened to her colleague telling her that Danielle and Samuel had another child, a boy named Ryan, who had suspected reports of abuse. Lili shot upright in her bed, trying not to wake Juliana but she suspected that it was too late for that. She ended the call and got out of bed, walking over to the wardrobe to search for something to wear. She had to get to that house as quickly as possible. Ryan was in trouble and Lili had to help him… She just didn’t want to tell Juliana that. She looked back at her wife who was now awake and sighed softly. “Sorry babe. Did I wake you up?” She asked quietly, walking back over to the bed and taking her wife’s hand in her own. She hated waking her wife before her alarm went off but their shifts were due to start around the same time this morning. Still, Lili felt guilty.

“Blakely learnt signs for different types of flowers today and then on our walk home, she was pointing at every flower and telling me what they were in sign language. So proud of our little girl.”
