It’s been 3 and a half years and I still refuse to forgive Disney/Star Wars for fumbling the sequel trilogy so bad. How do you pull together such a fantastic cast with that kind of chemistry and then just not seem to have any kind of direction for where you want the story and characters to go? It’s like they were too focused on throwing plot twists at the audience that they forgot to make a plot that made sense in the first place. Like, why wasn’t Rey just born like Anakin? It would’ve made more sense than her being a Palpatine due to someone fucking his clone(?). Then she would’ve been simultaneously a Palpatine (in the loosest way possible) , a ‘Skywalker’ (by being a parallel to Anakin), and a nobody. The mischaractization of Luke Skywalker that even Mark Hamill pointed out? The fact that they killed the entire og trio on screen (like just Han would’ve been fine). Felt like shit watching the og heroes die on screen during the dark ass times of the Trump era. The new main trio (+ Rose) barely got any on screen time together, especially after The Force Awakens. Finn, and Rose should’ve had more screentime *period* in The Rise of Skywalker. Like ugh I’m just still so mad

my favorite thing, and I've said it before and I'll say it again, is hearing the sw cast talk about the sequel trio's relationship and wind up describing it exactly like a qpr

maybe one of my core beliefs has been too narrow. maybe it's not "show me a love triangle that isn't improved by polyamory. you can't." maybe it's actually "show me a group of people who are very important to each other and i will declare them a polycule"

just watched all the starwars movies with my mom. for the last jedi and the rise of skywalker i was high as balls and had to fight the very strong urge to tell my mom about my finnxpoexrey ship headcannons

They should have played with last names more in TROS. It would have been fun. 'cause two of the three mains do not have a surname due to sad childhoods and so on, but the way they ended, with Rey taking the name Skywalker, doesn't work for me at all.

I'm picturing a scenario where sometime near the beginning of the movie, Finn needs a last name temporarily just to lie about for some reason or other. And he's like Poe can I borrow your last name. And Poe's like what are you trying to marry me or something? And Finn's like what? No! Wait was that on the table?

And then when the little girl at the festival asks Rey her family name she skips the asking part and just says Dameron strictly to annoy Poe

at the very end when the old lady asks who she is, she says it again! Rey Dameron! but this time it's not a joke, because the whole message of the movie is that they have each other and that's what matters most!!

There I just tied the thing together in a neat bow and it's only a little bit gay and it cuts out the weird bit where she just decides to be a Skywalker even though frankly that family is a nightmare and I'm pretty sure most of the galaxy would love to never hear the name again.
