I love, love, LOVE it when I can tell a fic author has integrated their specialized knowledge in a fic. I was reading a fic that at some point included the character going to visit an art therapist, and it's so clear that the author is an art therapist themself, and the details included are just immaculate and I love it. I've previously read about a character doing fencing for no other reason than the author clearly wanting to write a sport they understood. A character being given a hyperfixation on bugs just so the author can infodump themselves.

It's actually funny how humans decided "fuck living in caves with all these creepy crawlies", got out of caves, built houses that have all the nice parts of a cave without any of the yucky parts, and then all the little bugs and spiders and other creepy crawly creatures that used to also live in caves thought "sweet, new and improved caves" and moved right back in with us.

This is the cycle of reindeer, Rangifer Tarandus, growing antlers, shedding their winter coat, shedding velvet, shedding antlers, and re-growing them. And if Katsuki hadn't been there to drag him back from the drowning waves then there was a high chance that he never made it back out of the water. That brush with death should have told him to stay away from the ocean but the creature he saw in the water had him coming back day after day to try and see it again. It was during those return visits that Izuku finally met Hanta Sero properly. Right, a quirkless AU where the Bakusquad are artists of various kinds that create a play/show together.

Sero is a traditional artist that created a series of black and white artworks that he posts on whatever social media.

Jiro is a music producer that discovered Sero's art and created different songs and music from the inspiration.

Ashido is a dance choreographer that made several sets to follow Jiro's music.

Bakugou is a writer that put the other three's arts into words. (Starts off anonymous)

Kaminari is an electrical engineer with focus on stage lighting and effects that joins the other four when he discovers their art.

Kirishima is a stunt coordinator with a similar focus on practical stage acting that finds out about all of this from his middle school friend Ashido.

Could or could not be poly!bakusquad or simply various relationships between them.

I've been real busy lately because it's December and I work at the post office, so of course I am

But that doesn't mean I can't show up with an unprompted PSA

Hey! Have you ever mailed a letter to Santa Claus? Have you ever wondered what exactly happened to that letter? Well wonder no longer! If it had a stamp and a return address, then odds are that it ended up on the USPS's Operation Santa page!

Every year, the USPS collects letters to Santa Claus, and processes them to black out any identifying information. Last names, addresses, things like that. Then, the letters are posted on the Operation Santa webpage and people can adopt the letters.

Once you adopt a letter, you can buy gifts for them, wrap them up, and package them. Then you get a barcode from the website, and bring them to a post office. The clerk there will scan the barcode, which prints out a label with the address on it, and sends out the gift.

It's anonymous on both ends, and is generally just. A really nice thing to do.

I highly recommend it if you have some money to spare this year and want to give a kid a moment of magic this year

It's one of those things that the post office just happened to be positioned to do, and ended up knocking it out of the park. Unfortunately, I don't think they advertise this nearly well enough, and most letters end up going unanswered

Why 431 is a good ending (yeah, as a bkdk)

“Izuku would never reject katsukis offer to be a sidekick “ OLD SELFLESS Izuku wouldn’t BUT now he’s grown up and thinks about him first!

I think that’s so positive cause Izuku no longer wants that his only relationship with katsuki is rivalry like but as something more, connect with him as a person rather than a rival.

Also I’m so proud of Izuku for putting himself first, he wants to teach as well as to be a hero, and also he wants to make a name for himself apart from katsuki and wants katsuki to make a name on his own as well.

Honestly I don’t really know if Izuocha would happen in the future or not because even if they’re blushing they didn’t confirm anything. But to me, their relationship feels right? and imma explain how and why.

Ochako was the first person in Izukus life that showed him true compassion and kindness, not the one that comes from a mother but one that comes from someone that doesn’t have anything tied to you and doesn’t owe you anything. Of course Izuku was all blushy, I remember being like that at 15 when I had the same experience as him, confusing love with the need of being loved.

Ochako as the series continued to fell in love with Izuku, or maybe just idealised him, Izuku didn’t really respected her like she did, but he still got all blushy cause wow a girl is talking to him. By not respecting her I mean he didn’t saw her as an equal, for example the dialogue “ U:I’m sorry I messed up! I: don’t worry at least there was a man to save ya”, doubting her when she was against bakugou and well overall not really thinking that she’s capable of winning on hero stuff. To me it looks like Izuku sees ochako as a pretty and nice girl at the beginning of the series, but he isn’t interested in her.

With katsuki is quite the opposite. He tries to demonise him at first cause he’s very rough with him, but can’t help but not to because he really admired him. Katsuki had what Izuku didn’t and wanted for himself, strength, boldness, action. Izuku was the type of person that didn’t say what he thought and he was a people pleaser and he hated that side of himself. That’s why he was so obsessed with katsuki and chasing him. But that wasn’t love either.

As the series avance so do these characters. Izuku begins to see both ochako and katsuki for who they are and not his idealised image of who they are, he also begins to understand himself better.

They all explore complex feelings about each other as they grow in a war and they learn to forgive themselves. Katsuki then recognises that all the resentment that he was feeling for Izuku was because he as well wanted something that Izuku had that he didn’t. He wanted to be vulnerable, to be able to cry, to have a compassionate heart. Both katsuki and Izuku realised that they didn’t hate nor love eachother, they wanted something that the other one had that they wanted to express in themselves but weren’t brave enough to.

When 431 comes many bkdk fans are disappointed at first (me included) but now that I gave it a thought, I understand why it ended that way even if it’s not canon, and it has nothing to do with the typical shonen narrative.

Izuku and katsuki had to part ways.

After a whole life of chasing eachother they needed to be someone apart from Izuku and kacchan. They needed to be something else than rivals, they’re adults now.

Izuku rejects his offer not because he isn’t grateful but because he no longer wants anything from katsuki, he wants katsuki. And he doesn’t want katsuki to want something from him, but him.

He wants to be more than equals, he wants katsuki to see him as a person and not someone that he has to chase. He wants to be in the same line as him, maybe as friends, who knows if something more in the future.
