TONY ANGELO. helena’s first love.

both born in Gotham, Tony & Helena didn’t meet properly until just shy of her 21st birthday when his family visited the Asaro Farm, in Sicily   where Helena grew up after losing her family. They met in the farm’s chapel, where she was praying for the release of her cousin Sal from prison. Tony interrupted, & initially she rebuffed him. She had no interest in romance, & the trouble that often came with it.

The pair became inseparable, & for her birthday he gifted her with his mother’s rosary    —  knowing that her own deceased mother’s was lost on the day her family was killed. He proceeds to explain that he’s carried that rosary with him since the day his mother passed, & that he wants her to have it.  At first she rejects the gift, telling him it’s something he should give to his kids someday but ends up accepting the gift because in her heart she feels that his kids will be their kids.  she admitted to him that he scared her,  & what she meant is that the prospect of a future with him scared her   — but it was what she wanted. in the comics we even see a flash in her mind: her in a wedding dress, embracing her new husband.

That night, a truth about his father, Nino, became known to her as she caught him sa-ing her cousin, Monica. Already at odds with Nino,  she refused to let him get away with it & later that evening she snuck into his room and beat him senseless with a baseball bat.

The following day Tony finds her again in the chapel to tell her that he & his father have to return to Gotham –  & she finds herself struggling to break things off with him.

He tells her he wants to marry her: there in that chapel where they met. He recites the Sacred Heart prayer, mentioning that every time he does, he prays to her & not gcd. He asks her then to return to Gotham with him,  & she tells him that she will never go back: but that he can stay in Sicily with her.  He claims he cant, & begins to give excuses before he badmouths Monica … sending Helena into a flurry:

following the death of his father (huntress’s doing, just after the wedding), Tony immediately morphs into a new person as he fixes to take over the family business. He becomes abusive toward his new wife, & admits that it was a set up by his father to move his family up in the hierarchy of Gotham. There’s going to be a part 2 of this because it got so long !!!

anyway @batcaller wanted to watch something stupid and i think she underestimated me, so now we're watching the bubble (for pedro pascal) (and because it's stupid) and she understands
