so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god

Pretty much agree with everything. The focus on omg!teen romance took away from the friendships between the boys. Even when the boys were dumped, it was*still* all about their failed romantic relationship. Even hopper and Johnathan had those issues. It was aggravating.

The whole soon the bottle thing and discovering Billy so early was bad writing. Revealing the rat monster so early was bad writing. They lost the mystery and tension and suspense the first two seasons managed to maintain in their Monster reveals.

Season 3 suffered from power creep since for once eleven wasn't in hiding and used her powers constantly. But this also meant that when facing the mind flayer monster or Billy and the flayed, by all right everyone apart from eleven should have died. Civilians vs super Heroes. Even in season one the only time Johnathan and Nancy dealt with the demogorgan they needed a plan or a car to ram into it they shouldn't have tried to ram so many action sequences in when they're rather bad at it.

The deaths were incredibly trite and pointless. And the editing which makes people wonder of Suzie not delaying Dustin could have prevented them is the worst "what if" ever.

The Monster, specifically. If you're going pod people replacement, do a mass possession ala will of season 2 or turn them in ash/dust clones. The Monster wasn't scary, it was just...gross? And idk, somewhat immature? Like. I expected more. Season 2 mind flayer is incredibly scary in comparison.

Will should have walked out and hung out with Dustin. The schism in the group was pointless. Have Max and Eleven dump the boys and be besties and then have the boys figure out the Russian story line and then bring the mindflayer in at episode 4 after certain hints etc. Not only was the season rather convoluted but the arcs were kinda terrible for half the cast: Will, Lucas, Johnathan, Hopper had terrible were done a disservice.

So yeah, more than a little frustrated by this season. This year has been one badly handled franchise after another, from Magicians to Avengers to GoT to Stranger Things. i've given up for the year.

Things I didn't like about Stranger Things Season 3 (spoilers)

The dynamics. Joyce and Hopper I can excuse cause we needed to see them grow and build more of a relationship for that ending but I was overall tired of the rest of the dynamics. Especially Nancy and Jonathan, they were my least favorite scenes cause we've already seen them pair off for 2 seasons now. I was bored and I really felt the actors lacked any chemistry anymore

Max and Eleven dynamic was the beat new dynamic in the show, hands down, tied to Steve and Robin. But every other pair off was boring, since Lucas and Will had no storyline or did anything it was like following around Mike and his back up singers.

Will didn't have a story or an arc, I would be okay with him and Lucas not getting a whole fully fledged arc (Especially Will since he was a hUGE character last season) but they were only there to low-key prop up mike and mileven. Again i wouldn't have minded their lack of storyline if they had actually done anything this entire season, Will just says he's coming and then just watches everything go down.

I have mixed feelings on Mileven. On the one hand I feel like the Duffer's listened a bit and made it so that they weren't so dependent on each other and made el her own girl but and that was amazing but I still couldn't find myself loving them. I did in season 1 and then because a byler/elmax stan season 2.but i still like milven and lumax

Speaking of lumax, absouelty nothing except that they've broken up 3 times. I would say that they were doing this to make max out to be a lesbian but since we got Robin I don't think they are gonna make max or will gay ????

Hopper. What the hell did they do to my boy Hopper. He was a dick this entire season who didnt care about killing people or legit torturing them??? (Even though kline deserved to be put in his place) but he felt way to aggressive and it was only to create unnecessary conflict between joyce and Hopper because without it they would've gotten together before hopper could die and god forbid they let joyce be happy for one second.

The plots. I liked the plotline and it kinda worked, but felt a little to flashy for stranger things. Legit the machine or the key that opens the portal looks like that thing from the first Avengers that Loki came through.

We know NOTHING about why the Russians want to open the portal or how they got the Demogorgan, or what in the fuck that green acid shit does to open the portal. Because didnt El open the portal????

We again don't know anything else about the upside down or eleven's powers or the other children in the lab. Where did they go? There has to be atleast 9 that have existed so where are they? Did they die? Runaway, did the russians take them?

I want to know more about the upside down but we got nothing. It felt hella weird to not learn anything about it.

The mindflayer was a mess, why did they eat chemicals??? And how did the mind flayer take el's powers??? When did he???

Billy. I don't care about billy AT FUCKING ALL. So he cared about his mom??? That doesnt excuse his behavior for abusing max, being racist and trying to beat up lucas (a child) at All. I don't care about billy.

Some people are saying that billy was just putting on a facade because he was rehearsing his lines to mrs wheeler but that doesn't excuse the fact he abused his sister, tried to run over four kids on bikes, beat the shit out of Steve, tried to beat up a 13 year old kid and was racist.

So yeah just because billy had a bad past doesnt mean he was a good person this whole time. Don't use this as an excuse to say Max and Billy were sibling goals or to ship Steve and Billy, please I am begging you.

There's probably some I'm forgetting but Ill make a full review later and maybe add on if I remember anything in my rewatch today.

Overall my least favorite season, even If I did enjoy it.

Best of Stranger things S3: Erica Sinclair

On one hand, i was happy this was no longer queer baiting, with him either asexual or gay but god, what I'd have given for less of the het romance everywhere and Mike yelling for eleven all the freaking time and more actual friendship.

Imagine if Will just walked out and hung around with Dustin instead. While the Steve, Robin & Dustin (and Erica) was all gold, the split the party crap was all bullshit.

the look of pure hurt on Will Byers face after Mike said, “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls!” made me simultaneously angry and sad. Like, my boy had his youth stolen from him by some fucking deformed angry octopus and he just wants to play D&D but INSTEAD all he’s getting is his het™️ friends judging him on his sexuality (which idk if it’s confirmed or denied but judging by the look on his face is pretty clear he’s not straight). IF YALL FUCKING HURT WILL AGAIN IM GONNA START THROWING HANDS

There's a moment earlier where will kinda scoffs at love/romance and paired with this, you could also come to the possible conclusion that he's asexual. Maybe I'm telegraphing but wanting to play D&D with friends rather than crushing on a girl or guy sounds pretty ace to me
