i wish people who dunk on “silly” southern accents and vernacular could experience the total derealization that comes with listening to yourself talk and realizing that it’s not your real voice anymore. i spent so many years flattening my accent to sound smarter that i have to remind myself constantly that it’s okay to use my real fucking voice. i’ve had customers at my job make fun of me to my face when i let it slip. when i’m public speaking or even speaking in class with my peers it goes away completely because i’m so terrified of being perceived as a hick. just imagine opening your mouth and hearing a strangers’ voice come out. i can’t stress how viscerally upsetting it is to not know what the real you sounds like anymore. just think for two seconds before you yell about how you can’t take southern or appalachian dialects seriously or i will blow you up with this bombbbbb i swear to godddddd

When the situationship so bad it traumatised you and your friends to the point you're scared to tell each other "I love you" because it's a 50/50 someone thinks someone else is trying to die

I think some of you forgot that autistic people sometimes act strange and say things that are poorly worded and speak with incorrect tone and misunderstand or miss social cues because they are autistic

This was an article the Rabbi tonight suggested as reading, and I am now passing it on to you. It is more relevant than ever, given we are now headed into another Trump presidency.
"White supremacism—inscribed de jure by the Jim Crow regime and upheld de facto outside the South—had been the law of the land, and a Black-led social movement had toppled the political regime that supported it. How could a race of inferiors have unseated this power structure through organizing alone? For that matter, how could feminists and LGBTQ people have upended traditional gender relations, leftists mounted a challenge to global capitalism, Muslims won billions of converts to Islam? How do you explain the boundary-crossing allure of hip hop? The election of a Black president? Some secret cabal, some mythological power, must be manipulating the social order behind the scenes. This diabolical evil must control television, banking, entertainment, education, and even Washington, D.C. It must be brainwashing White people, rendering them racially unconscious. What is this arch-nemesis of the White race, whose machinations have prevented the natural and inevitable imposition of white supremacy? It is, of course, the Jews."

Me: You know how when you were a kid and you’d wish that you’d get sick or injured in a way that would justify why you didn’t live up to your potential?
Everybody, apparently: No?

Gadot was forbidden to wear the pin, which is considered a political statement by the awards organizers, Ynet and N12 reported.
Many had high hopes that Israeli superstar Gal Gadot, who presented an award at the Golden Globes on Sunday night in Los Angeles, would wear a yellow pin that is a symbol for the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
But while Gadot was glamorous and charming in a slinky black gown as she presented the for Best Actor in a drama award, accompanied by Emilia Perez star Edgar Ramirez, to Adrien Brody who starred in The Brutalist, she did not wear the hostage pin.
Ynet and N12 reported that Gadot was forbidden to wear the pin, which is considered a political statement by the awards organizers, even though it does not express support for any political party or for the war itself but is only a reminder that approximately 100 hostages are still held.
The day before, however, Gadot chose to post about the proof-of-life propaganda video of hostage Liri Albag just released by Hamas on her Instagram account, which has 108 million followers.
She also posted video of herself on Instagram wearing a yellow diamond with her Golden Globes outfit.
Ynet quoted a source close to Gadot as saying, “As a presenter, she was bound by specific rules and could not wear the pin. Gal struggled with this decision, which is why she posted her call to free the hostages before the event. Working with her team, she found a creative solution by wearing a yellow ring to symbolize the cause. It was important to her to honor the guidelines while still drawing attention to the hostages."
I didn’t watch the Golden Globes, does anyone know if other symbols, political or otherwise, were banned? because the fact that a yellow ribbon representing people who have been inhumanely held captive in brutal conditions for 457 days was banned for being “too political” is beyond maddening…their lives should never have been made a political issue, it is fundamentally a humanitarian issue. belittling and abandoning them has served only to worsen the entire crisis. it doesn’t matter how many times I say it, I will never understand the world’s callous reaction to the hostages.
