The offer of food visibly caught his attention. His ears perked up and twitched, and he looked over, his eyes widened some.
He could feel his mouth water, and he swallowed it back.
"... Would you?"
Agate was a boy on the run.
Little did he know, he was no longer searched for. His mind never seemed to be at peace, at least to him.
And that day, he was already on edge. A morning of odd sounds that he hadn't the nerve to investigate, but his mind always told him it was the emperor's coven trying to find him.
After a particularly bad scare, he was booking it out of the forest, a small dagger in his hand, and his lovebird palisman, Toast, hidden in his shirt.
Running blindly wasn't a good idea in any circumstance, let alone running blindly, now on a beach, where plenty of creatures came to perish.
It certainly wasn't a good idea, especially when he ran right into a creature that had perished already.
"Son of a-" he didn't finish his sentence, pushing himself off the rancid meat, head already reeling from the smell.
A small chirp eminated from his shirt, along with a mumbled apology to it..
Despite on the run, he wasn't very observant to his situation. He hadn't noticed someone standing nearby...

Zircon did not give two fucks about what Darius would think about the two confronting him. He looked determined, his ears tilted slightly down.
"I swear... If he took them... I don't care if he's a covenhead, I'm gonna let him have it." He huffed, his tail twitching back and forth in annoyance.
@goodbyegoldenboy
Sybil’s tail swished in frustration as she looked around for her missing pendant that allowed her to access oracle magic.
“Not here.” She muttered as she looked in the cabinets as her search became more frantic. The young witch took a breath, trying to prevent herself from panicking completely…after all, she had only lost one of the few ways she could access oracle magic.
Okay, that didn’t help at all.
Sybil grabbed her tail in a fit of annoyance as she let out a panicked hiss before turning to look at Zircon.
“Zircon! Thank the Titan, have you seen the pendant that I usually have on my cloak?” Sybil spoke fast and a bit frantically as she looked over at her brother figure.

Only then did Agate find it possible to rise off the ground. He carefully pushed himself out of the dirt. He couldn't stop the tears from pooling out of his eyes and down his face.

He seemed unsure if he should believe her or not, but with him having the advantage of still standing, he moved a little further from the Boiling Sea.
He certainly wasn't trusting her, but he was slowly starting to believe that she wouldn't attack him.
He was still prepared for a possible attack, but he wasn't on the offense anymore.

He stuck his tongue out at her in response to her comment about his 'letting someone have it's skills. Even blew a raspberry with it.
Little shit.
"Even without magic, I can totally kick ass." He crossed his arms in a pout, flicking his tail again.
"And I'm not gonna let you take all the glory of finding whoever stole our stuff. Not a chance."

Despite the child's fear, he could not move. He could not rise. Despite him wishing to flee away from the world, from the oddities that surrounded him, he could not move.
Even with both his and his palisman's panic, he could not bring himself to rise.
He could not calm his mind of the need to run, yet he could not run.
It almost seemed as though the boy accepted his fated death, or what seemed to be his death. He knew it had been coming, he just didn't realize it'd be like that.
He'd always thought it'd be at the hands of the empire, not a stranger, buzz and a red light.

Agate's ear twitched some as the sound got louder, but he was so tired, so dizzy, he couldn't will himself into getting up, into trying to run farther.
Even with Toast's panic, trying to get the poor, terrified boy onto his feet. He didn't move, a gentle whine escaping him.
He slowly curled himself tighter, his chest still heaving as he tried to catch his breath and steady the world around him.
Agate was a boy on the run.

"Well.." the boy started, slowly stepping away from the boiling sea.
Being so close made him nervous.
"As long as you don't attack me, I won't attack you. I'm just trying to cover my ass."
He huffed a little, looking from Needlepoint to Penelope. Toast chirped, and Agate muttered something under his breath, something for just the bird.
It could've just been the young witch, but.. the bird seemed smug.
"... You won't, right? If you even try to attack me, I've got more magic than you'd think."
He was lying, he was lying out of his ass because he didn't have any magic, and he certainly didn't have it in himself to hurt someone, magic or no magic...
But he was good at it. It could've been the truth, and given his uniform, it seemed to be the truth.
Agate was a boy on the run.
Little did he know, he was no longer searched for. His mind never seemed to be at peace, at least to him.

Zircon followed, crossing his arms. "He better. If he's got them, he stole them so he's got to give it back."
He wouldn't admit it, but he didn't like walking around openly without his concealment stone. He felt self conscious of how he looked and sounded, and he flicked his tail, which reflected more emotion than his face did.
"I swear to the Titan... I'm gonna let whoever stole them have it."

Agate was still running, fear encapsulating every part of his being. He didn't know what the hell he'd been attacked by, and he didn't care.
He just ran, keeping Toast close to him, huffing heavily.
He ran until he physically couldn't anymore, collapsing, slamming his shoulder into the dirt ground.
He just laid there, panting, breathing, trying to get the world to stop spinning.
Agate was a boy on the run.
Little did he know, he was no longer searched for. His mind never seemed to be at peace, at least to him.

"What did your palisman- Needlepoint- say? They looked at me while they spoke.. what did they say?"
The boy seemed more focused on getting that information before giving any more of his own. He seemed all around anxious, and he didn't seem as though he'd be calming down any time soon, but the fact that he was holding a conversation instead of threating the pair was progress.

"If it were Darius... Eberwolf would definitely be involved too. No wonder we didn't notice.."
Zircon sighed dramatically, "well, we've gotta start somewhere, and if Darius didn't, he might at least tell us who did."

"He's... A lovebird. A masked lovebird."
He reached up to gently take the bird off his head. Despite the boy's ragged, unkempt appearance, it was clear he did all that he could to keep his palisman happy. Toast sat on the boy's hand without problem, even beginning to preen himself. The bird saw absolutely no danger, even with Agate still being tense and scared.

Zircon nodded, his tail flicking back and forth.
"First, a list of everyone who may take them... Those who like shiny things, magical items... Rocks in general.."
He scratched his head and yawned, "that's like... Everyone here!"

Agate glared at Penelope, which opted another peck out of Toast. The boy rolled his eyes, sheathed his knife and crossed his arms.
"What kind of... Palisman is... Needlepoint?"
He was striking up smalltalk which was... Progress? It was clearly because of Toast's insistence and pressing.
To Toast, Agate needed some friends, especially ones that seemed to be around his age.
